Did Quinn come to my apartment this morning to explain this to me in person?
I pursed my lips and said calmly, "What is done is done. We can't turn back time and undo the damage."
"Ms. Hinton..." Finn looked at me and hesitated. Finally, he glanced at the coffee machine and said, "Your coffee is ready."
"Thank you." I smiled and left with my coffee.
Quinn didn't come to the office for the next few days. I guessed that he had been keeping Diana company in the hospital.
I didn't have time to think about him. I focused on my work. I had to earn more if I wanted to give Benedict a better life.
On Friday, the person in charge of the Dazzling Project arrived at Enschester.
I went through a lot of trouble to secure a dinner appointment with him.
When I entered the private room of the restaurant, I saw Quinn.
I was stunned. A refined-looking man wearing gold-rimmed glasses stood up with a smile and greeted me, "You're Ms. Hinton, right? When you called me, you should have told me that you're Quinn's wife."
The man was Jess Bird, the person in charge of the Dazzling Project.
Unfortunately, his casual way of speaking was somewhat inconsistent with his refined appearance.
I collected my thoughts and walked into the private room. I smiled and shook Jess's hand. "Mr. Bird, nice to meet you. Also, allow me to correct you. Mr. Madden and I are divorced."
The Dazzle Group was a foreign company and was new to the local market. Jess had been overseas all these years and probably did not know the latest update about me and Quinn. I figured I had to address the misunderstanding as soon as possible.
Jess was very surprised when he heard this. He turned to look at Quinn and said, "Fuck! Bro, you're mean. You didn't inform me both when you got married and when you are divorced. I thought we were very close friends!"
After he said that to Quinn, he turned around and explained to me with a smile, "Sis, we're university roommates."
I was speechless.
Who gave him permission to call me Sis?
Now I knew why Quinn was so confident about the Dazzling Project. It turned out that he was very close with the person in charge of the project.
When he handed this project to me, I had spent six months researching it devotedly.
Quinn's face was gloomy. He narrowed his eyes and stared at Jess. He said, "When you get a divorce, I'll host a party for you."
"I'm not even married yet and you're already planning for my divorce? Quinny, you're so mean!" Jess punched Quinn's shoulder playfully.
Quinn glanced at him coldly. Jess immediately stopped playing around and faked coughing to regain his composure.
"Since the two of you are having a reunion, I'll take my leave first. Mr. Bird, we'll talk about the project at the next meeting," I said politely and planned to leave the room.
"Sit down," Quinn suddenly said.
I stopped in my tracks and instinctively looked at him.
His eyes narrowed, and he was emotionless. He said condescendingly, "Natalia, you now represent the Madden Group."
He was right. I sat down obediently.
Jess was undoubtedly a social butterfly. He could come up with various topics to talk about even in this very awkward situation.
I came here for a business meeting, but this was actually just a classmate gathering between Jess and Quinn. I sat at the side and did not say a word as I listened to Jess recall their university days.
He even made a toast to Quinn whenever he recalled something interesting.
Although Quinn didn't say much, he clinked glasses with Jess without hesitation. They drank one glass after another and emptied a few bottles of exquisite red wine in the blink of an eye.
In the end, Quinn was so drunk that he collapsed on the table.
Jess stood up wobbling and said to me with a drunken smile, "Quinn always gets drunk very easily when he has something on his mind. Sis, please send him home. I'm going back to my room now."
