I was left speechless after my mom's outburst. I had a feeling something fishy was going on, and I planned to find out what it was. Normally, I wouldn't care but I've been involved in whatever mess my mom's created.
"Whatever it is you’ve gotten yourself into, fix it," I said coldly. "But leave me out of it. I will never marry this man. I'd rather die than be stuck with him."
Having said that, I stormed out of the office, my heart pounding in my chest. I didn't stop walking until I was outside the building. My mom can't possibly allow me to marry this old man, right? This is all your fault, Raven. I'll make sure you'll be the one who'll marry Mr Clinton.
Later at night, I called my bestie Claudia to meet up at a club. I arrived at the club and there was no sign of Claudia anywhere. Soon I got a call from her, and she started telling me something about her boyfriend, so she had to cancel.
I barely listened before hanging up, my anger slowly rising. Sometimes I wonder how I ended up having unreliable bitches as friends. How can I be so popular and, at the same time, feel so lonely?
I got into the dimly lit club and went straight to the bar, ordered a drink with a scowl on my face. As I sat there, slowly sipping my drink, my thoughts drifted to Raven. Even after I was told that she and Mason’s marriage was just an arrangement, I couldn't help but feel jealous. What if Mason falls for her charms? What if he already agreed to his father's ultimatum? No, I can't even imagine Raven getting pregnant with Mason's child, I would never allow that.
She can't get things so easily all the time. Ever since we were kids, she's been the unseen child, the one our mother ignored and focused on grooming me to be the perfect daughter. But the truth is I used to envy Raven’s life, heck I still do. She's free from all those suffocating expectations my mom placed on me. Soon, my jealousy towards Raven turned to spite, and I made it my mission to ruin her happiness whenever I could.
Every time Raven had a boyfriend or liked someone, I would seduce them, just so I could witness the pain in her eyes when they broke up. I never actually liked any of her boyfriends, I only hated the fact that she got things I couldn't so easily. All guys ever wanted was to sleep with me and leave; everyone wanted a taste of Blair Prescott.
And when I was finally looking forward to having someone to call mine, Raven snatched him from me. My hands tightened around my glass in anger as I imagined squeezing the life out of Raven. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make sure Mason becomes mine.
I downed my drink, the alcohol burning my throat as I drowned in my thoughts. I felt someone slide onto the stool next to me, ordering me another drink. I glanced over at the intruder, my eyes narrowed, but when I saw his face, my gaze softened. He was handsome, with dark hair and lovely brown eyes.
"Rough night?" He asked, his voice smooth and inviting.
I smirked, pushing my glass towards him. "You could say that."
He chuckled, handing me the drink. "I'm Justin," he said, holding out his hand.
"Blair," I replied, taking his hand in mine. His grip was firm and confident, and for a moment, I thought I saw him smirk. Must be the alcohol.
We talked for a while, our conversation was light and flirtatious. I felt the tension in my body easing slightly as the alcohol began to take effect. I wasn't sure if it was the drinks or the distraction Justin provided, but I didn't feel lonely anymore.
After a few more drinks, I turned to Justin, a seductive smile on my lips. "So, Justin," I purred, leaning in closer, "are you up for a one-night stand? No strings attached."
He raised an eyebrow, his smile widening. "I thought you'd never ask."
I smirked, feeling a rush of excitement. I always get what I want, and soon I'd get Mason as well.
"Then let’s get out of here," I said, sliding off the stool and grabbing my purse. All that mattered to me right now was that for a few hours, I could forget about my mom, about Mason, and about that bitch Raven.
