Zara's pov
We officially arrived in Italy and it's absolutely breathtaking here
I'm so excited, I get to go to a damn ball...?! Like who am I
The coolest place I used to go to is a restaurant to spend a whopping $25 on a meal for myself
And now I have been to Hawaii and now ITALY
I mean I am from here but like I said...I don't remember my time here at all
"Oh, it's so beautiful!!!" I say looking around as we drive to Enzos parents house
"Yeah it is absolutely beautiful," Enzo says smiling but I can feel him staring at me...not the view
"Enzo your not even looking," I say laughing
"Well, I'm looking at something beautiful right now...So I don't see your point" he says with a grin
I shake my head and smile "your such an idiot"
"Aah but your idiot nonetheless," he says smugly
"You know for someone who hasn't even asked me to be their girlfriend you seem pretty confident in that statement," I say smirk
"You did say I was yours that night I was-" he starts talking
"ENZO!" I say slapping his shoulder and I point at Mia who's playing with her barbie and looking out the window
He laughs "my point is that I'm already yours...weather you like it or not" he shrugs
I roll my eyes trying to be annoyed but the butterflies in my stomach say otherwise
"Well since you brought up the subject, I was gonna ask you this question in a more romantic setting" he starts by saying
I hum in response while smirking
"Will you do me the honors of being my...idiot?" he says smirking
My mouth falls open and I slap his chest while he laughs
I mumble an 'asshole'
"Zara, you really think I'm gonna ask that question in a damn car ?" He starts laughing
"Well you clearly don't know me very well cus I don't give a shit about crazy romantic gestures...like shit my dream place to be proposed to would be after a date of going to get coffee something to eat then go to a bookstore and get proposed to in the romance section with twinkly lights everywhere" I sigh dreaming
"Noted," he says
"I'm serious...." I saying not kidding
That is my ideal way to be proposed to, yes I love the luxury and shit but in reality, this girl loves

Books
And chick-freaking-fil-a
"I know you're not that's why I said noted" he rolls his eyes
"You wanna marry me?" I ask in a whisper
"Of course I wanna marry you someday, your la Mia Regina, and I love you and I already see you as the mother of Mia and so does she so why wouldn't I wanna," he says smiling (my queen)
"I'm not sure...I guess sometimes my mind makes me overthink and I don't think you like me that much..." I say tearing up
"Zara I don't freaking like you..." he says annoyed
I frown
He cups my cheeks and goes in for a kiss but the minute his lips are about to touch he whispers an "I love you" before kissing me
And I can't help but smile into the kiss
He's so cute
We part away "I love you too...will you be my boyfriend already?" I ask with an eyebrow raised
"You know I wanted to be the one to ask you the 'will you be my girlfriend' question" he frowns
And I laugh "who cares...so is that a no" I frown pretending to be upset
"Of course it's a yes Ragazza stupida" he laughs (stupid girl)
"Good, now I can see your parents officially as your girlfriend" I grin
"I like the sound of girlfriend" he smiles
"But you know what has an even better ring to it?" He whispers against my ear
"What" I whisper back
"Zara Moretti" he whispers and I can hear the smirk,
he then trails a couple kisses near my ear
My breath gets caught In my throat...this man and his damn words
"Yeah guess it does but for now it's Zara Ricci" I frown in disgust
I hate my last name
I'd marry and take this man's last name in a heartbeat to not be associated with my parent's last shitting name anymore
And of course, marrying Enzo wouldn't be so bad...but we have too much to discuss before that
Like my parents for starters...the abuse and shit is a big thing to talk about And so much shit comes with it like
-I might not be able to have kids...the doctor says it's a maybe thing
-I have permanent scars on my body my parents gave me
-of course, there's the fact my parents hit, tortured, and hurt their own child
-I'm terrified of rain, And the dark scares me a little too because of all the shit they put me through
-I never lived a normal life because I was constantly worried about being anything less than a perfect daughter
I need to talk to Enzo about this before he thinks about marrying me... he needs to know
But when is the question
"You look like you don't like your last name very much" he laughs
"Yeah I don't at all it has a bad meaning to me...but for now it's Ricci but hopefully somewhere in the future it will be Moretti" I smile
"I mean we do need to still talk and have serious discussions before getting married," I say
"Yeah we very much do, but let's not worry about that now...my girlfriend because we have arrived at my parent's house," he says smiling
I look out the window and see a jaw-dropping beautiful mansion...that looks more like a castle then anything
"Wow...this is breathtaking," I say
"Yeah it's beautiful... my mother loves the old Victorian-style homes mixed with classic Italian type castle and they were able to find a mix of both so here you have my parents home," he says laughing
"Well I didn't know I could like your mother more... but her style in homes is INSANE!" I say not being able to take my eyes off the damn mansion
Enzo laughs and leads me outside of the car with a sleeping Mia in his arms
"Come on I'm sure my mother is stalking out of a window waiting for us," he says laughing
"Okay let's go then, "I say with a smile
We walk up and Sophia opens the door and immediately engulfs me in a hug
"Hi Sophia," I say hugging her back
"Oh, sweetie Hello, how was your flight? Oh it's so good to see you" she says tightening the hug
I laugh "the flight was great, and it's amazing to see you too," I say
We stay like this for a bit til Enzo interrupts
"Yeah hi to you too mother....yeah no I missed you too" Enzo talks to himself
And I laugh
"I'm sorry son, I'm just so excited to see Zara" Sophia grins
"Yeah my girlfriend is pretty great" Enzo grins slightly smirking at me while I roll my eyes
"Girlfriend ? Oh this is wonderful " Sophia says clapping her hands together then hugging Enzo and kissing a sleeping Mia on the forehead and then hugging me again
"Come on in I'll show you around and then take you guys to your rooms," Sophia tells me
"Your home is breathtaking Sophia," I tell her
"Well thank you, I'm so happy you guys can stay for a bit" she grins
Her home is absolutely beautiful there's like 2 or 3 kitchens in this damn castle of a house
She starts showing a bit around until she stops at a door and turns to me
"Someone told me that you absolutely love reading so I'm sure you will love this room," she says glancing at Enzo
she opens the door to reveal a breathtaking library
(Not exactly what I had in mind but this will do lol ^)
"OH my beauty and the beast, this is like a dream" I say my jaw officially on the floor
"Glad you like it, fill free to read as much as you want while your here" Sophia smiles
"I'll have to take you up on that offer then" I squeal In excitement
"Ok your stuff is already in your rooms... and I know you're together but your rooms are right next to each other, I don't need you to doing funny business while you are here Got it " she directs this towards Enzo
"Got it mother" Enzo shakes his head laughing and smirking over at me
"Mia will be staying across the room from you," she tells Enzo and he nods
She opens my room and it's beautiful!
(Idk y'all I guess something like this but the golden parts are white or something? It's ugly but I couldn't find what I was picturing on Pinterest )
"It's beautiful thank you" I smile at Sophia
"In your closet there's a bunch of clothing you may wear as well and take what you want when you leave as well," she says smiling
"Wow thank you so much Sophia this is just... too much" I whisper
"Sweetie your part of the family now...nothing is too much," she says hugging me
Family.
I'm a part of their family
That one little sentence just breaks me into tears
"Thank you" I whisper
"I never had much of a family so thank you" I whisper
"Oh sweetie, you absolutely have a family with us I genuinely feel like your my daughter sometimes when we're on the phone" she laughs
I laugh lightly along with her
"I feel like I'm talking to a mother who cares when we're talking," I say tears flowing down my face
"I'm really sorry that your parents weren't the best...but you can count us as your second family" she smiles wiping my tears
"Thank you" I whisper
But I count them as my one and only family.
"Well I'll let you guys get settled into your rooms, Tomorrow is a big day and we have to get you up bright and early for dress fittings and appointments since the ball is in 2 days" Sophia says smiling
"Alright thank you again" I smile
"It's no problem dear," she says hugging me before leaving
"Oh and if you need anything, press that button right there and a maid will tell you anything you need like if you need me she will help you find me," she says smiling pointing to a button on the wall that looks like a door type bell
"Thank you," I say
"Or you can ask Enzo" she smiles before leaving the room
"I love your mother, she amazing" I whisper to Enzo who has made his way over to me shorty after Sophia left my room
"Yeah she's pretty great," he says capturing my lips into a kiss
I slowly melt into the kiss wrapping my arms around his neck to pull him closer
"And you're great to Enzo" I smile
"Guess we're all great huh?" He says chuckling
"Guess we are" I imitate him
"I don't sound like that sweetheart" he laughs
"Whatever" I roll my eyes
"Ok you settle in I'll be back in an hour so we can eat okay?" He says kissing me once again
"Okay, I love you," I say smiling
"And I love you Zara" he grins
Man I will never get tired of those words
And I take and savor these nice peaceful moments because I just know this is the calm before the storm
There's going to be appointments after appointments for preparation of the ball so I'm not going to get much rest.
But I'm to excited to care
