"How do you feel, Professor Morrow?" Leon asked.
As the class ended and lunchtime arrived, Leon walked beside Caitlyn with a faint smile on his lips.
Caitlyn huffed, "If the school makes me pay for that desk, I'm putting it on your tab!"
"Hey, I was just helping you keep the class in line! Look at them now—does anyone still dare not pay attention?" Leon retorted.
"Keep in line? That was blatant intimidation!" Caitlyn shot back.
"Ah, come on. The goal was achieved, so who cares how it happened?" Leon explained with a shrug.
Caitlyn was left speechless, muttering under her breath, "I'm starting to wonder who the real demon is here."
Leon shook his head firmly. "That definitely wouldn't be me. My actions are always aboveboard…"
His voice trailed off, and his expression darkened slightly. Leon murmured, "It's just… you can't always guard against treachery… Ah, the world is cold, and people's hearts are wicked."
Caitlyn glanced at him with a hint of exasperation. "Alright, alright. Isn't it lucky for you that someone as kind-hearted as me took you in? Now, let's go eat."
Leon perked up. "Then, can this kind-hearted person treat me to lunch?"
"No," Caitlyn replied without hesitation.
Leon pouted, looking utterly disappointed. 'Stingy!' he muttered.
Lunch was in the big cafeteria. The place Arwen had taken them before was good… but expensive!
Leon and Caitlyn were always frugal and good at managing their expenses.
At lunchtime, No. 3 Canteen was a sea of people. Caitlyn stood at the entrance, frowning slightly.
The crowd didn't bother her, but squeezing into such a packed space made her feel a little uncomfortable.
Leon caught the slight change in her expression and suddenly reached out, gently grabbing her wrist. Before Caitlyn could react, he strode forward confidently.
For some reason, wherever Leon walked, the crowd naturally parted.
Caitlyn's body stiffened, her eyes landing on the large hand gripping her wrist, her gaze trembling slightly.
Caitlyn tried to tug her hand back, but it didn't budge. She looked up at Leon, but he was scanning the menu, seemingly pondering what to eat.
Eventually, still holding her wrist, Leon led her straight to the pizza line.
Caitlyn lowered her head, hiding her expression. She whispered, "Can you let go now…? It's not that crowded here."
"Oh…" Leon released her hand without a second thought, showing no hint of reluctance.
Caitlyn gave him a deep look before turning back to the line, saying nothing.
Caitlyn thoight, 'He's just clearing a path for me… just a considerate friend… that's all…'
The Demon Lord's gaze flickered, still trying to convince herself. But even she knew that excuse was becoming harder to hold onto.
The line was long, but it moved quickly. In just a few minutes, it was their turn.
Caitlyn bent down slightly, leaning forward to peer into the counter where the server, wearing a cap and gloves, was waiting. "I'll have…"
Her voice trailed off. Caitlyn turned back to look at Leon. He was standing quite close, and she could faintly catch the scent of her own perfume.
Leonleaned in slightly and whispered, "I want the meat lover's pizza."
Caitlyn turned back. "Two meat lover's pizzas, please."
Their staff cards had been delivered yesterday by Arwen, preloaded with three hundred dollars in meal credits, so Caitlyn wasn't worried about the cost.
Two pizzas for ten dollars—a good deal.
Leon and Caitlyn found a corner to sit down. After a few bites, they were surprised to find it tasted quite good.
What they didn't know was that the head chef of No. 3 Canteen was actually a renowned master chef, which explained the crowds.
"A real bargain!" Leon commented with a nod of approval.
Caitlyn also nodded in agreement. It really was pretty good.
After lunch, Leon stretched out his hand and asked for Caitlyn's card, going off to buy two bottles of water.
Apparently, whether intentionally or not, Arwen had combined their staff cards into one—one side had Leon's photo, and the other side had Caitlyn's.
It was utterly ridiculous.
Leon took a couple of gulps of water, not the least bit shy, and let out a contented burp.
Meanwhile, Caitlyn wiped her mouth delicately, giving him a disdainful look before standing up and heading outside.
Leon followed behind, humming an unfamiliar tune. As if it were the most natural thing in the world, he stepped forward, scooped up Caitlyn's small hand, and firmly held it as he strode forward.
Caitlyn's eyes went rigid, and the tips of her ears flushed pink. She slowly lowered her head to look at his hand holding hers…
'This guy… he's just outright holding my hand now?' Caitlyn thought.
The moment they stepped out of the cafeteria, before Caitlyn could say anything, Leon let go, his expression as if it had all been purely to help her get through the crowd.
Caitlyn bit her lip, her sharp little canines showing as she glared at him, her teeth itching with frustration.
Caitlyn muttered, 'I know it! This guy definitely has ulterior motives!'
Leon stretched lazily, strolling leisurely toward the small lake not far away. "After lunch, let's take a walk. Helps with digestion," he said.
Caitlyn followed behind him, her gaze deep and thoughtful.
Leon walked ahead, relishing the memory of the softness of her hand, his mood evidently lifted.
Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting speckled shadows on the ground. A gentle breeze swept by, ruffling his black hair.
Leon squinted his eyes, sighing contentedly. "What beautiful weather today!"
In the afternoon, after a short nap, Leon came out of his room stretching, his energy fully restored.
Caitlyn was sitting cross-legged on the multi-colored sofa, and Leon couldn't help but sneak a glance at her legs.
Those pale, smooth legs were barely covered by short denim shorts, utterly captivating.
Leon mused to himself that as soon as they got home, Caitlyn had swapped out her conservative outfit for something much lighter.
The house was warm, and with an extra person now, Caitlyn didn't have to worry about the cold.
However, when Caitlyn noticed where his gaze lingered, she wordlessly pulled a small blanket over her legs.
Caitlyn always bought clothes but never wore them outside—skirts and shorts were reserved only for indoors.
It was one of her little quirks.
Leon seemed pretty happy about it. After all, what guy wouldn't want his girl to dress modestly outside but comfortably at home?
Of course, Lady Caitlyn and Leon were just pure friends… but even so, friends can be possessive too, right?
Some beauty was meant for his eyes only, and that made Leon feel incredibly lucky.
However, someone couldn't be satisfied with just a glance. Leon pretended to watch TV, but his peripheral vision was locked on her.
Clearly, a certain Lord Radford wasn't fully awake yet—his instincts just led his eyes to what they loved to see.
Caitlyn, on the other hand, began wondering if she should start dressing more conservatively at home too.
"I'm thinking of heading over to the Guild of Hunters tomorrow," Leon suddenly announced.
Caitlyn blinked in surprise, frowning slightly. "You haven't fully recovered, and you're rushing off to fight things already?"
"I'm just going to look around, get a feel for the place. I'll go in the afternoon. In the morning, I'll still go to class with you," Leon replied with a grin, turning to her. He tilted his head playfully and asked, "Were you just worried about me?"
"Worry about you? In your dreams !" Caitlyn grabbed a pillow and tossed it at him.
Leon caught it easily, but Caitlyn immediately threw another, adding, "I'm just afraid if you die, the money you owe me will be a bad debt!"
"But you even help me change my bandages… So dedicated…" Leon teased.
"Shut up!" Another pillow came flying, Caitlyn's voice now tinged with embarrassed irritation.
