My mother's reaction made it impossible for me to tell her the truth.
While I felt very upset for my mom, I became more dissatisfied and angry with my father.
I had just finished my wedding, and my mother was still very happy for me. I planned to wait for a few days before telling her about my father's affair.
"Natalia, I forgot to ask you. Where are you going for your honeymoon?"
My mother put down her cup and asked me in a low voice, "When you guys are on your honeymoon, Benedict can stay here. I'll help you take care of him, okay?"
"Mom, Quinn and I don't plan to go anywhere."
"What? You're not going for your honeymoon?" Shirley was a little surprised and looked at Quinn with dissatisfaction.
I quickly explained, "Mom, don't misunderstand. The Dazzling Project is going to start in the next few days. You know how important this project is. We can go for our honeymoon in the future."
I held my mother's hand and said coquettishly, "When Quinn and I have our honeymoon, we will definitely leave Benedict here for you to take care of."
"That's more like it." Only then did she smile.
At noon, we stayed and had lunch with my mother.
After lunch, we said our goodbyes and returned to the Madden family mansion.
Alex loved Benedict very much. Perhaps to make up for the pollen allergy last time, Alex announced something stunning in public.
"I'm going to give Benedict 10% of the corporation's shares as a gift when he turns two next month."
I was a little surprised. Just as I was about to speak, Quinn grabbed my wrist and signaled to me not to reject it. This was what Benedict should get.
Tina and Joseph's expressions changed slightly.
"Of course, we have no objections to Dad's decision." Joseph forced a smile though he was clearly not satisfied.
Tina followed suit and said, "I want to personally organize Benedict's birthday party next month. This is also a joyous occasion for the Madden family."
"When the time comes, we'll hold a grand birthday banquet at the old residence. Our family can also have a good gathering." Joseph continued after his wife.
Alex nodded in relief.
As he carried Benedict and teased him, he asked gently, "Are you happy, Benedict? Grandpa will order a big cake for you, okay?"
"Grandpa." Benedict leaned into Alex's arms and agreed softly.
He was young and still learning how to speak. He could not completely understand what the adults were saying.
However, calling Alex "Grandpa" melted Alex's heart. "Benedict is such an obedient boy."
Tina also smiled and agreed. She praised Benedict for being polite and said that he would be smart when he grew up.
Benedict yawned. He seemed to be a little tired.
Just as I was about to take Benedict to rest, Tina suddenly changed the topic and said, "Dad, speaking of family gatherings, I haven't seen Georgia recently. I wonder what she's been busy with lately?"
Tina suddenly mentioned Georgia. I sensed that she did it on purpose.
Quinn and I looked at each other and tacitly did not reply.
Tina smiled awkwardly, yet acted respectfully. She turned to look at Joseph. "Hubby, you're Georgia's brother after all. What has she been doing recently? Don't tell me you don't know. Although there were some arguments previously, we're still family after all. There shouldn't be any grudges."
After Tina finished speaking, she smiled and glanced at Quinn.
Quinn chose to ignore her.
I turned a blind eye to it and walked to Alex. I carried Benedict over and changed the topic. "Grandpa, Benedict seems to be sleepy. Why don't I carry him to rest first?"
Alex seemed to be ignoring Tina too. He said sternly, "I spent a lot of money to hire the best childcare teacher in Enschester to take care of Benedict."
As soon as he finished speaking, the childcare teacher quickly walked over and carried Benedict away.
We thought that after this, no one would talk about Georgia.
Unexpectedly, Tina continued, "Hubby, I asked you a question. Dad and Quinn are both here. Those who don't know might think that you don't care about Georgia!"
Joseph glanced at Alex and sighed while shaking his head.
Joseph said, "Dad, Georgia hasn't been to the branch company for a long time. At first, I thought that she was just throwing a tantrum, so I didn't take it seriously." After he finished speaking, his expression became more serious. "But I asked everyone in the branch company this weekend, especially Georgia's assistant, but they couldn't contact her either."
"What?" Tina looked shocked.
I scoffed in my heart. It was a pity that this couple didn't perform double acts professionally.
"Dad, what should we do? Did something happen to Georgia?" Tina was so frightened that her face turned pale. She kept looking at Alex.
"She did something wrong and still dared to throw a tantrum?" Alex's expression was gloomy. He flicked his sleeves and stood up. He warned, "All of you don't have to bother about her. Don't mention her name in front of me in the future."
"Grandpa, don't be angry. Your health is important." I tried to calm Alex and helped him sit down on the sofa.
Tina also smiled and said, "Yes, getting angry is bad for your health, Dad. No matter what, Georgia is a member of the Madden family. Blood is thicker than water. Nobody can deny that."
She paused for a moment and exchanged glances with Joseph.
Joseph frowned and said, "It's fine if Georgia throws a tantrum, but the shareholders' year-end meeting will be held in two months. As the person in charge of Nords Clothing, if Georgia doesn't show up, it'll be difficult for us to explain to everyone."
When Alex heard this, his face darkened again.
After talking for so long, the couple finally revealed their true colors.
Nords Clothing was a clothing brand under the Madden Group. It was founded by Alex for his wife. Now, Georgia was in charge.
Quinn had long known what the couple was up to. He said with a faint smile, "Tina, are you interested in the clothing company that Georgia manages?" Quinn was so direct that his words caught Tina by surprise.
Tina was stunned. Joseph was no longer as gentle and humble as before. He suddenly frowned and said, "Quinn, how can you talk like this to Tina like this?"
Quinn said disapprovingly and smiled, "I heard that Lindsey has already obtained double degrees in fashion design and operations management. She's preparing to return to the country soon. I haven't confirmed this good news with you."
Tina's expression became tense. She did not expect Quinn to be so well-informed.
She looked at Joseph helplessly, not forgetting to peek at Alex's reaction.
Joseph looked deeply at Quinn and forced a smile. "Quinn, I didn't expect you to be so concerned about Lindsey's matters."
"Of course. Lindsey is my cousin after all. We are family." Quinn smiled as he used Tina's words.
Tina was stunned for a moment before she smiled and tried to get over her embarrassment. "That's right. Lindsey has been overseas for so long, and she hasn't seen Benedict yet. She'll come back in time to attend Benedict's birthday banquet.
