George's eyes met mine. He pointed at the door of the Madden Winery and asked me in surprise, "You didn't come with Quinn, did you?"
I pursed my lips, not knowing how to answer.
George smiled knowingly and stopped making things difficult for me. "What do you want to ask me?"
"Will you answer truthfully if I ask?" I blurted out in surprise.
George nodded. "Since you're already here, there's no need for me to hide anything."
I pursed my lips. I hadn't expected him to be so forthright. Unable to suppress the confusion in my heart, I went all out. I fixed my eyes on him and said, "Clarissa..." However, the words became difficult to say.
George took the initiative to nod as if he understood what I meant. He said softly, "Clarissa does live in the winery, and as you can see, Quinn often comes to visit her.
"Actually, Clarissa didn't plan to stay here at first. It was Quinn who took the initiative to let her stay here. After all, the environment here is good and more suitable for recuperation.
"If nothing goes wrong, Clarissa might stay in Enschester in the future. Her condition has stabilized these two days."
There was too much information in George's honest words. I was stunned for a moment.
He crossed his arms over his chest, his expression mild as he smiled. "Mrs. Madden. Anything else you want to ask?"
The title "Mrs. Madden" pulled me back from my thoughts.
It was as if an extremely thin needle had pierced into my heart. My heart trembled, but I pretended to be calm as I looked at him. "Dr. Johnson, why are you telling me these?"
George smiled and said noncommittally, "I'm just telling you what you want to know. What I mean is not important. What's important is what Quinn means. You might not know anything in the past, but you have to face it in the future, right?"
What would I have to face in the future? George's words were meaningful, but my remaining dignity did not allow me to continue asking him.
"Thank you for telling me this. I won't take up any more of your time." I expressionlessly closed the window.
George nodded and left gracefully without saying anything else.
Coincidentally, her phone rang. It was a call from York.
Through the car window, I looked at George who was gradually walking away. I suppressed the sadness in my heart and picked up York's call.
"Where are you?" York asked me.
I didn't understand and asked him back, "What is it?"
"I heard that you were kicked out of the Madden Group," York said. I thought he was calling to mock me. Just as I was about to hang up, he said calmly, "Do you need me to do something for you?"
I was stunned, wondering if it was his concern about me.
"I don't need your pity," I said indifferently. Suddenly, I thought of something and paused before continuing, "However, I have something to tell you. Aiden admits that he lied. Grandma's death has nothing to do with Quinn."
York snorted coldly, "Natalia, you're really something! You've already been kicked out, yet you still speak up for Quinn."
I took a deep breath and said, "York, I'm telling you this because I don't think Grandma can die for no reason. My abilities are limited now. I hope you can help me find out the truth!"
This was not just to prove Quinn's innocence. More importantly, Mary must rest in peace.
On the other end of the phone, York was silent for a few seconds. Before he hung up, he said in a deep voice, "Got it."
It had started drizzling outside the car window. I looked at the shadowy lights of the Madden Winery through the curtain of rain and felt my heart turn cold.
