When I woke up, Quinn was no longer beside me, so I assumed he had already left for work.
But after getting dressed and heading downstairs, I found him—wearing an apron and fussing around in the kitchen.
Quinn set breakfast down with a proud grin. "I just learned how to make milk custard—give it a try!"
Like a child eager for praise, he scooped up a spoonful and held it to my lips.
I blinked in surprise but took the bite. Smooth, silky, and perfectly sweet—it melted in my mouth.
"How does it taste?" Quinn asked, eyes full of anticipation.
I gave him a thumbs-up and grinned. "You could totally open a dessert shop with this."
Then I took the spoon from his hand, scooped up another bite, and held it out to him. "If you don't believe me, you can try it for yourself."
Just like that—one spoon for me, one for him—we finished the milk custard in no time.
"Don't you have work today?" I asked, watching the snow swirl gently outside the window.
I felt at peace, though a little unsettled too.
Quinn had been unusually thoughtful since last night—sharing a medicinal bath with me, then gifting me an entire estate.
I knew very well he was doing all of this just to make me happy.
Quinn followed my gaze out the window and said gently, "It's snowing hard. I figured I'd stay and be with you."
I smiled softly, paused for a moment, then looked at him and said, "Quinn, I'm not mad anymore. You don't need to be sorry either. Whatever the future holds, we'll face it together. As long as we're at peace with ourselves, that's enough."
At my words, a subtle shift crossed Quinn's expression. Without saying a word, he took my hand in his and gently drew me into his embrace.
Snow fell relentlessly, blanketing the world outside for a full day and night.
Before I knew it, Tuesday had arrived—the day of Lindsey's fashion show.
The night prior, Lindsey had sent me a message on WhatsApp, stressing how important it was that I attend.
With Madden Group as the title sponsor, the fashion show turned out to be on a much grander scale than I had expected.
With her makeup flawlessly done and a warm smile on her face, Lindsey stood at the entrance of the Metropolitan Art Museum, greeting guests.
"Natalia!" Lindsey called out when she spotted me, waving cheerfully before coming over with a bright smile and linking arms with me playfully. "Wow, you're early for my fashion show! Just like a true cousin-in-law."
I laughed softly at her words. "You're stunning today—after the show, everyone in the city will know the Madden family's daughter is a beautiful fashion designer."
Lindsey grinned and replied, "Nah, you're the real beauty here. Standing next to you, I feel plain!" They shared playful compliments before Lindsey scanned the room and asked, "Where's Quinn?"
"He has a video meeting today that just happened to clash with your fashion show," I explained.
Lindsey did not seem disappointed. She simply smiled and nodded.
As more and more guests poured into the venue, I did not want to hold Lindsey up, so I told her to go attend to the guests.
I had just sat down in a corner when a voice called my name, "Natalia."
I recognized that voice right away. Turning around, I saw June, all dolled up and smiling sweetly.
June was still beautiful, no doubt—but the tired look in her eyes did not go unnoticed.
It had been a long time since our last meeting, and an awkward silence settled between us.
After a brief pause, I managed a faint smile and murmured, "Ms. Vance, it's been a while."
