I pursed my lips and suddenly felt like I was being talked to by my superior. I stood rooted to the floor and waited to be scolded. Unexpectedly, Quinn did not continue after saying this.
My palm suddenly felt warm. He held my hand and asked me in a low voice, "Where are the car keys?"
I was stunned for a moment before I realized that he had come in Jess's car.
I took out my car keys and handed them to him. On the way, we talked about Jess and Raelynn.
"I hope Jess comes to realize that relationships require effort from both sides," I muttered under my breath.
Quinn suddenly asked me, "What is your dream?"
"Why did you think of asking this?" I was a little surprised and looked up at him.
Quinn pondered for a moment and said, "I forced you to work in the Madden Group in the past."
He clenched and unclenched his hands on the steering wheel. He seemed to think for a long time before continuing, "If you don't like the work of the Madden Group, I can support you in doing something else."
My heart trembled, and I couldn't tell whether I was shocked or flattered.
Actually, ever since Diana appeared, I knew that Quinn was actually very good at taking care of people.
Once upon a time, I craved his care. Now that he really did it, I was at a loss.
"Actually, after I came to work at the Madden Group, my abilities in all aspects have improved and I've grown a lot." I adjusted my expression and smiled at Quinn. "I love this job. My dream is to do all the work in my hands well."
Quinn looked straight ahead and focused on driving. The corners of his lips curled up slightly as he teased me softly, "So your dream is to be my virtuous wife. Then I'm really honored."
The car was very quiet, and his low and pleasant laughter was especially clear. His rich voice was stuck to my eardrums. I blushed instantly.
When I got home, the childcare teacher told me that Benedict had fallen asleep.
After washing up, I lay down on the spacious double bed and noticed Quinn intently reviewing documents on his Pad.
"Are you still busy at this hour?" I asked casually.
"It's an email from an overseas branch. I'll rest after I'm done." Quinn adjusted the brightness of the screen and said to me, "Go to sleep first. Don't wait for me."
"Okay." I lay on the bed but was not sleepy at all. I turned sideways and looked at Quinn.
Quinn, who was still working in his pajamas, was very charming. Strands of hair naturally fell across his forehead, his fine eyelashes casting shadows under the light, softening the distinct contours of his features.
The more I watched, the more entranced I became until he caught me out of the corner of his eye. Our eyes met, and my face burned.
"Why? Aren't you sleepy?" Quinn put down the Pad and looked at me.
I pretended to be calm, grabbed the corner of the blanket, and reminded him, "It's already very late. Don't work too hard."
"Are you feeling sorry for me?" Quinn raised his eyebrows and asked me.
Yawning, I didn't respond to him directly. I just emphasized not to stay up late. A moment later, I fell asleep in a daze. In my sleep, I felt someone close behind me.
Strong arms went gently around me. "Good night. Sweet dreams," Quinn whispered in my ear.
I slept especially soundly that night.
There were always endless things to do on a workday. This morning, I had just finished a meeting and had yet to take a sip of water when I received a new message. Maple Media's project needed to be followed up.
I asked Raelynn to stay behind to deal with the matters related to the morning meeting and did not let her accompany me.
"Ms. Hinton, I'm fine now. I won't let my personal feelings affect my work," Raelynn took the initiative to explain.
"You're mistaken. I've never questioned your ability to work." I smiled and patted her shoulder. "My family is in Maple Media. Apart from following up on the project, I also want to do some private matters."
I drove to Maple Media alone. After finishing my work, I was about to go to Ben's office when a woman suddenly called after me.
