“You won’t break your promise?” Marcus asked, arching his eyebrow.
“I won’t. I swear.” She said, kissing his hands again. “And I’m glad that you’re such an intelligent boy, Marcus but don’t lose your innocence this soon, baby. I agree that there are some issues between your mom and dad, but you don’t have to worry so much.”
“But…”
“Listen to me first and then ask your questions, okay?” Diana asked, to which Marcus nodded. “Yes, I agree that I shouldn’t have lied to you or Judy, and I’m sorry for that. Yes, I agree that your dad didn’t know about you two until now. I also agree that he acted to be normal even though it was far away from the truth. But you see, I didn’t want you or Judy to take so much stress; that’s why I kept lying about everything. But… but I have planned to tell you both about it on your 5th birthday. You can confirm about it with Aunt Maddie or Aunt Vígi if you don’t trust my words then.”
“I trust you, Mom,” Marcus said quickly.
Diana smiled before continuing, “There are things that I will share with you both in detail when you will grow a little older. As for now, just try to understand your parent got… got separated five years back, like decided to stay away from each other.”
“Oooo,” Marcus carefully listened to what his mother was saying.
“Your dad didn’t want me to contact him ever again for any reason. But at the time, neither of us knew that I was pregnant with you two. So, we just chose our different paths for ourselves, and when I came to know about you two, I didn’t inform about the same to him.” Diana explained, on which Marcus furrowed his eyebrow.
“That’s your parent’s story, and you have nothing to do with that part. Your relationship with dad shouldn’t depend on this fact. If you have any doubt about your dad, then trust me, baby, he is the best father any child can ever have. Even though he has found out about you two recently, but I can bet that he is already in love with you and want to be in your life.”
“But… but what about you, Mom? Doesn’t he love you and want you in his life?”
“Ah!” Diana started thinking how she should answer about this question. If she would tell the truth that his dad loved someone else but not her mother, then Marcus might never go close to Brandon.

“I promise.” Marcus agreed, placing his hand over her. This was what she was scared of. This news was disturbing her baby, and she was scared that if things would get sorted soon then, it might affect Marcus’s mental health. She pulled Marcus closer to her heart and caressed his head. “Mom, I want to stay with you both.”
A part of her knew that Marcus was feeling emotional turmoil before this fact. He might be feeling confused, sad, helpless, and scared that he might get love from only one parent, or he might not have a normal family.
