"Does it matter?" Clarissa curled her lips into a smile, then looked around the room. With a sigh, she continued, "I've lived in this winery on and off for years. The bedroom decor is still the same as it was before I went overseas."
I frowned and asked, "What do you mean?"
This winery belonged to the Madden Group. To my knowledge, the Maddens used it for a summer retreat. However, in all these years of marriage to Quinn, we had never once moved into this place.
Clarissa laughed even more arrogantly as she pointed at the furniture in the room, listing them one by one, "Quinn took the picture on the wall for me. He made the nightstand according to the design I drew at the factory himself....
"Even the carpet you're standing on right now, Quinn and I custom-made it."
It felt like a bolt of lightning struck me. I instinctively looked down and saw the corner of the carpet embroidered with two letters in gold thread: Q & C—the initials of Quinn and Clarissa.
Clarissa was clearly pleased to see the shock on my face. Her mouth kept moving as she continued recounting her past with Quinn to me.
"Looks like you didn't know, huh? Quinn bought this winery right after he brought me to Enschester for treatment," she said.
My heart clenched in pain. Only now did I realize this winery was actually Quinn's secret love nest.
I struggled to contain the surging emotions and sneered, "So, are you trying to tell me that you and Quinn are in love with each other?"
I really could not understand Clarissa. On the surface, she was here to avenge Diana. But in reality, everything she did proved that she loved Quinn. However, due to her health condition and Diana, she had to bury those feelings deep inside.
As she finished speaking, her eyes darkened for a moment. Then she looked away, let out a cold snort, and said, "All you need to know is Quinn loves me. He's someone who holds on to the past, and if I want to have him, it's really not that hard."
I pressed further, "Do you love Quinn?"
Clarissa looked at me coldly and said noncommittally, "Diana loves him, and only she is worthy of being by Quinn's side.
"You guessed it right—my purpose of returning this time is to help Diana take back everything she lost."
I could not help but burst into laughter hearing her words. These two sisters were really messed up in their heads.
Clarissa actually wanted to exploit Quinn's sentimentality to manipulate him into getting back together with Diana.
Clarissa frowned and asked, "What's so funny?"
"I used to think you were smart—until this moment, when I realized just how unbelievably foolish you are," I said.
I looked at her with a hint of pity, narrowed my eyes, and said in a low voice, "Clarissa, maybe Quinn did truly care for you once. But I should thank your foolishness for making you lose him and letting him wait long enough for me.
Clarissa's frown deepened as she grew visibly impatient with my words. She opened her mouth as if wanting to say further, but I cut her off.
"Did Quinn tell you that in two months, after your mother's release from prison, he'll send you both to Nordia for good?" I asked.
Quinn promised me he would never see them again. At that thought, I felt a deep sense of relief.
Clarissa suddenly said, "Natalia, wanna bet? Let's see if you can really get what you want."
I was stunned, and before I could react, Clarissa suddenly grabbed a fruit knife from the nightstand.
