That said, Caitlyn still didn't dare eat too much—even if, as Leon had pointed out, she really didn't need to worry about gaining weight.
In fact, she looked a little underweight.
At her level—a Demon Lord-class powerhouse—gaining fat wasn't exactly easy.
Night deepened. Inside Leon's room, the two sat quietly in the dim light, facing each other.
Caitlyn slowly pulled her hand back.
"Goodnight," Leon said softly.
"Goodnight," she murmured, turning to leave.
The night passed without incident.
A new day arrived, wrapped in the steady rhythm of falling rain.
Classes again today. Time to work.
Leon stared at the downpour outside, torn between taking his scooter or the bus. Times like these made him wish they had a car.
He glanced at Caitlyn's bedroom door—still closed.
As usual, she was sleeping in. Or maybe she hadn't even woken up yet.
He changed into fresh clothes, grabbed an umbrella, and headed out to buy breakfast.
When he returned, her room was still quiet.
He set the bags down and walked slowly toward her door, hesitating. He raised a hand and knocked, but didn't dare open it directly.
Who knew if she had a habit of sleeping naked?
He'd never been inside Caitlyn's room before.
"Caitlyn," he called, "Time to wake up. It's raining, so we should leave a little earlier."
No response.
Leon took a deep breath and clenched his fists.
This was reason enough to go in, right?
It wasn't like he had some weird motive barging into a girl's room. He was being helpful, considerate, friendly.
So even if—hypothetically—she wasn't wearing anything, it wouldn't be his fault.
Hesitation never helped. Action was better.
He grabbed the door handle, slowly turned it, held his breath, and pushed the door open.
The room was quiet, warm. The walls were painted in soft blush tones—clear evidence, despite what she claimed, that Caitlyn definitely had a girlish side.
Leon let out a slow breath, and then instinctively took another.
"It smells so good..."
That familiar scent—Caitlyn's scent—filled the room.
They say if a man finds a girl's natural scent irresistible, it means his genes have chosen her. So maybe... maybe his DNA wanted him to marry her?
He wondered if she felt the same about his scent.
One step into the room and Leon's thoughts were already running wild.
His gaze drifted to the bed. The sheets, a warm cream-pink, were cozy and slightly messy.
As his eyes climbed higher, he felt both relieved and vaguely disappointed—Caitlyn was wrapped up tightly in her blanket, only her little head poking out.
No telling what she was wearing underneath... or if she was wearing anything at all.
She lay still, eyes closed, golden hair fanned across her pillow and shoulders. Her face—so delicately beautiful—was serene in sleep, like a fairy caught between dreams and moonlight.
Her lips were slightly parted, breathing steady. The soft, ethereal glow around her made her look almost unreal.
Even after all this time, Leon still found himself stunned by her beauty.
'How could someone like her even exist?'
He instinctively held his breath, not wanting to disturb the moment, even though he had come here precisely to wake her up.
His heart was pounding again, that familiar ache bubbling up inside him. For someone who'd never been in love before, this was dangerously addictive.
"So beautiful..." he whispered, taking a step closer to the bed. He reached out slowly...
He had to admit—he didn't want to ruin this peaceful scene. He almost wanted to text the school and call in for her.
But if he let that happen once, it'd happen again. And knowing Caitlyn's temper, she wouldn't be happy.
"My sleeping beauty," he murmured, "Time to wake up."
He didn't cross any lines—just smiled and gently poked her soft, flawless cheek.
Caitlyn stirred slightly, her brows twitching, her lips smacking softly as a tiny trail of drool glistened at the corner of her mouth.
Leon blinked. 'She drools in her sleep... that's so cute.'
His gaze landed on her lips—rosy, glistening, like the most perfect forbidden fruit.
His throat tightened.
'I really... want to kiss her. Would she hit me?' he thought.
He started weighing the pros and cons—then firmly shut that thought down.
No. Tempting, but no.
He wasn't that desperate. Not yet. And if he did, Caitlyn would probably kill him. Or worse, hate him.
Being genuinely hated by Caitlyn...
That thought alone made him want to drop dead.
Perhaps his gaze lingered too long, because Caitlyn's lashes fluttered faintly—but she kept her eyes closed.
Yet the rosy blush rising on her cheeks betrayed her completely.
'What the hell is he doing?' Caitlyn screamed internally. 'What is he doing in my room? Why is he still poking my face? Idiot. Pervert. Stupid. Big dumb idiot!'
"If you don't wake up," Leon whispered mischievously, "I'll kiss my Sleeping Beauty awake."
"You dare," she snapped, eyes flying open, cheeks crimson as she glared at him.
Leon grinned. "You think I won't?"
'I'll kiss you till your lips are swollen,' he thought.
"Get your hand off me." She turned her head sharply, avoiding the finger still touching her face.
"Ouch," Leon said, mock-offended. "I came all this way to wake you up out of kindness and you treat me like this?"
"You're waking me up—why use your hand instead of your mouth?"
Leon blinked, then looked at her seriously. "Well, you just rejected me. But if you've changed your mind, I could always try with my mouth now?"
Caitlyn's eyes widened. Her lips quivered. Her blush deepened to furious red. "Get. Out."
"Got it."
No hesitation. He spun around and left instantly.
That was a very angry Caitlyn. Time to retreat.
As the door shut behind him, Caitlyn finally snapped.
Face flushed, she dove into bed and started kicking and thrashing like a madwoman.
'So embarrassing... he saw me sleeping like that... and did all those weird things!'
She touched the cheek he'd poked... then slowly reached for her lips.
'He... wouldn't have, right?'
Moments later, fully dressed and face perfectly composed, Caitlyn exited her room, brushed her teeth, and came into the living room to eat breakfast.
She grabbed a piece of bread and took a big, fierce bite, glaring daggers at Leon as if trying to detect a guilty conscience.
But... he looked totally normal. Not a single twitch.
She secretly exhaled.
She had been fairly sure anyway—if he had really stolen a kiss, there's no way she wouldn't have noticed.
Still, her alertness really had dropped.
She didn't fully register what was happening until he was poking her in the face.
'Stupid Leon... why did he whisper so quietly?'
If he'd just spoken up a bit louder, maybe she would've woken up properly...
Leon suddenly said, "It's raining today and colder than yesterday. Make sure you dress warm—you'll freeze if you go out like that."
