Even though it was takeout, it was pretty fancy, delivered in person by three people, and one of them was even a chef.
They even brought the pot itself, along with utensils, knives, the main course, side dishes, and all kinds of seasonings, completely taking over the island counter in the suite. It was actually the famous dish in Namukitts.
Justin and Elara sat side by side at the island counter, both of them curiously watching the chef work his magic.
The chef expertly took a knife and made an opening in a green coconut, then poured all the coconut water into the pot using up three whole coconuts.
Once he was done, he cracked open the shells, scooped out the coconut meat, tossed it into the pot, and added an equal amount of drinking water. While waiting for the water to boil, the chef started mixing up the special dipping sauce.
The other two who came along began cleaning up the coconut shells and trash, putting away the utensils and knives, and setting out several plates of side dishes.
The finished dipping sauce filled a big bowl. The chef served up two smaller bowls and placed them in front of Elara and Justin, keeping the rest for later. Once the water was boiling, the chef tossed in the pre-cut chicken.
The girl smiled and explained, "This is Namukitts' specialty. We slaughter the chickens fresh in the morning. After the water boils, it only takes twenty minutes to cook. The meat is tender, juicy, and not gamey or dry."
She then highlighted the wild mushrooms unique to Namukitts, rare and expensive. Added to the chicken soup, they're delicious but must be cooked for thirty minutes to avoid poisoning. Elara and Justin nodded obediently.
After the group cleaned up the island counter, they left. The chicken in the pot smelled delicious, instantly arousing Elara's appetite. Both of them simultaneously picked up their fork, took a piece of chicken, dipped it in the sauce, and popped it into their mouths.
Elara's cheeks puffed out adorably as she smiled, her eyes curving into crescents. "Seriously, this is delicious. The chicken is insanely tender. And this sauce is so unique, I've never had anything like this back in Veritasiton."
The sauce was tangy and spicy, with little green lemons and tiny peppers. It was truly the soul of the chicken.
Justin seemed to really enjoy the taste too; his face lit up with a bright smile. "Chicken is the most famous dish here in Namukitts. It'd be a shame not to try it while we're here. Not bad for takeout, right?"
Elara nodded. "I thought takeout would just be some boxed meals, never expected to get coconut chicken like this."
Justin poured her a glass of lemon water to cut the richness. He grinned. "When you're with me, there's no way you'll be shortchanged. Of course, I'm gonna make sure you eat well and live it up."
Elara was so satisfied she almost forgot she was supposed to be detained in Veritasiton tonight. She said, "Hot pot on a rainy day indoors is just the best. I don't even want to leave anymore, let alone go back to Veritasiton."
Justin laughed, "Even if I agreed, do you think Adrian would? He'd probably fly a plane over here himself just to haul you back."
Elara rolled her eyes. "That's a bit much. If he really flew over here, I wouldn't even dare get on the plane."
They both laughed, each grabbing a chicken leg. Then, out of nowhere, Justin blurted. "So, is Adrian any good in bed?"
Elara had just bitten into the chicken leg when she was startled by Justin's words. She widened her eyes and released the chicken leg from her mouth, thinking she must have heard wrong. "What?"
"If Adrian isn't really up to the task in bed, just go easy on him," Justin said, sounding way too serious.
He suddenly looked at Elara with a bit of pity, glanced at the chicken leg in his bowl, then picked it up and dropped it into her bowl. His face was full of sympathy and genuine concern.
Justin added, "Hey, maybe it's something that can be fixed."
Elara was confused again. She finally blurted out. "Justin, what are you even talking about? What do you mean not that good in that way?"
'Even I don't know anything about this. How does Justin know?' Elara wondered, feeling both confused and a little speechless.
Justin looked genuinely troubled, then leaned in close to Elara's ear and whispered a few words, all secretive. "Really?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Justin nodded seriously. "Yeah, really."
"No way," Elara said, frowning.
"How could it not be? Didn't you already experience it yourself?" Justin teased.
Elara didn't know how to explain it. She and Adrian hadn't actually slept together, so she didn't know if he was really not good in bed or not.
But the few times they'd messed around with their hands, he actually lasted pretty long. Except for yesterday, when he said his legs felt a bit weak afterwards.
Justin, who had just picked up a chicken wing from the pot, dropped it onto the island counter. "Wait, don't tell me you two haven't actually done it yet?"
Elara fell silent.
Justin kept going. "Wait, for real? Adrian really can't do it? He can't even get it up? Like, he can't even start—" Elara grabbed the chicken leg he'd given her and stuffed it into his mouth to shut him up.
That put an end to that topic. They moved on to chatting about all sorts of other things, and before they knew it, they'd spent over an hour eating hot pot and talking.
Both of them had almost finished eating when Justin noticed the wild mushrooms hadn't been added. "We forgot the mushrooms," he said, and dumped the whole plate into the pot, despite their high cost.
Just then, his phone rang. "What's up, Jade? Now? Alright," Justin said.
Elara, who was munching on some fruit, asked, "What's going on?"
Justin replied, "Jade said there's gonna be a big storm tonight, so we're leaving a few hours early. She's coming to pick us up now. She'll be here any minute."
"Oh, huh? Jade's going to Veritasiton too?" Elara asked.
"Yeah, she's the pilot. If she doesn't go, are we supposed to fly the plane back ourselves?" Justin said, raising an eyebrow.
'Actually, I guess we could manage,' Elara thought offhandedly. She asked, sounding nonchalant, "Wait, Jade can pilot a plane too?"
Justin grinned. "Adrian, Lucas, and Jade all went to flight school together."
"So they're classmates from pilot training, not like regular school,' Elara realized. Then something else popped into Elara's mind.
"Wait, you mean Adrian can actually fly a plane?" Elara blurted out, wide-eyed.
"Yeah, but he almost never does," Justin replied.
'I never would've guessed Adrian could fly a plane,' Elara thought, still a little stunned.
"Don't tell me Adrian's into collecting planes now too?" She teased. 'After all, his garage was already packed with luxury cars. Does he have planes stashed in there too?' she wondered.
Justin chuckled. "No, he only has one private jet. It's parked at Lucas's private airport, and he hardly ever flies it." Elara nodded.
Just then, Justin's phone buzzed with a message. Jade, [I'm here. Come down.]
"Jade's here, we gotta go," Justin said. He glanced at the wild mushrooms that had just finished cooking in the pot, picked up and said, "These mushrooms are so flavorful, you have to try them."
Elara took a few bites and had to admit, they were incredibly tasty. So she helped herself to several more forks' worth. Before they knew it, they'd polished off the whole plate of mushrooms.
After they finished eating, Elara suddenly remembered something. "Justin, when did you put the mushrooms in? Has it been thirty minutes yet?" Elara asked.
'Oh shit,' Justin thought. He coughed guiltily. "It's been about long enough, don't worry. My mom says enoki mushrooms only need a few minutes to cook. Come on, let's go. Jade's waiting downstairs."
Elara grabbed her bag from her room and followed Justin downstairs. In the car, Jade was dressed in tight black clothes, her figure absolutely stunning.
The private airport was just around the corner, a ten-minute drive away. Elara and Justin boarded the plane and settled into the adjacent sofas, buckling their seatbelts.
Jade wasn't flying solo. She had a few bodyguards and another pilot friend with her. The plane slowly ascended, then leveled off high above the clouds, smooth and steady. Elara stared out the window at the dark clouds, feeling a bit drowsy.
She drifted off for a short nap, but then suddenly felt a wave of dizziness. She opened her eyes and glanced over at Justin, who was smiling goofily beside her. "Justin, do you feel the plane shaking?" Elara asked.
Justin looked at her. "Yeah, I feel it."
Elara sat up straight, and suddenly, everything went white.
"Elara, why are you dancing?" Justin mumbled, sounding dazed.
Elara glanced at Justin, eyes wide in shock. "Adrian, you're flying." She reached out, trying to catch "Adrian." She grabbed Justin by the neck, giggling, "Adrian, I caught you."
Justin reached up and pinched Elara's cheek. "Elara, gimme a kiss."
Elara yanked on Justin's hair. "Adrian, how dare you try to take advantage of your queen?"
Just then, Jade came out of the cockpit and saw the two of them unbuckled and hugged, laughing heartily.
"Baby, I'm taking you home to see your mom." Justin slurred, still laughing.
"Adrian, you're so handsome." Elara giggled, looking at him with stars in her eyes.
Jade suddenly remembered how the two of them had been bickering over those wild mushrooms in the car earlier. 'Wait, could it be mushroom poisoning?' Jade wondered to herself.
At eight that evening in Veritasiton Airport, the private jet landed at the airport. The cabin door opened, and the stairs were lowered.
Adrian waited below for a bit, but when no one came out, he took the stairs two at a time and stepped inside. He saw Elara and Justin tied to the sofa seats. Adrian raised an eyebrow. "Is this your idea of a greeting?"
Jade rubbed her temples. "These two idiots ate some mushrooms and got themselves poisoned. We need to get them to the hospital, like, now."
Adrian, fuming, started untying Elara. Elara, still all giddy from the mushrooms, crashed right into Adrian's arms. Adrian grinned. "Seriously? Even when you're poisoned, you still can't get enough of me?"
Elara kept burrowing into his arms, even rubbing her cheek against Adrian's face. "Daddy!" Adrian fell silent.
