The more I thought about it, the sadder I felt. I shed tears.
"Benedict won't blame you because he will grow up safe and happy under your protection and care," said Aiden as he handed me a napkin.
I wiped my tears with the napkin and punched him lightly. I said, "Didn't I tell you to keep Rose company? She is shy. Why can't you take the initiative to confess to her?"
"Natalia, Rose and I are just friends," Aiden told me with a frown.
"What?" My eyes widened. "But you just confessed that there's someone you like. Who is it if it's not Rose?"
I was shocked. I had never seen Aiden date anyone before. Was the person he liked one of his colleagues from the hospital?
He frowned and stared at me. His expression was a little stiff. In the end, he said, "You just need to know that it's not Rose. Don't worry. I'll make things clear to her. She's a nice lady. She shouldn't waste her time on me."
The sudden turn of events sobered me completely.
Aiden's confession took me by surprise. What about Rose?
On the one hand, I was worried that Rose would be sad when she found out about this. On the other hand, I was in no position to persuade Aiden to try dating Rose.
I myself was a failure when it came to love.
After some thought, I advised Aiden, "Don't tell Rose about this abruptly. I'm afraid you'll hurt her. You should wait for the right timing."
Aiden nodded in agreement.
We returned to the roof. Perhaps Rose was bored while she was alone. She downed a bottle of beer while we were away.
"Rose! Since when have you gotten so good at drinking?" I was shocked. This was the first time I had seen her drinking so boldly.
After finishing a bottle, she threw the empty bottle aside, smiled at me and Aiden, and slumped to the ground drunk.
Aiden and I helped her back to the bedroom.
It was getting late, and we were all drunk and unfit to drive.
I spent the night in the care home.
The next day, I was woken up by a phone call. With my eyes closed, I grabbed my phone and answered, "Hello?"
"Why aren't you home?" Quinn's deep voice sounded from the other end of the line. I was instantly wide awake.
I should have checked the caller before I picked up the call. If I knew that the call was from Quinn, I wouldn't have answered it.
"Where are you?" he pressed when I didn't answer his first question. He said sternly, "I'll give you half an hour to come home. I have something to tell you."
There he went again with his iconic command. He seemed to believe that I would never reject or refuse him.
"I have nothing to say to you." I was consumed by anger as I hung up on him.
Quinn called me back immediately. I simply blocked his number.
I collected my thoughts, washed up, and prepared to go to work.
Rose was still asleep. I didn't want to disturb her. After saying goodbye to Aiden, I drove to the Madden Group.
"They are going too far!" Raelynn came to my office angrily.
I asked her, "What happened to you?"
Raelynn frowned and explained, "The people from the administrative department are just a bunch of gossipy bitches. When I went to the pantry, I heard them gossiping about you. They said some really nasty stuff about you. I ended up quarreling with them."
"What did they say about me?" I asked her with a smile.
Raelynn was stunned. She asked, "Ms. Hinton, why do you want to know? Their words will affect your mood."
I asked her to tell me everything. Left with no choice, Raelynn recalled, "They said that you seduced Mr. Madden. Mr. Madden and Diana are the true match made in heaven."
