The next morning, I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I groaned, wondering who was calling me so early in the morning. I tried to move, but something held me back. I looked down to find Mason's arm wrapped around my waist, holding me close as he slept.
I blushed as the events of last night rushed back to me. Before I could get lost in the memory, my phone rang again, dragging me back to reality. I reached for it, carefully trying not to wake Mason. When I saw Julie's name on the screen, I quickly answered.
"Hi Julie," I whispered, trying to keep my voice down.
"Raven, where have you been? I've been calling you and Mason all night!" Julie sounded frustrated.
"I... I went to bed early," I lied. I can't possibly tell her I was up all night getting railed by her brother, can I? "So, what's up?"
"It's Blair," Julie said, her voice low. "She was rushed to the hospital last night. You need to get here, your mom's making a scene. And bring Mason."
My heart sank. Blair? I may not like her, but the thought of something happening to her made my stomach turn. "What happened? Is she okay?"
"I don't know," Julie replied quickly. "Just get here."
Before I could ask more questions, the line went dead. Blair’s in the hospital. I thought she was at Margaret's party yesterday.
"I'll go get dressed." Mason's voice startled me, and I turned to see him already awake.
I nodded numbly, unable to shake the growing fear that something terrible happened to Blair. I prayed silently, hoping that she wasn't dead.
When we arrived at the hospital, we were greeted by chaos. My mom marched towards Mason, her face twisted in rage.
"This is all your fault!" She screamed, grabbing Mason's arm. "How could you treat a lady in such a manner?"
"Get your filthy hands off me, before I break them," Mason replied calmly, but the fury in his voice was unmistakable.
I stood there, frozen, trying to understand what was happening. Why was mom blaming Mason? What does he have to do with Blair being in the hospital?
"Mason." Charles’s voice cut through the commotion, and I turned to see his dad sitting in the corner, his face stern. "What happened at Margaret's party? Why is Blair in the hospital, and why does Lenora insist you are responsible?"
Mason's jaw clenched, and for a moment, the room fell silent as everyone waited for his answer.
"I didn't push her on purpose, and I didn't realize I pushed her hard." He finally said. "Someone spiked my drink at the party. I wasn't thinking straight. Margaret found me and told me to go rest upstairs. When I did, Blair was there... in my room, without any clothes. She tried to seduce me, but I resisted. When she wouldn't back off, I pushed her. I didn't mean to cause any damage; I just wanted to get out of there."
My heart pounded as I listened to Mason's explanation. So that's why he acted strange last night. That snake, Blair. I knew my mom was the mastermind behind this; Blair couldn’t have come up with such a plan by herself.
"Lies!" My mom screeched. "You're making up excuses to cover up the fact that you tried to rape my daughter!"
"Enough!" I shouted, stepping forward. "Why are you so sure Mason tried to rape her?"
"Margaret found her unconscious in Mason’s room, and she wasn't putting on any clothes." My mom said confidently.
"And did she tell you he tried to rape her?" I asked further.
"She has been unconscious the whole time we got here," Julie said. "You probably don't know this, but my brother has a camera in his room. So it's pointless to cook up lies. The first thing I did was to check for evidence cause I know how dramatic your daughter can be. If you'd like, I can share Blair’s nude video with everyone here." Julie smirked.
"Don't you dare," my mom glared at Julie. "Whatever happened was between the both of them."
"You seem to be forgetting that Mason is a married man, mom. This now involves me, his wife." I said, trying to let her know that I wasn't going to let this slide. "Blair deserves far worse than a push, and if she wasn’t already injured, I would have caused even more damage."
"You insolent child, how dare you speak to me in that manner?" My mom raised her hand to slap me but Mason held her hand.
"You don't want to keep using these hands, do you?" He spoke calmly.
I turned to Margaret, who had been oddly quiet throughout the entire confrontation. I narrowed my eyes at her, deep down I knew she had a hand in this as well but I chose to stay quiet cause of Julie.
Without another word, I walked towards Blair’s ward, my heart racing as I prepared to confront her. Julie and Mason followed me, along with my mom, who was still seething with anger.
When I entered Blair’s room, I saw her lying in bed, her head wrapped in bandages. She looked weak, but I wouldn't let that fool me. Her eyes opened slowly, but as soon as our eyes met, I saw the fury in her gaze.
"I heard you tried to seduce my husband," I said, my voice dripping with contempt. "Now look where that got you."
Blair clenched her fists, her face red with anger, but she didn't speak.
"You know what the best part is?" I continued, moving closer to her before whispering. "He came home to me last night. And we had the best sex ever." I smirked, watching as Blair’s expression twisted with jealousy. "Beat that, Blair."
"I hate you," she yelled, groaning in pain. "I promise, you'll pay for this, the both of you."
I turned to leave the room, feeling a sense of satisfaction. This time I wasn't going to back down. Not anymore.
