Beyond the Trap of Yesterday - Chapter 14: Chapter 14

Zara's pov
It's been about a month since I have started watching Mia and it's been going pretty good, Enzo and I don't talk that much apart from small talk
I got pretty mad at him when I found out he gave me 2ok for a month of watching a child!! I mean JESUS this man can't be throwing that kind of money around
So I pretty much ignored him for a week didn't talk to him when he came home from work or barely spoke
But after the first week I forgave him...it's surprisingly really hard to stay mad at that man and I am a very petty person
He promised to not pay that much if I continue watching Mia, but I plan to make sure he doesn't pay at all...but that man is stubborn so I doubt it will work
Any minute now Enzo is going to drop off Mia at the bakery, sometimes I go to his house and sometimes he brings her here and we hang out here she helps out around the bakery which is really sweet
Or we go take some treats and go to the park that's a couple of minutes away from here
"Hi, zee!" Mia runs up to meet me in a hug
"Hi sweetheart, are you ready to learn how to make some chocolate cake today" I smile at her
And then I smile even more when I see her whole face light up
"DADDY DID YOU HEAR THAT I'M GONNA MAKE CHOCOLATE CAKE!!" She screams
"Yeah I did hear, behave alright" Enzo laughs lightly before kissing Mia on the head
"Have a good day at work" I tell Enzo with a smile
"Thank you, I hope she isn't too much trouble while your working" Enzo says
"No I love having her here the customers absolutely love it when she helps at the register and she is very well behaved" I smile up at him
He returns the smile "alright if she's any trouble don't be scared to call me, yeah?" He says
"Yeah, I will" I smile up at him
And we just look in each other's eyes for a little, I never know what to do when this happens it's so awkward
Is it weird that I wanna just grab his face and kiss him...OH GOSH I NEED TO SHUT UP
And as if someone's reading my thoughts, Ava chirps in from behind the counter practically screaming
"Omg just KISS already or something the tension is getting too high up in here," she says laughing while rolling her eyes
OMG she did not just say that oh gosh
I immediately awkwardly start scratching my neck while looking anywhere but Enzo's eyes
"Umm right see you later" I awkwardly say
Gosh dang it could I be any more awkward
"Yeah see you later" he says as he walks off laughing lightly
I wait until he fully leaves until I lash out at Ava
"AVA! What the heck were you thinking, that was so embarrassing" I tell her
She just starts laughing " oh come on its so obvious you both wanna make a move but think the other isn't interested, it's hilarious at this point"
"Be quiet! That's not true he doesn't like me" I tell her
"Yeah, sure then tell me why he turned red when I said that? No normal man who didn't wanna kiss a girl would turn red" she says in a 'duh' tone
"I don't know maybe cus it was embarrassing to hear that in front of all our customers...and not to mention his child!"
"Yeah yeah you keep thinking that" she laughs As I walk over with Mia to the back
"Ok sweetheart ready to learn how to make a chocolate cake?" I ask her
Her face light up and she starts jumping up and down "YESSSS" she screeches
It's about an hour later Mia and I are covered in batter and flour
And now we're at the register while we wait for the cakes to bake
"Hi welcome to a slice of love, my names Zara and this is Mia what can we get for ya" I smile at the sweet older woman
"Well hello there darlings, can I get a slice of that vanilla raspberry cake, and a medium peach tea with a slice of lemon," she says
I help out Mia put the order into the fancy tablets we have for our orders, I then whisper in Mia's ear the price for her to tell the customer
"That will be $9.57" Mia smiles up at the woman
"Well aren't you a cutie," she tells Mia
Mia shyly whispers a 'thank you' to which I just chuckle
We take orders until the cakes are done then we go to finish the cakes
"Alright and then we frost them then we are done!" I say giving her a high five
"Good job Mia your did amazing, the cake looks delicious," I say smiling down at her
I Frosted all the cakes, and let her frost one of them
"Can I take a slice zee zee?" she says with hope in her eyes
"You can take that whole cake if you would like, I'm sure your daddy would like to try the cake his little girl made, and you can give some to Maria and the bodyguards if you want"
"REALLY!!!" She says excitedly
And granted I pretty much made the cake she just helped pour ingredients in from time to time but she's 5 so why not give her the credit, and she did frost it...
"Absolutely you can, Let's just package it up shall we?"
"Okay! Thank you Zara" she hugs me
"Your welcome cutie, come on let's go wash your hands" I laugh lightly seeing them covered in frosting
Times goes by fast between us baking, manning the register, helping customers, and whatnot
I barely notice when Enzo walks into the bakery because I'm busy talking to Mia
"DADDY!" Mia says as she runs to her dad
"Hi sweetheart, " her dad says hugging her
They're so cute together Mia is like a mini adorable version of Enzo
"GUESS what daddy!" Mia says excitedly
"What" Enzo laughs
"I made a cake and Zara says we can take the WHOLE CAKE home with us and even gives some to Maria and the guards !!" She says jumping around
"Well isn't that nice of her, did you say thank you?" He says while smiling
"Yeah," she says
"Okay, why don't you go get the cake while I talk to Zara?" He says
She runs to the back and I can hear her talking to Ava
"So did she really make the cake," he says laughing
"Well she added some ingredients herself and she frosted it all by herself, but she looks so proud...so yes she made it herself" I wink at him
He starts laughing
"Why don't you come bowling with me and my friend Matteo this Saturday, you can bring your friend Ava if you would like," he says smiling at me
More time with Enzo? Don't mind if I do
"Alright that sounds fun, where would Mia be?"
"She will be with Maria at home, she likes taking her to the park on the weekends" he shrugs
"Okay sounds fun, I'll ask Ava to see if she can come along" I smile up at him
"Okay cool" he smiles back
"DADDY!! Look see isn't it pretty" she gives the box to her dad
I can tell he's trying really hard not to laugh at her frosting job but he contains it
"It's perfect sweetheart," he tells Mia
"Thank you" she shyly smiles
He looks at me and we make eye contact and we can't help but both let out a little laugh
We say goodbye and they head out
"Hey, Ava?" I ask heading to the back
"Ya zee bee? What's up, is your hunk gone so soon?" She asks smiling with a hint of a smirk
"Oh be quiet! He actually invited both of us to go bowling this Saturday, his friend Matteo is gonna be there and he told me I could bring you along" I say
"Well duh I'll come, can't let this Matteo guy third wheel on you guys" she laughs
"Yeah yeah whatever, and hey maybe this Matteo guy will be cute and you can hit it off with him?" I say wiggling my brows
"Yeah doubt it but can't know if I don't go!" She laughs as she eats a spoonful of frosting
And we both start laughing
