Hearing the name "Diana," I froze for a moment before following Raelynn's pointing finger.
"Wait... isn't this RV from Madden Group?" Raelynn murmured under her breath, studying the license plate.
Meanwhile, the automatic door slid open, and an impeccably dressed woman stepped out first.
At the sight of her, I instantly understood Raelynn's astonishment.
But she wasn't Diana—she was Clarissa.
Raelynn had already sensed something was off. She leaned in and murmured in my ear, "Nat, is that Diana? She looks... different somehow..."
"That's Diana's twin sister—Clarissa," I explained.
I couldn't look away from Clarissa when suddenly, my heart skipped a beat.
My woman's intuition told me that Clarissa showing up here most likely had something to do with Quinn again.
I kept my eyes locked on the car door behind her, suddenly terrified Quinn might appear next.
A moment later, another woman stepped out of the RV.
Raelynn was the first to recognize her. "Ella? What are you doing here?" she called out.
I'd never seen her before. I assumed she must be a new employee at Madden Group.
Ella said, "Raelynn, I'm here with Miss Terell for the audition."
"An audition? But 'Stellar River' is already in production and the cast is set. What kind of audition could they possibly need?" Raelynn frowned.
Ella quickly stepped up and told Raelynn, "Mr. Madden personally approved it."
Raelynn froze at those words, her eyes instinctively scanning Clarissa from head to toe.
Clarissa didn't mind at all. After introducing herself with poise, she turned to me with a gentle smile and said softly, "Mrs. Madden, we meet again."
Clarissa extended her delicate hand toward me.
Out of courtesy, I gently shook her hand, my expression unreadable. "I didn't expect you to be interested in acting, Miss Terell," I said coolly.
"You must have looked into my background, Mrs. Madden. My poor health has kept me homebound for years. Watching movies became my way to pass the time, and I've always dreamed of being in one." Clarissa's smile didn't waver as she added meaningfully, "Thanks to Quinn's kindness, I finally have this opportunity."
I couldn't help but think, 'Quinn really spoils her. Just to fulfill her little movie dream, he even used his authority as chairman to pull some strings for her.'
I sneered, "Since you're well aware of your delicate condition, Miss Terell, do take extra care of yourself during filming. After all, neither Maple Media nor Madden Group would welcome any bad press."
Hearing this, Clarissa's expression darkened for a moment.
But unlike Diana, who would lose her composure, Clarissa simply nodded after a brief pause. Putting on an act of obedience in front of everyone, she said softly, "Don't worry, Mrs. Madden. I won't cause any trouble for you all."
Raelynn was the on-site representative for Madden Group. Since Clarissa had been personally approved by Quinn, Raelynn had no choice but to reluctantly take her to meet the director.
There was still over an hour until the end of the workday.
Bored and with nothing else to do, I grabbed a coffee and went back to watch June's performance.
An hour later, Raelynn found me and exclaimed, "Natalia, Clarissa is really something else!"
Her thunderstruck expression cracked me up. I teased her, "So, how did she win you over?"
"She didn't win me over, but she totally blew the director away!" Raelynn plopped down beside me, her voice thick with disbelief. "Are you sure Clarissa's never studied acting? When we met the director, he just handed her a random script, clearly just going through the motions. But after Clarissa studied it for ten minutes, she delivered a textbook-perfect performance that left him completely stunned!"
Raelynn animatedly recounted the scene to me, her hands flying as she spoke.
"Now the director's keeping her behind for a private chat! The way he's fawning over her, it's like he's about to cast Clarissa as the leading lady in his next film!"
I was genuinely surprised to hear this. After all, I had looked into Clarissa myself.
From the scant information available, Clarissa was born with a congenital heart condition—she never had the chance to go to school and spent most of her life bedridden.
I couldn't believe it—Clarissa, despite a lifetime of illness, had not only cultivated an elegant demeanor but had also mastered the art of acting.
No one would believe this.
I suddenly felt completely drained.
I thought maybe it was precisely because Clarissa was so extraordinary that she held a special place in Quinn's heart.
Raelynn was still chattering away, but I barely registered her words.
Just then, Jess arrived early to pick up Raelynn after work.
Seeing me, Jess greeted me first, then smiled and said, "Ms. Hinton, you can head out early too. I think I saw Quinn just arriving as I came in."
I froze, wondering if Quinn came all the way just to pick me up after work.
Hearing that, Raelynn immediately linked arms with me and teased, "See? I knew there had to be a reason you turned down my hot pot invitation! Turns out you already had a date with Mr. Madden."
Dazed, I let Raelynn pull me out of the set.
Sure enough, Quinn's Bentley was parked by the curb.
Quinn had stepped out of the car, his tall frame leaning casually against the door as he typed on his phone.
"Quinn," Jess called. Quinn looked up from his phone and instantly met my gaze.
I caught a fleeting look of surprise and confusion in Quinn's eyes.
My chest tightened suddenly—that was when it hit me: Quinn wasn't here for me.
Before I knew it, Raelynn and I were already by Quinn's side.
Raelynn gave me a playful nudge and winked. "Go on, Natalia—don't keep Mr. Madden waiting."
Quinn looked at me, parting his lips as if to say something. But before he could get a word out, a melodious voice suddenly rang out from behind us.
"Quinn, sorry to keep you waiting!" Clarissa beamed as she hurried over.
Both Raelynn and Jess froze in shock.
"Mr. Madden, didn't you come to pick up Natalia?" Raelynn blurted out in confusion.
Clarissa stopped in her tracks, glanced at me, then turned to Quinn with a flash of comprehension. In her gentle voice, she said, "Quinn, my audition went wonderfully today—thank you for recommending me. Since you and Mrs. Madden have matters to attend to, I'll take my leave."
"Wait." Quinn stopped Clarissa.
He turned to me, his dark eyes unreadable.
"Natalia, Clarissa and I still have something to discuss..." he said to me.
My heart ached with emptiness, but I forced a smile and cut him off. "Yeah, I've still got some unfinished work to take care of."
As soon as the words left my mouth, I immediately turned on my heel, desperate to escape.
Suddenly, a strong hand clamped down on my shoulder, stopping me from turning around.
"No matter how busy you are, you still have to eat. Since Quinn isn't around, I guess I'll just have to reluctantly step in and take care of you. "At some point, York appeared out of nowhere behind me, his tall frame casting a shadow as he fixed Quinn with a cold, challenging stare. With a teasing smile, he added, "Come on, my treat tonight."
With that, York took my wrist and guided me into his car.
