"Natalia, believe me one last time. I'm begging you. Leave Quinn, okay?" Aiden grabbed my hand tightly, his eyes red. "I don't want to see you get hurt. Quinn isn't worthy of your trust. Why do you still want to stay by his side?"
"Let go!" I felt that Aiden was really crazy.
I originally thought that my stern words last time had awakened him, but it seemed he was still stubbornly misguided.
The surrounding diners looked over in unison.
I shook him off sharply and stormed out of the restaurant. By the time I sat in the car, it was as if all my strength had been sucked out of me.
I leaned over the steering wheel and pounded a few times. It was as if I had fallen into a swamp. I fell into a deep sense of powerlessness. The more I struggled, the deeper I fell.
When I forced myself to stay awake and drove home, I saw Quinn's car outside the villa area. It was a black Bentley SUV. I could see the license plate number clearly.
It was the Madden Group's lunch break. Why would Quinn be back? Could it be that he specially came home to eat with Benedict?
I kept my eyes glued to his car. Just as I was in a daze, I saw the car suddenly turn around at the entrance of the villa area and drive away in the opposite direction.
I thought he was going home. For some reason, I felt uneasy and started my car to follow Quinn.
We drove through the city center and headed toward the suburbs.
After following him for more than half an hour, I realized that this path was getting more and more familiar. The place he was going to was clearly the Madden family's winery in the suburbs.
Besides wine tasting, during the late summer and early autumn seasons, members of the Madden family occasionally come here to escape the heat.
If not for the sudden death of Mary this year, Benedict and I would have come here to escape the heat.
To avoid exposure, I kept a distance from Quinn's car. I saw the car pull into the winery with my own eyes.
Looking past the carved fence, I saw clothes and sheets drying on the second-floor terrace. It was obvious that someone was living there.
For some reason, a ridiculous thought arose in my mind at that moment.
The person staying in the Madden Winery might be the Clarissa that George had mentioned, who insisted on returning to the country.
Quinn's car drove into the courtyard.
I slammed on the brakes, suddenly realizing I'd be spotted if I followed. I looked in the direction of the winery and was shocked by the thought that flashed across my mind.
The truth was close at hand, but I didn't have the courage to verify it. I didn't even dare to push open the car door.
In just a few seconds, it felt like a century. I thought sullenly that even if Clarissa lived here, it had nothing to do with me. But even I found my actions of tailing to be ridiculous.
The more I thought about it, the more frustrated I felt. Perhaps I should stop embarrassing myself here and go back quickly.
I took a deep breath and was about to turn around and drive away when I saw George walk out of the winery.
Although I bent down as quickly as I could to dodge, the sharp-eyed George noticed me. He hurried over and knocked on my window with his finger.
"You..." George hesitated. From my embarrassed and panicked expression, he had already guessed that I had secretly followed Quinn here.
I could only roll down the car window. Since he had discovered me, there was nothing to hide.
