Quinn noticed the change in my mood and comforted me softly, "Everything has been resolved. Forrest's scheme did not succeed."
"I know. It's just that I still feel a lingering fear when I think about it." I nodded and smiled. "Perhaps what Forrest did on the island disgusted me so much that I feel discomfort just by hearing his name."
It was originally a joke to ease the atmosphere, but I did not expect Quinn to take it seriously.
His expression suddenly turned serious as he said to me in a low voice, "When we catch Forrest, choose any method you want."
"What?" For a moment, I didn't understand what Quinn meant.
Finn added, "Mrs. Madden, what Mr. Madden means is that when we catch Forrest, you can do whatever you want with him."
I opened my eyes wide and looked at Quinn. He nodded slightly, agreeing with what Finn said.
I had seen Quinn's methods of dealing with enemies.
Although Forrest was despicable, I didn't think that it was good to punish him cruelly.
Just as I was letting my imagination run wild, Quinn suddenly pulled me back from my thoughts and spoke, "Don't daydream. Today, you just have to think about me."
I froze and started to blush.
Finn looked embarrassed. It was obvious that he felt he shouldn't be here.
I saw Finn move a few steps to the door and was about to leave silently.
"Finn, remember to destroy the USB drive completely," Quinn instructed. "Also, check the hotel's surveillance cameras and find out how Jim sneaked in. Don't let go of any clues."
"Yes, Mr. Madden. Don't worry." Finn nodded repeatedly. "I'll arrange for someone to bring Jim away."
However, just as Finn pushed open the door of the private room, he trembled, and he quickly closed the door again.
Finn's expression changed slightly. "Mr. Madden, Mrs. Smith seems to be walking this way."
Quinn and I looked at each other, and we looked at Jim who was unconscious at the same time.
We couldn't let Shirley know about this.
"I'll deal with it," I said.
Before I could finish speaking, there was a knock on the door of the private room.
"Natalia, are you in there?" Shirley's voice came through the crack in the door.
She asked with concern, "Is your stomach feeling uncomfortable after drinking too much?"
"Mom, I'm fine. I'm just taking a break here." I quickly went out to deal with the situation and blocked my mother's line of sight. I said coquettishly, "It's just that I'm a little tired after a long day."
My mother was relieved when she heard this. She held my hand and said with much concern, "The banquet will end soon. Hold on for a while longer. Go back and rest early."
"Yes, thanks, Mom. You've worked hard for me all day too."
I held her arm and left the private room.
After the wedding banquet, Quinn and I dragged ourselves back to the villa.
Benedict had been excited for the entire day. He had already fallen asleep in the car. The nanny brought him back to his room.
From today onwards, I would officially move out of the Smith family. In addition to the video, I would always be thinking about my mother.
Quinn saw my troubled expression and knew what I was thinking.
"How do you plan to deal with Ben's affair?" He looked at me with a deep gaze.
I came back to my senses and sighed deeply. I shook my head and said frankly, "Actually, I don't have a clue either."
As a daughter, I didn't want my loving mother to get hurt.
Ben was indeed disgusting for having an affair, but he was still my father.
Quinn's starry eyes stared at me as if encouraging me to continue.
I raised my head and looked at him. In the end, I couldn't help but voice out the concerns in my heart. "To save me, my father risked Maple Media and his life. At the critical moment, he even agreed to help Forrest do illegal stuff."
As soon as I finished speaking, Quinn looked at me for a moment and said slowly, "You're too naive."
