The sudden brightness stung my eyes, forcing them shut instinctively. When I finally blinked them open again, my jaw dropped in shock. "What is this?" I gasped as my eyes fell upon a moderate-sized hot spring pool right at our feet.
Quinn stood bare-chested, a white towel wrapped around his waist. His sculpted V-cut abs were on full display. I couldn't help stealing a few more glances, instinctively gulping as my cheeks burned.
"So turning on the lights was just to check me out?" Quinn teased with a playful grin. I shot him a glare, my face burning crimson all the way to the tips of my ears. Flustered and embarrassed, I retorted, "Like there's anything worth looking at!"
Quinn snorted and pulled my hand to his towel, his tone teasing. "Haven't you already seen all my best parts?" And in the next instant, Quinn let his towel slide to the floor.
Quinn gave me no time to react. In seconds, his hands had me completely undressed. Then he scooped me up and carried me into the hot spring pool.
The soothing warmth of the water wrapped around me completely, and in that instant, a wave of deep relaxation washed over me, unlike anything I'd ever experienced before.
"This hot spring pool feels completely different from any I've been in before!" I couldn't help exclaiming. Back then, in winter, I'd occasionally go to hot springs. Honestly, all I remember was breaking a sweat. There was nothing remarkable about it.
But this hot spring was completely transformative. From the perfect temperature to the silky texture of the water. At the same time, a faint herbal fragrance reached my nose.
Suddenly, it dawned on me and I blurted out, "Did you add herbal medicine to the water?"
Quinn nodded with a gentle smile, confirming my guess. "This is a traditional herbal bath that I asked George to specially prepare for you, tailored to your constitution. How are you feeling now?"
I closed my eyes for a moment, letting myself really feel it, then replied, "It's so soothing—like all my worries could just melt away."
"I have to hand it to George. His medical expertise is truly something else," I thought.
"That's good. I'll bring you here for a soak every month from now on. I'm sure you'll recover soon," Quinn murmured tenderly, wrapping his arms around me in the warm water.
Nestled in Quinn's arms, I felt his fingers gently kneading the back of my neck, working out the tension with a soothing massage.
"At this moment, I felt both incredibly happy and deeply moved," I thought. So all this time, Quinn had gone to such lengths just to nurse me back to health.
I looked up at Quinn, my voice barely above a whisper. "Thank you."
Hearing Quinn's breathing grow heavier right by my ear, I froze for a moment. Suddenly, he grabbed my hand and pressed it against himself.
"Quinn..." I murmured breathlessly.
"George Johnson said these are all tonic herbs," Quinn murmured in his deep voice. "But I seem to be in perfect health... don't really need any of that myself."
The heat in Quinn's eyes intensified. I knew exactly where this was heading.
"H-here? Right now?"
Quinn grinned and whispered, "I don't think we've ever tried it in the hot spring pool before, have we?"
No sooner had he spoken than Quinn captured my lips with a passionate kiss. Three hours later, completely spent, I was swept up in Quinn's arms and carried back to the bedroom.
I murmured drowsily, "Aren't we going home tonight? Does this estate belong to you?"
The Madden Group owned so many properties, I honestly couldn't keep track of them all.
"I just bought this place for you," Quinn told me.
I froze for a moment, inexplicably reminded of Clarissa's wine estate and that carpet embroidered with both their names.
"You bought this...for me?" I echoed, stunned.
Quinn tucked me in, pulled me close, and closed his eyes. "Yes. From now on, you're the owner of the house. Decorate it as you please. If you're tired, go to sleep. Good night."
That night, I slept like a baby in Quinn's arms. The next morning, I awoke to find thick snowflakes falling outside, blanketing everything in white.
