I was amused. "That's it?"
I took a pen and wrote something on a note. I waved my hand and gestured for Raelynn to come closer. Then, I instructed her in a low voice, "Help me order something and send it to the administrative department."
Raelynn looked at the note and her eyes lit up. She said, "Alright. I'll get someone to send it over now."
In the afternoon, Raelynn came to report the latest gossip to me excitedly.
Raelynn said, "Ms. Hinton, what you did was definitely funny. I followed your instructions and ordered some throat lozenges and coasters with dog faces for the ladies in the administrative department. They were so confused when they received the items.
"The director of the administrative department demanded that I explain myself. I told them that those were gifts from you. The coasters will be great to protect their work desks in case they spill the tea. They can use the throat lozenges to soothe their throats after a long day of speaking.
"I also reminded them that you will still be working in the Madden Group for the next three years. During this period, if they feel burdened by their current workload, you are more than happy to relocate them to different positions."
Raelynn was engrossed in recapping every single detail.
I chuckled and asked, "What happened after that? Did the director of the administrative department say anything else?"
Raelynn said with a smirk, "Of course not! She quickly thanked you for the gifts and emphasized that she is very happy with her current position. Then, she ran away with a pale face."
I was very satisfied with this outcome.
Firstly, I didn't want Raelynn to be bullied for protecting me. Secondly, I still had to work in the Madden Group for the next three years. I was the COO regardless of my marital status. I had to let the employees know that not just anyone could bully me.
After dealing with a batch of documents, I stretched and planned to get up and move around. I went to the pantry to make coffee.
I ran into Finn.
He called out to me, "Ms. Hinton."
"Can I help you?" I asked. He wore a grave expression.
"Miss Terell attempted suicide. Did you know?" he asked me after looking around to make sure no one else was listening.
I was shocked and asked without thinking, "When did this happen?"
Finn said, "The night before the press conference, Mr. Madden wanted to meet you. Miss Terell was supposed to take an overnight flight to Nordia, but she slit her wrist in the washroom at the airport. When she was discovered, she was unconscious and was rushed to the hospital. She was in the emergency ward for the entire night."
In order not to leave Quinn, Diana did everything she could.
She was even willing to bet her life on it.
If she won the bet, she could stay by his side. If she lost, Quinn would remember her for the rest of his life.
Diana was madly in love with Quinn. I admitted defeat when it came to doing crazy things in the name of love.
I stared at Finn expressionlessly and said coldly, "Why are you telling me this? Quinn and I are already divorced. If Diana told you to come look for me, please tell her that I'm no longer interested in Quinn."
I didn't understand Finn's intention of telling me this. Did Diana bribe him to provoke me?
"Ms. Hinton, you've misunderstood," Finn said softly. "I meant to let you know that Mr. Madden had been accompanying Miss Terell in the hospital after she woke up to calm her down. He only found out about the press conference announcing your divorce through the news."
My heart skipped a beat. I felt as if there was a huge rock pressing down on my chest, suffocating me.
So, Quinn was not behind the press conference? In that case, Alex was the person who orchestrated it.
