Beyond the Trap of Yesterday - Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Zara's pov
It's the day of the nondate, yesterday Ava and I went to get our nails done after work
Now Ava is doing my makeup and hair for me per her request

I asked her to make it more natural, she also did my hair in soft curls
I am so nervous for some reason, I mean this isn't anything...it's just business
I grab my bag, key, wallet, phone and head out the door, but Ava grabbed my hand before I left and handed me my lip combo and said "ya know just in case someone messes it up" and sends me a wink
"Ughhh omg Ava who kisses on the first date"
"HA, so u do think it's a date!!!!" She squeal's
"Ugh, Ava quiet! I don't know what it is okay...I'm gonna head out I love you wish me luck" I kiss her cheek and hug her
I get to the restaurant 'damn I feel like royalty coming her' I mumble under my breath
I get inside and head to the front check-in
"Hi I'm here for a reservation under Moretti," I say with a smile
The woman at the front desk gives me a very judgmental look as she looks me up and down...well it thought I looked nice, oh well
"Mhm yeah sweetheart that's not gonna happen sorry," she says with a fake smile
"Umm? Did I get the wrong restaurant or something?" I ask
"No no he's here, I saw him that man looked delicious, but you're just not pretty enough to be talking to a man like that so I'm doing him a favor by not letting you in," she says with a smirk
I immediately turn around and start walking to the exit...no what the hell am I doing
I turn back around and Quickly call Enzo
(Phone conversation):
Zara: hey Enzo it's Zara
Enzo: hey what's up are u here?
Zara: yes I just arrived, but the woman at the front desk won't let me enter
Enzo: don't worry Stay there I'll come over and help
Zara: thank you, and sorry I didn't know this would happen
Enzo: it's not your fault don't worry bout it just wait there I'll be there in a second
Zara: ok thank you
( end of the phone call)
I see him slowly appear and oh man does he look gorgeous, he has a nice all-black suit on and he looks perfect
He says something to the woman at the front desk, and she didn't look too happy with whatever he said
He walks over to me "hi you look beautiful" he says
"Hi thank you, you look nice as well" I smile up at him
He puts his hand out and I take it and he walks us through the restaurant and we enter an elevator?
"Aren't we gonna sit in the restaurant?" I ask confused
"There's a private roof on the top that we're gonna go up to instead" oh damn this man would make a great date, if this was one...which it's not, I need to remind myself that
"Okay that sounds nice," I say with a smile
We get out of the elevator and my mouth feels like it's on the floor when we enter the rooftop, it's absolutely breathtaking and so romantic up here...is this a date? I genuinely can't even tell anymore
"Wow it's breathtaking up here, " I say taking in my surroundings
It's just us up here no one else, and I don't know what to make of that
"Thank you glad you like it" he smiles down at me
Wait why is he saying thank you?
I give him a confused look and he begins to say
" This is my restaurant, I designed the whole thing," he says like it's no big deal
"Wait...you own this restaurant! It's like the most expensive one in New York" I say shocked, I mean I knew he was a businessman of some sort from the last name but I wasn't aware he was this successful
"Ya I own a handful of Restaurants, Hotels, buildings, and whatnot, it's just my business" he shrugs
By now we're sitting down and have already ordered our food, the silence is a little awkward, but Enzo broke it before I could
" so I wanted to ask you here so we could talk about Mia, and the nanny situation," he says
" oh speaking of Mia where is she? with your girlfriend or something?" Damn, I think that was smooth hehe...
He chuckles and says " no I am not in a relationship and she's at home with my cook while we're here, what about you would your boyfriend like you being out with dinner with me?" Is he making sure I'm single?
Damn this man has his own cook...
I laugh and say "no I'm not in a relationship either"
"Sorry for assuming, I just thought a pretty girl like you would already have someone" he just called me pretty girl...oh my goodness I can't breathe
" ya I haven't been in a relationship ever actually, guys are just not interested in me" I shrug while lightly laughing
And it's true in Highschool guys didn't talk to me no one did, I didn't have any friends or anything, but I didn't mind it that way
I didn't wanna risk Mother and father hurting my friends or a maybe-boyfriend
"I would've thought you would have guys all around you asking for dates, guess I got lucky" HOLY shit...did he just?
I smile up at him "what about you, you probably have women throwing themselves at you"
"Maybe but I don't want to bring anyone near my daughter who I don't think is worth it" he smiles at me
We just stare at each other for a minute
Until he clears his throat and starts talking
"Well I would love it if you would watch Mia while I try to find a nanny, and maybe you could help me find one as well, I trust your opinion on who is best to watch Mia"
"I would love to watch her, and ya I can help you find someone, I only want the best for Mia, I only had one conversation with her and she already stole my heart" I smile up at him
"Oh by the way how old are you?" I ask because I just realized I have no clue
"I'm 28" he smiles "what about you?"
"23" I smile at him
"I thought you were younger" I laugh
"Does that bother you?" he laughs
"No not at all" I laugh
We finish up eating and talk a little more about what times I would have to watch her,and how sometimes I might need to watch her at his place.
And before I knew it we were getting up to leave
I never felt so calm in someone's company yet giddy, I feel like I can trust him for some reason, I wanted to ask about Mia's mother and whatnot but I didn't wanna scare him off because I know that if he asked about my parents I would absolutely clam up
"I had a really fun time thank you for dinner, and I'm excited to watch Mia" I smile up at him while he walks me over to my car
" I did too, we should do it again sometime" he returns the smile
Holy crap he wants to spend more time with me!!
"Ya that sounds good," I say
I hesitate a bit but just decide to go for it, and I walk up closer to him and hug him, it takes him a second but he wraps his arms around me returning the hug, and if how safe I felt in his arms wasn't enough this man pulls away slightly and kisses my forehead!!!
"Text me when you get home so I know you made it safe" he smiles down at me
Man I am still on cloud nine from a damn forehead kiss that I just nod and smile up at him
He chuckles and we say bye once again and I get in my car
Wow that was the best time I have ever had in the company of a man in a very long time
I get home and make sure to text Enzo that I made it home safe, he texts back a goodnight and that he had a good time
And I can't help but get ready for bed with a smile on my face
Ava is gonna freak out tomorrow when I tell her about today
I do make sure to tell Ava that I made it home safely as well and she says I have to spill everything tomorrow to her
