Zara's pov
It's been a couple of months, and I haven't had any sort of nightmares for a while
I did go through a little bit of a depression stage after killing my dad but Enzo was with me every step of the way just how he promised me and it took some time but I am mostly okay now
But other then that Life's been great, a couple of months ago was my birthday and Enzo took me to dinner and then got me some beautiful jewelry and a photo album full of photos of all of us, Even pictures of Enzo's parents and me when we were in Italy, it was the first birthday I felt truly happy and excited for
And life's been really great Enzo and I have been getting closer and closer and the trust and love has been growing more and more
Tonight...I did have a nightmare it was how my parents were alive and came after Enzo, Mia and I ...Enzo woke up and saw I was in cold sweats...
Enzo's pov
Zara and I have been doing amazing these past couple of months except when she was a little depressed a couple months back but I made sure to be there for her and other then that it's been okay and she hasn't had any nightmares or panic attacks in while
She even isn't scared of the rain anymore...each time it rained I would take her out in the rain and we would slow dance
Her face would light up each time we did it, she's not as afraid of the dark anymore I would take her star gazing all the time and little by little she wasn't scared anymore
And even though she's not scared we continue to do it because it's nice and peaceful to sit out on the balcony with each other and talk
And dancing in the rain makes her happy and is do anything to make her happy
I thought that her nightmares would almost completely go away now that her parents are dead and can't hurt her anymore, but I guess sometimes your mind plays tricks on you...
Because Sadly tonight I had to wake her up from a nightmare
She jolted awake in cold sweats breathing hard and tears following down her cheeks
"Sweetheart, hey hey look at me," I told her cupping her cheeks
"You're okay, your safe, I'm here, your not alone" I whispered
She shook her head No and took the sheets off
"Okay let's go to the balcony" I tell her grabbing her hand to lead her outside
The balcony in our room here in New York used to never get used but these past couple of months Zara and I would look at the stars at night with a cup of tea and talk and it's been nice
I know she feels worse with a panic attack coming on without fresh air
I sit on the balcony chair and she climbs in my lap crying and breathing hard
"Your fine sweetheart, was it about your parents?" I ask
She nods her head
"Hey look at me...they can't hurt you anymore I promise I saw their bodies as they took them away, I promise they can't hurt you anymore," I said stroking her hair and bringing her close to me
"They hurt you and Mia in the dream" she whispers
"it's ok it was just a dream, hey beautiful look at me," I say cupping her cheeks
"I know but still," she says choking on sobs
"Tell me what you see outside..." I ask
I learned that when someone has a panic attack you need to distract them from their thoughts
"The sky" she chokes out
"You" she whispers
"That's it keep going, take your time," I say rubbing her shoulders
"The stars..." she says
"Buildings" she whispers
She continues naming things for a few more minutes Until she calmed down a little
"Okay can you tell me what your first impression was when you first saw me?" I ask after thinking for a little bit
She smiles weekly through her tears and heavy breathing
"I thought you were the most gorgeous man I ever laid my eyes on" she croaks out
I smile
"And that you looked very sexy in your suit"
"Did I now?" I smirk
I say Trying everything to distract her
"And still are" she says clinging to me tightly
I laughs a little
"and that you had the most beautiful green eyes I had ever seen" she whispers
"Thank you sweetheart" I whisper kissing her forehead
"Do You want to know what I thought when I saw you?" I ask
"Definitely" she whispers her breathing getting better
"I thought you were the most breathtaking girl I had ever seen, I couldn't stop staring at you" I smile
"And that if it weren't for the fact my daughter was my number one priority I would've asked you out on the damn spot, but I thought a girl as beautiful as you would've for sure been taken" I say laughing remembering that day
"I remember wanting you on the spot to" she smirks slightly
"I also thought you were taken, well I thought you maybe had a wife but then I saw no ring so I thought you had a girlfriend" she slightly laughs while whispering
I laugh
We talk a little more about our first impressions of each other
"You better now?" I ask cupping her cheeks wiping the tears left over
"Yeah, thank you" she whispers
"You don't have to thank me sweetheart" I sigh
After a few seconds of silence I see her thinking about something and I see her lip starting to quiver I cup her cheeks
"Are you thinking about the dream?" I whisper
She nods
"It's okay sweetheart I'm here I won't let anyone hurt you or Mia I promise and your parents are gone they can't hurt you anymore" I whisper to her
"I know...but I- can Mia sleep with us tonight" she whispers tears flowing down her face
I can't help but smile a little
She's so cute
"Of course sweetheart," I say kissing her lips lightly
We sit outside for a bit more as I let her calm down, she then comes close to my lips
"I love you Enzo...thank you for knowing what to do with my panic attacks and everything," she says in a whisper against my lips
"I love you Zara and you don't have to thank me...I love you and will always be here" I say kissing her before picking her up so her legs are around my waist and taking us back inside
"I'll go grab Mia I'll be back..." I kiss her cheek putting her on the bed
She shakes her head "I'll come with you"
"Sweetheart no one can hurt you and I will come back in like 1 minute" I whisper
It breaks my heart that she's scared, I'll always protect her she doesn't need to worry about that...
"I know...but still" she whispers my heart breaks and I cave just like I always do when it comes to her
"Alright" I sigh while smiling kissing the tip of her nose
She lunges into my arms wrapping her legs around my waist and arms around my neck, and I walk to Mia's room
Zara's pov
Enzo grabs a sleeping Mia and puts her on our bed
I did move to his room about 2 months ago because we always fell asleep in his bed together anyway
Being in the same room as him has helped a lot with everything, and being in the same bed as him gives me a form of safety I have never felt before
He feels like home
And he is
Mia and him are my home.
They make me happier then I could've ever imagined
Mia sleeps one side while Enzo is close to me on the other
I smile kissing Mia's forehead
"That better?" Enzo whispers in my ear
I nod "much," I said kissing his cheek
"Okay now go back to sleep," he says stroking my hair and giving my lips a peck
"Goodnight I love you" I whisper
"Goodnight I love you Zara" he whispers back
I soon fall asleep to Enzo stroking my hair, feeling safe and content knowing there both okay and safe

I wake up to see Mia cuddled close to me and Enzo's head nuzzled in my neck
I can't help but smile I love them both so much
I quietly get up to make some breakfast
Maria's on another break to visit her family, she was so happy when she came back from visiting them that Enzo wanted to have her visit them as much as possible
So I've been able to cook more for Enzo and Mia instead of Maria
I make some chocolate chip pancakes for Mia with some berries, whipped cream, and some maple syrup on the side if she wants it and some strawberry milk that she loves
And then for Enzo and I, I make a stuffed omelet that I make a lot, filled with bell pepper, ham, cheese, some other veggies, and some dill to top it off
While I was making Enzo and I some coffee I felt hands wrap around my waist
"Good morning sweetheart," Enzo says in a sleepy raspy voice
"Good morning," I say turning slightly to kiss him
"How do you feel," he asks
"Much better thank you," I say leaning into him
"That's good," he says smiling
"I made breakfast it's on the table and I'm finishing up our coffee right now" I smile
"Thank you, I'll go get Mia so we can eat together," he says kissing me
"Okay," I say kissing my back
He deepens the kiss by cupping the back of my head with his hand and pushing me closer to him
I of course give in and kiss him back like always
I slightly pull apart "weren't you going to go get Mia" I say against his lips
He hums in response connecting our lips once again
I slightly laugh through the kiss "Enzo" I mumble against his lips
"Yes principessa?" He says (princess)
"The food is going to get cold" I say
He laughs "good thing we have a microwave" he pecks my lips
"Ha ha very funny" I smile
"Alright fine, but we will continue this later" he says against my lips
"I count on it" I kiss his lips lightly
We're finished eating and Enzo calls me to Mia's room
"Hey what's wrong ?" I ask worried that something happened to Mia
"Mia needs to ask you something," Enzo says smiling
"Okay?" I say walking in to see Mia holding an envelope
"What's up sweetie," I ask squatting to her level
"This is for you mommy" she smiles sweetly
I'll never get tired of her calling my mom
I take the envelope and look to my side to see Enzo smiling

I open the envelope slowly and see a certificate for...adoption
No FREAKING WAY
I look up at Enzo with tears in my eyes
"Are you serious..." I whisper
"If you want to be the other legal parent of Mia...you just have to sign there," he says pointing to the signature line
At this point, I'm full on crying
"I took care of all the legal stuff so now all you have to do is sign the papers...if you want to that is " he says
"I absolutely want to," I say wrapping my arms around Enzo's neck
Mia runs over to hug me and whispers "you're gonna be my real mommy now!"

"Yeah I guess am," I say in a whisper
I sign the paperwork and Enzo says he will take it to the legal office or whatever later
"Guess now next thing would be to make me your wife huh?" I grin at Enzo
He chuckles and whispers in my ear "definitely" kissing my ear
