By the time they got home, Caitlyn had managed to put away a hot dog, a fried drumstick, and three doughnuts.
Naturally, she pinned the blame on Leon. After her shower, as she sat by the fire, she shot Leon a long, meaningful look, secretly wishing all those extra calories would end up on him instead.
Seriously, Leon never seemed to work out, but his muscles were always on point.
Leon came out of the bathroom after his shower, casually lifting his shirt to wipe his face. For a split second, his chiseled abs were on full display. Caitlyn snuck a peek out of the corner of her eye, rubbing her hands, her cheeks turning a soft shade of pink.
She thought, 'They probably feel pretty nice to touch.
'Ugh, why don't guys have something like a period? Then I could use "returning the favor" as an excuse to cop a feel...'
Caitlyn suddenly froze, snapping herself out of those rosy, not-so-innocent daydreams. She patted her cheeks, heart pounding in her chest.
What on earth was she thinking How could she let her mind wander like that?
She was absolutely not having any weird thoughts about Leon's body! No way!
"Caitlyn, are you okay?" Leon stared at her, a bit dumbfounded, as she suddenly slapped herself twice, concern flickering in his eyes.
Caitlyn's face was burning as she lowered her gaze, refusing to meet his eyes.
Caitlyn answered awkwardly, "I'm fine, just a mosquito!"
Leon was stunned. "Mosquitoes? In winter?"
Caitlyn made things up. "Haven't you heard? A lunatic invented cold-resistant mosquitoes recently."
"Man, that's just evil. If I ever meet that guy, I've got a few things to say to him."
Leon joked as he shook his head, then wandered over and crouched down in front of Caitlyn.
She instinctively clutched at the hem of her skirt. Leon's expression froze, and he looked up at her with a sigh. "Am I really that untrustworthy?"
"Yep." She nodded without a moment's hesitation.
Leon was so annoyed that he actually laughed, silently swearing that one day, he'd make her beg him to let her see!
Still fuming, Leon reached his hands to Caitlyn's feet.
Caitlyn was stunned. "What are you doing?"
"Just giving our dear Lady Caitlyn a little foot rub. After all, I couldn't possibly let you do this yourself, right?"
As he spoke, Leon grabbed her two soft feet, pink and tender from the heat.
Caitlyn's body gave a tiny shiver. The strange sensation of him holding her foot shot straight to her brain, and her cheeks flushed red.
"Stop. You're just using this as an excuse to touch my feet!" Caitlyn muttered softly, her voice gentle and low, eyes glistening as she stared at him, her face full of embarrassment.
Leon just snorted, neither admitting nor denying it, but he couldn't help running his fingers over her soft skin again.
He thought to himself, 'Foot fetish? Please. As if!
'I'm just being nice. That's all.'
The moment Leon let go, Caitlyn quickly pulled her feet back, hugging them to herself and giving him a pitiful look, like she'd just been bullied.
Why didn't she just kick him away or struggle?
Because if she did, she'd probably end up hurting herself more than him, and he'd probably enjoy it!
Who knew if he would use that as an excuse to get back at her somehow...
At this distance, Caitlyn was totally powerless against a brute like Leon. So really, she had no choice but to play along and keep him calm so he'd finish the job.
Her excuse was so flimsy that even Caitlyn almost wanted to laugh at herself.
She shot a glance at Leon, trying to hide her eyes. Her heart was a mess of warmth, a little sourness, and a touch of sweetness, all swirling together until her cheeks went red.
She let out a soft breath, her gaze a bit hazy.
'How much longer am I going to keep lying to myself?
'How long will it take before I finally have the guts to get closer?
'But honestly, honestly...'
Caitlyn quietly watched the man fussing in front of her, her toes gently brushing against each other. She could still feel the lingering warmth of his hand.
Was there really anyone else in this world who was as strong as him, yet would still bend down and gently massage the feet of the one he loved?
No matter how shy or awkward she felt, she couldn't deny or fool herself about the real, burning feelings this guy had for her.
But when did it all start?
Why did he come looking for her that day? Was it really just because after all these years of fighting, he got hooked on it and couldn't stay away?
Maybe it was not so strange for one's greatest rival to appreciate and cherish him best. And if the rival happened to be a total knockout, falling for her by accident...
That wasn't the worst thing in the world, right?
They knew each other better than anyone, knew each other's weaknesses inside out, were always in each other's space, and made each other's emotions swing the most...
With all that stacked up, maybe ending up as a couple wasn't so impossible after all.
But still, weren't they supposed to be sworn enemies?
How could an enemy ever become a wife?
Leon said nothing, then casually plopped down right next to Caitlyn, stretching his own arms and legs. His whole body shivered as he let out a groan that was impossible to describe.
"Oh, god, this feels good!"
Caitlyn's eyes flickered, her thoughts interrupted again. She shot Leon a dark glare and snapped, "Quit making those weird noises! People will think we're up to something."
Leon grinned, "Hey, it really does feel great. I can't help it!"
Leon casually swung his arm around behind Caitlyn, draped it over her shoulders, and gave a gentle squeeze.
He said jokingly, "Come on, we're tight. Who cares what it looks like? Right?"
Caitlyn clenched her fists and said through gritted teeth, "Don't think you can distract me with jokes. Your grabby hands aren't getting a free pass!"
"So what if I hug you? Who else but me would even dare? I'm hugging you. Deal with it!" Leon declared, totally shameless, and pulled her straight into his arms.
He even buried his face in her hair and took a deep breath, looking blissed out.
Caitlyn froze, her whole body burning up. Her cheeks turned as red as ripe cherries—so red that it looked like a single kiss would make them burst.
But the warmth and affection bubbling up inside her left her flustered and at a loss.
She snapped, "You, you shameless guy!"
Leon wasn't even pretending to hold back anymore!
And Caitlyn was finding it harder and harder to ignore the fact that she didn't really want to push Leon away.
So, she kicked him.
But honestly, Leon still enjoyed it a lot.
Just as Caitlyn was about to storm off to her room, Leon quickly admitted defeat.
He said, "Wait, wait! I'll behave! Let's just watch some more TV, okay? It's way too early to go to bed!"
Caitlyn paused mid-step, surprisingly taking his words to heart.
She bit her soft, glossy lip, turned to glare at him, and warned, "If you cross the line again, I won't let you hold my hand anymore!"
Leon promised, "I'll do my best."
That threat actually packed a punch.
But Leon blinked at Caitlyn, then suddenly grinned and patted the spot next to him where she'd just been sitting.
He suggested, "How about a couple rounds of games?"
'She really seems to have softened up towards me.' Leon's heart started to race. Maybe now...
He found himself torn.
'I've never dated anyone before, so I really have no clue. Should I try to take things a step further now?'
Caitlyn scooted as far away from him as possible, muttering, "Let's play Candy Crush. The loser pays 30 dollars."
Leon smirked, "I'm broke right now. How about if I lose, you get to kiss me?"
Caitlyn was stunned. 'What?'
Leon cleared his throat. "Ahem... Just kidding. If you lose, maybe let me steal a kiss instead?"
Caitlyn's eyes went wide as she glared daggers at him.
"You want it all, huh? Greedy jerk! Dream on! If you lose, you just owe me. One day, I'll collect every last bit!"
Leon grinned. "Then you better not cry when you lose. I'm really good at this. And if you can't pay up, I'll just take you as payment."
