I subconsciously stepped back, but he suddenly grabbed my wrist. I looked up and was caught off guard by his deep black eyes.
At the same time, he lowered his head slightly and gave me a light kiss. His soft lips and the faint minty fragrance made me go into a daze.
I heard his gentle voice. "I'm very happy to see you in this wedding dress."
I opened my eyes wide. His eyes were clear, and they seemed to be smiling.
"Quinn, what's wrong with you?" I was stunned. I wasn't used to him flirting with me.
"Natalia. I want to compensate for what happened in the past. It doesn't matter why you have decided to marry me now," Quinn suddenly said seriously.
Then, he lowered his head to me again. Instinctively, I thought he would kiss me again.
Instinctively, I closed my eyes.
After waiting for a long time, what I anticipated didn't happen.
I opened my eyes and saw that Quinn had taken a step back and was looking at me with a wicked smile. "What are you expecting with your eyes closed?"
I blushed immediately. He was making fun of me.
My phone rang. I glared at him and answered the call. Shirley asked, "Natalia, are you and Quinn ready? Many guests have already arrived."
"We'll be right out," I replied and walked out of the changing room with Quinn.
I was extremely embarrassed by Quinn's teasing. I didn't want to walk side by side with him, so I quickened my pace.
Unexpectedly, I bumped into a male waiter.
Luckily the waiter didn't have a tray in his hand. I quickly said, "I'm sorry."
"I'm fine." His voice sounded strange as if he squeezed his throat to speak.
Instinctively, I looked at him. He shot me a glance and turned quickly to walk away.
I didn't get a good look at him, but I had a vague sense of déjà vu.
As welcoming guests was more important, I didn't pay much attention to it and quickly went to the banquet hall.
At noon, the wedding ceremony officially began. Quinn and I stood on the stage and received the applause and blessings of our relatives and friends.
"Next, let's invite the bride and groom to exchange rings," The emcee said enthusiastically.
This segment was specially arranged. The ring would be placed in Benedict's hands, and then Shirley would carry Benedict onto the stage.
As soon as the emcee finished speaking, my gaze subconsciously looked for Shirley and Benedict.
It was also at this moment that I caught sight of the male waiter I had bumped into earlier.
He was standing in the corner, making a call on his cell phone.
The ballroom spotlight came on. At the same time, I got a good look at the waiter's face.
I thought, 'Is that Jim Chander?'
He was one of Forrest Green's men. The one who almost killed me on the uninhabited island.
I wondered why he was here.
I was so stunned that I had goosebumps all over my body. I didn't even notice when Shirley and Benedict went on stage.
"Bride, please take the wedding ring that symbolizes love from your precious hands!" The emcee saw that I was in a daze, and he raised his voice to remind me.
I trembled as I came back to my senses and tried to calm myself down.
The ceremony had to go on. I couldn't lose my composure on the stage.
Quinn noticed my strange behavior. When we exchanged rings, he asked me softly, "What happened?"
I looked up at him. In this situation, I couldn't think of anything else but to count on him.
I took a step forward and hugged him. I put my lips close to his ear and told him what had happened.
As soon as he heard what I said, Quinn said calmly, "Don't worry, I'll handle it."
