The winter wind was icy, but no matter how cold it got, it couldn't chase away the warmth she felt from being held so tightly, their bodies pressed close together.
As the traffic light turned red, Caitlyn gradually slowed down.
Leon was still hugging her tightly. At least his hands were behaving themselves and not wandering anywhere they shouldn't.
Caitlyn murmured inside, 'Hmph! If he dared to get handsy, I'd toss him right off the scooter!'
Beep, beep!
Car horns blared as the traffic on both sides started moving, quickly turning into a dense stream of cars.
There really were so many people in Ekavine City, and even more cars.
But the weirdest thing was, beneath this surface of order and calm, there was always someone popping up to stir up trouble somewhere.
A sudden roar of an engine erupted behind them, and in a flash, a flashy red streak screeched to a halt right next to them on the main road.
It was a red sports car, looking truly impressive.
Before the sound had even faded, a sharp, playful whistle pierced the air.
Whew!
Leon couldn't help but glance over. He saw a seductive woman in a deep V-neck black camisole, her skin smooth and healthy, her sultry red lips curled into a flirtatious smile as she shot him a look full of charm.
Her fiery red hair tumbled carelessly over her shoulders, perfectly matching her flashy ride. Sitting inside, she looked like a blooming poppy—gorgeous, vibrant, and just a little bit dangerous.
She blinked at Leon. "Hey, handsome! With a face like yours, why are you riding around on that beat-up little e-scooter?
"I think someone as good-looking as you should be sitting right here in my passenger seat. Don't you think so?"
The woman grinned, almost blatantly patting the seat beside her, and teased, "Look at that little girl with you. She's so tiny. I bet she can't even handle you. How about keeping me company for a day? I'll give you 30 thousand dollars. Afterward, you can go back to your little girlfriend."
Leon was momentarily stunned. He never thought he'd see the day he'd get hit on by a woman like this.
Caitlyn's eye twitched as she tightened her grip on the handlebars, slowly turning her head to glance at the woman in the sports car. Behind her black helmet, her blood-red eyes locked onto the woman, a flicker of annoyance sparking in her heart.
She wasn't the type to get riled up by a few words, but the woman's tone and the way she treated Leon like some kind of commodity really rubbed her the wrong way!
She was just about to say something when Leon's voice suddenly came from behind her.
He let out a soft, dismissive laugh and said, "Sorry, but I'd much rather squeeze onto this little scooter with the most beautiful, amazing girl in the world than take your money.
"Honestly, your looks just don't do it for me."
The woman's smile froze, her lips twitching as her expression turned stiff. She stared at Caitlyn, her tone losing its playful edge and turning cold. "Not interested in my looks, huh?
"Just how pretty can your helmet-wearing girlfriend be, for you to say something that ridiculous?
"If she's really that gorgeous, why not take off the helmet and let's compare? In my experience, only girls who aren't confident in their looks like to hide their faces."
Before Caitlyn could react, Leon was already reaching for her helmet, gently cradling her head as he carefully lifted it off.
The helmet was a bit loose on Caitlyn anyway, so it came off easily without making her uncomfortable.
Leon slowly lifted the helmet, and Caitlyn's golden hair tumbled free, cascading down like a waterfall. The soft, slightly wavy strands floated around her, each one catching the light and sparkling brilliantly.
Her face was cool and aloof, like an ice lotus blooming atop a snowy peak, noble, elegant, and exuding a queenly aura that looked down on the world. Those crimson eyes of hers were even sharper, burning like an undying flame in a field of snow.
Caitlyn shot a calm glance at the sports car. The moment the woman inside met her gaze, it felt like a mountain had crashed down on her-an almost physical pressure, as if an invisible hand was squeezing her heart.
"See? I told you. She's the most beautiful woman in the world!"
Leon, acting like a show-off with his most prized treasure, proudly displayed Caitlyn for a moment before slipping the helmet back onto her head.
As the helmet went back on, Caitlyn's world went dark. She twitched her lips, reached back, and gave Leon's waist a sharp pinch!
"Hiss... Ouch!" He couldn't help but yelp, his face stiffening. Then, still hugging the soft and fragrant Caitlyn in front of him, he dropped one last bombshell.
He said, "Oh, and by the way, she's my sister."
The light turned green. Caitlyn, half-numb, quickly turned the key, twisted the throttle all the way, and shot off like a black shadow!
"Yah-hoo!"
Behind them, the red sports car was still frozen in place, until the impatient honking from behind finally snapped the woman out of her daze.
She let out a long breath, her expression serious as she looked ahead and started the car.
That kind of presence and pressure was overwhelming.
She was an A-rank, but she even felt like she wouldn't last a few seconds against that blonde.
Ekavine City really was full of hidden monsters. Someone that strong was riding around on a little e-scooter.
"Sister, huh? With how clingy they are, that's more like his sweetheart...
"Or maybe..."
The red-haired woman shook her head, trying to clear out those weird thoughts, and let her mind drift again.
"Maybe I should get myself a scooter and try playing the harmless act for once?"
Inside Ekavine Academy, Caitlyn let out a long sigh as she slowly took off her helmet. She gave her head a little shake, and her silky hair fell perfectly into place—absolutely stunning.
World's number one beauty, huh? Hmph. She wasn't that conceited. The world was huge, and the Elves were basically born gorgeous.
Who would know how many hidden beauties were out there? Sure, she hadn't met anyone prettier than herself yet, but to be humble, she would say she was top three.
After all, beauty was pretty subjective.
But in Leon's eyes... Caitlyn glanced at the man standing nearby, lost in thought.
Suddenly, he looked up and fixed her with a stern face. "Lady Caitlyn! Do you realize you just broke the law?"
Caitlyn was puzzled.
Leon explained, "Speeding on a non-motorized vehicle on the street! That's a clear violation of Ekavine City's regulations!"
She was always nagging him about speeding. And he finally had something on her!
Caitlyn rolled her eyes at him, parked her scooter, and turned to leave.
But Leon stepped right in front of her, face expressionless. "Pay the fine, or let me get even for you pulling my ear last time."
Caitlyn looked at him calmly. "You want to pull my ear?"
"Why not? You did it to me! You sped too, so why can't I?" Leon stuck out his chin, refusing to back down.
She shrugged. "Oh, fine. I'll pay. Just take it off what you owe me."
Caitlyn shot him a cool glance, sidestepped him, and with a hint of smugness at the corner of her lips, strolled toward the academic building.
Leon stiffly turned to watch her walk away, his eyes downcast, looking a little dejected.
Caitlyn was in a great mood.
'Heh, Leon, trying to mess with me? What a joke! All I have to do is tweak the accounts a bit, and I'll win every time...'
Smack! A sharp crack echoed through the empty bike shed!
Caitlyn jolted, letting out a soft gasp. Her whole body went stiff as she turned to stare at Leon in disbelief. In an instant, a bright flush spread across her cheeks like wildfire racing through dry grass, setting her whole face ablaze.
Her eyes trembled as she slowly covered her butt with her hand, biting her lip, her breath coming in shaky bursts. Her heart was pounding so hard that it felt like it might burst out of her chest.
Caitlyn stammered, "You... You..."
"Mmm, still feels just as good as before." Leon casually flexed his palm, then, as if nothing happened, brought it to his nose for a quick sniff. He couldn't help but grin from ear to ear.
He screamed in his heart, 'Oh, gosh! That felt amazing! So worth it!'
Caitlyn's expression gradually returned to calm. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, her whole demeanor shifting in a heartbeat from a raging storm to a perfectly still lake.
The air went dead silent. Leon's instincts screamed that something was off, and he quietly started inching backward.
Every alarm bell in his head was blaring, like a dam about to burst, all sending him the same urgent message. 'Run!'
"Leon, did it feel that good?" Caitlyn smiled, her voice extra gentle, and even reached out to take his hand.
Leon forced a stiff smile, feeling like his hand was about to be crushed. Trying to sound calm, he said, "Caitlyn, as friends, we're equals, right? So when I sped, you pulled my ear. When you sped, I just gave you a little pat. Totally fair trade, right?
"I'm sure Lady Caitlyn wouldn't get mad over something so small, right?"
"Fair, huh..." She was still smiling, bright as a flower, her eyes curving gently.
"I seem to remember my good friend Leon also offered to pay a fine, didn't he? So what exactly does this extra little pat mean, huh?"
The tingling and faint sting from that spot still lingered, and Caitlyn's voice started to tremble, her expression slowly falling apart.
Leon's heart was pounding out of his chest. At that moment, only one thought filled his mind. 'I'm doomed!'
He begged, "Just, please promise me, not the face, okay?"
