Lindsey shot the clerk a knowing look. The clerk immediately took the gown from Shirley and began to wrap it up carefully.
"Mrs. Smith, I'd like you to have this dress," Lindsey said graciously.
Shirley's face was full of shock. "I couldn't possibly accept this. I love it, but it's just far too valuable!"
"Just put it on my brother's tab," Lindsey said playfully, "If you have some free time later, I'd love to take a few model shots of you and send them to my mentor."
"Thank you, Lindsey." At this point, Shirley could only accept graciously.
On the drive home, Shirley was in high spirits, gushing to Quinn about how wonderful Lindsey was.
After what happened today, I found myself liking Lindsey a whole lot more.
The next day, the acquisition meeting of Maple Media was officially convened.
After the three-hour meeting concluded, Shawn signed the acquisition agreement and officially appointed me as the new CEO of Maple Media right then and there.
That evening, Shawn and Faye flew back to Sea City.
York and I personally saw them off at the airport. As we waved goodbye, I finally let out a long sigh of relief.
York narrowed his eyes as he gazed ahead. "Ms. Hinton, why are you already relaxing? The show is just getting started."
I was taken aback. Even though this was my first time as CEO, just by observing York and Quinn, I could tell the CEO's job was no joke. It definitely wasn't something just anyone could handle.
I felt that I was in for some crazy and busy days ahead.
"So, Mr. Smith, are you not planning to help me out anymore?" I looked at him while raising an eyebrow playfully. "Don't forget, you're still Maple Media's VP! As your CEO, I hereby order you to work for me around the clock starting tomorrow!"
York turned to me with a profound gaze. "Still a few hours till tomorrow. I think I'll take a little break."
I paused, suddenly realizing how hard he'd been working.
Ever since Ben Smith was imprisoned, York had devoted himself entirely to managing both Maple Media and the Smith family affairs.
There might be even more headaches in all this than I ever imagined.
I smiled softly and said, "Sure! How about I let you take a few more days off? Spring's almost here. It's perfect time for a trip..."
"I just need a few hours." York cut me off, his eyes never leaving mine. He spoke softly. "Natalia, would you spend the next few hours with me?"
"Sure!" As our eyes met, a flutter ran through my heart, as if something tender inside me had just been touched. Without a second thought, I agreed with a smile. "What would you like to do now?"
He narrowed his long, peach blossom eyes, a faint smile playing on his lips. In that deep, velvety voice, he murmured, "Your call."
It seemed his mind had been working overtime, so he just wanted to zone out for a while.
"I get it," I said after a thoughtful pause. Suddenly, inspiration struck me and I lit up. "I've got the perfect way to unwind!"
York didn't ask any questions and simply got in the car with me.
The city was draped in night as I drove through the streets, the darkness pressing in beyond my window.
An hour later, we passed the city limits and entered the winding country roads.
I slowed the car as we navigated a rough, muddy path before eventually coming to a stop in front of a sprawling compound.
I turned to York and said, "We're here."
York glanced out the window, momentarily surprised. "Where are we?"
"A place where you can find peace without saying a word!" I teased, keeping him in suspense as I took his hand and led him out of the car.
