I looked up and met Quinn's shiny eyes. They seemed to exude a soothing effect, and I became less anxious and nervous.
After exchanging rings, Quinn and I heard loud applause and felt showers of flowers falling on us.
The ceremony went on as planned.
After the wedding banquet began, Quinn took my hand, and we walked down the stage. He quickly called Finn over.
"Mr. Madden, what can I do for you?" Finn asked softly when he noticed Quinn's serious expression.
I saw Quinn whisper in Finn's ear.
At this moment, the guests in the banquet hall were extremely lively. Even though I was standing close to Quinn, I couldn't hear clearly.
"Mr. Madden, don't worry. I know what to do." Finn turned around and left the banquet hall.
I realized that Quinn must have arranged for Finn to deal with Jim. I couldn't help but sweat.
I still shuddered when I thought of what Jim had done on the unnamed island.
Suddenly, Quinn held my tightly clenched fist.
"Calm down, I'm here." A low and magnetic voice entered my ears.
My heart skipped a beat as I nodded at him. Only then did I relax a little.
"Let's go and have a drink first." Quinn held my hand and walked toward the banquet hall. He whispered, "I've replaced your drinks. You can drink to your heart's content and you won't get drunk."
I was surprised. I didn't expect him to even consider these details.
We went to the banquet hand in hand to propose a toast to everyone. Strangely, the wine in my glass looked and smelled the same.
However, there was a faint lemon fragrance in the wine. The wine tasted both sweet and sour.
As we toasted and drank, I began to feel relaxed.
Just as the toast ceremony ended, Finn appeared in the banquet hall.
After noticing Finn, I subconsciously went closer to Quinn and approached Finn.
"Mr. Madden, Jim has been caught," Finn said calmly.
This time, I could hear what Finn said. I finally felt safe.
Soon, Finn brought us to a private room in the corner.
At this moment, Jim was tied up and was in a miserable state. Other than the bruises on his face, his limbs seemed fractured. Two of his index and middle fingers had been broken.
It was obvious that he had experienced an unusually harsh interrogation just now.
"Mr. Madden, Mrs. Madden, please spare my life. I... I'll tell you everything. Please don't kill me!"
When Jim saw me and Quinn, he kept begging for mercy though he was in great pain.
"Did he confess?" Quinn asked Finn while staring at Jim viciously.
Without waiting for Finn to answer, Jim said with a sobbing tone, "I've confessed. I've confessed everything. Forrest Green asked me to create problems at your wedding."
"He asked me to change the video on the hotel's big screen at the opening of the wedding banquet to show photos of Ben Smith's scandal so that it will completely ruin your wedding and humiliate the Smith family."
Jim was especially agitated. Blood seeped out of the corner of his mouth and flowed onto the ground. He knelt and begged for mercy, wanting to approach me.
Quinn frowned and pulled me into his arms.
Finn quickly took a few steps forward to cover Jim's head with a sack.
Jim struggled for a moment before fainting. The noisy private room instantly became much quieter.
"Mr. Madden, it's all thanks to Mrs. Madden's timely discovery."
Finn told Quinn what happened. "When our people found Jim, he was about to insert the USB drive into the hotel's computer. If it was a second later, I'm afraid it would have caused a huge problem."
Everyone knew Ben's status. In addition, the guests at the wedding today were all from wealthy families and had high societal status. If they saw the photos of Ben with another woman, it would probably cause a great deal of damage to both the Smith and Lee families.
Thinking of this, I felt a lingering fear. I didn't dare to imagine what would happen to Jim.
