Elijah was silent for a moment before he stammered, "Natalia, cutting ties with the Hinton family is a big deal. You know that I can't make the decision alone. How about this? When Jenna wakes up, I'll discuss this with her. I'll try my best to persuade her to agree."
"Thank you," I said grimly.
For the sake of Benedict, I had to formally sever ties with the Hinton family as soon as possible.
Two days later, the team in charge of the Dazzling Project held a press conference at Enschester and publicly announced the time of the bidding.
Many people were at the press conference. I was there representing the Madden Group, and I brought Raelynn along with me.
"Ms. Hinton. The Dazzle Group is really rich. They actually bought an office building even though they just started in Enschester." Raelynn sighed and lamented, "A square foot of land under our feet is worth my annual salary."
I smiled and said, "When we win the bidding, your salary will double this year."
If I successfully got this project, I would save the commission I gained as a trust fund for Benedict.
Just thinking about that invigorated me.
After the press conference ended, Jess specially came to greet me. He said, "Sis, there is a dinner gathering later. Will you be attending?"
Just as I was about to turn down his invitation, Jess lowered his voice and revealed to me, "A senior executive from the Dazzle Group headquarters will also be there."
I realized that Jess was opening the back door for the Madden Group.
At six in the evening, Raelynn and I arrived at the hotel's private dining room on time.
The waiter pushed the door open for us. There were three people sitting in the room. I spotted York.
Why was he here as well?
He was wearing a business suit, which was rare for him. His fine black hair had been combed, making him look handsome and energetic. He was sitting beside a blonde foreign man and communicating with him fluently in Lugdish.
This foreign man was probably John Powell, the senior executive from the Dazzle Group headquarters that Jess had mentioned.
I didn't know Lugdish, so I couldn't understand what they were saying.
Fortunately, Raelynn, who was beside me, used to major in Lugdish.
She stepped forward with a smile, greeted John in Lugdish, and introduced herself.
John cut off his conversation with York. Jess, who was sitting on the other side of him, leaned over and whispered something into his ear. John smiled at us and greeted me in Ombrish, "Nice to meet you." His gaze landed on Raelynn and he said a few words of Lugdish to her.
"Ms. Hinton, Mr. Powell asked me to sit beside him. He wants to know more about our group," Raelynn lowered her voice and told me happily.
Jess made room at the table for Raelynn. At the same time, he gestured for me to take his seat. "Ms. Hinton, please sit here."
I broke out in a cold sweat when he called me. I was afraid that he would call me "Sis" in front of everyone.
John and Raelynn were deep in conversation, and John warmly invited her to clink glasses.
"I never expected York to be able to contact John directly. There is more to York than meets the eye." Jess lowered his voice and asked me, "By the way, why isn't Quinn here?"
"I am not sure about Mr. Madden's itinerary. If you can't reach him, you can call his assistant, Finn," I said matter-of-factly.
Jess looked at me and smiled. He commented, "Actually, your personalities are quite similar."
I was stunned, not understanding what Jess meant.
I felt a burning gaze fixed on me.
I turned around and saw York standing up. He gave me a meaningful stare and said politely, "Please excuse me."
