Mason sat in his car, his fingers trembling as they hovered over his phone. He had just gotten an anonymous message and it contained a voice recording. Candice had been lying to him from the start. She had never been pregnant. The recording contained the cold truth in the form of Candice’s voice. She was laughing, talking to Blair about how easy it was to convince him of her pregnancy. How she had fabricated the miscarriage to keep him attached to her and guilt trip him.
He had started to get excited about having a baby, he had given up everything to take care of his child, even willing to take Candice back to give the baby a complete family. He had tried to do the right thing, and it had cost him everything.
Raven had left because he had refused to give Candice up when her pregnancy had come to light and it had all been a lie!
He remembered how sad he had been when Candice miscarried. He was still mourning for a child that never existed, knowing that didn’t help the pain of losing the baby he had started to love. He hadn’t been able to think straight and couldn’t sleep. Julie had been right when she said he hadn’t been coping with the loss.
If only he had seen through the deceit earlier. He should have known better than to believe a word she said.
Mason played the recording over and over again, finding it hard to believe how Candice had managed to play him for a fool, how cruel she sounded. How was he going to fix this mess?
He just realized he had made a mistake by signing those divorce papers.
Meanwhile, Justin burst through the door of his apartment. He rushed home when one of his maids called him, informing him that she had come home from grocery shopping and met Mia on the stairs bleeding.
She was injured.
Mia was sitting on the couch, her face bruised and tear-streaked, the maid was tending to her wounds. She flinched at the sound of the door slamming, she looked terrified.
"Mia," Justin said, rushing to her side and dropping to his knees. "What happened to you? What happened to her?" he asked the maid.
"I don’t know, Sir. She hasn't said anything since I got back. I kept asking her but she was just crying," the maid explained.
"It's okay, Mia, I'm right here, no one's going to hurt you,” Justin promised, stroking the back of her hand gently, offering her what comfort he could. “Just tell me who did this to you."
Mia’s lip trembled, and she shook her head as fresh tears fell. "It was Blair... and Candice," she choked out between sobs. "I saw them at the restaurant... and... they hit me. Blair kept yelling and telling everyone that I was trying to steal from her. I can’t do this; I don't want to stay here anymore; please let me just go. I don't want any trouble."
Justin’s face darkened, his eyes burning with fury as he knelt beside her.
"Steal me from her?" he repeated, skeptical. "I don't remember announcing that I belonged to anyone. She has no right to lay a finger on you."
“Justin-”
“I’m going to go and tell her-” Justin stood up furiously, ready to go to Blair.
"No please, don't go. Don't leave me." Mia sobbed harder, and Justin pulled her into his arms, holding her as if trying to shield her from all the harm in the world.
"I won't let anyone hurt you," he whispered fiercely. "Not Blair, not anyone."
Just as the words left his mouth, the door creaked open behind them. Justin turned to see Blair standing in the doorway. She was shocked to see the position they were in.
"Justin, I... what is she doing---"
He cut her off before she could finish.
"What the hell are you doing here?" he demanded, his voice low and threatening. "You have some nerve, walking in here like you own the place."
"I... I came to talk to you," Blair stuttered, her gaze darting between Justin and Mia. "I didn't know she was here. What happened to her?"
"Don't you dare pretend you don’t know," Justin snapped. "Who gave you the right to hit her? Didn't I make it clear the last time that I never want you anywhere around my house?"
Blair took a step back, confusion clouding her features.
"I didn't do anything---"
"Enough!" Justin roared. Mia flinched and winced in pain. He rushed over to her, scooping her up in his arms, carrying her as if she weighed nothing. "Get out of here, Blair. Leave before I lose my temper. I never want to see your face again."
Blair’s lips quivered as she watched Justin cradle Mia protectively. "But... what about us? I thought we---"
"Go! Before I have you thrown out." Justin shouted, his patience gone. "Mia is my girlfriend now, and if you ever lay a hand on her again, you’ll regret it."
With that, he turned his back on Blair and carried Mia upstairs, leaving Blair standing there, looking hopeless, her fists clenched at her sides. As Mia was whisked away, she looked over Justin’s shoulder and smirked at Blair, her expression triumphant. The sight made Blair’s blood boil. She couldn’t believe she had just lost Justin to Mia, a woman she considered beneath her.
"I'll make sure you both regret this! You're gonna regret choosing that bitch over me, Justin! You're mine, you hear that?" Blair stormed out of the apartment, slamming the door behind her with as much strength as she could. Only one thought was ringing in her head.
If she couldn’t have Justin, then no one could. Especially not Mia.
Back in Australia, Raven was pacing her office, still trying to figure out how to call Mason. She only had ten hours left to tell Mason about her pregnancy, before Damon would reveal the truth to him. She wasn’t ready.
The door to her office swung open, and Brian entered with Sia by his side.
"Raven!" Sia yelled, rushing to embrace her. "We've got plenty of work to do. We need to discuss my dad's upcoming show,"
"What's wrong?" Brian asked, noticing how stressed out she looked.
Raven handed her phone over to Brian, her breath quickened, and before she could stop herself, the words spilled out.
"I can't do it, Brian. I don’t know how to tell him. Maybe Damon should call him."
"Tell who? What’s going on?" Sia asked, stepping closer.
Raven’s chest tightened as panic gripped her. Tears welled in her eyes, and she collapsed into a chair. "I wasn't prepared for any of this... I'm pregnant and I don't know how to tell my baby’s father about it because we're not together anymore. I shouldn't have gotten a divorce so quickly."
Sia hurried to her side, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Hey, hey, breathe. Just breathe, it's going to be okay."
Raven shook her head, her tears falling freely. "No, it’s not. He's still living with Candice, I don’t want her in my child's life."
Sia knelt in front of her. "Raven, from what you've just said, Mason is the father of the baby in your womb and he deserves to know. And he deserves to hear it from you. I don't know what happened between you two, or who this Candice is, but you have to tell him. I'm sure he won't deny the child, and even if he does, you have me and Brian by your side."
Raven looked at Brian, who offered her a gentle smile.
“Really?” she asked, knowing that none of this was fair to Brian.
“Always,” he told her. “No matter what happens, no matter what you decide, I’ll always support your decision. Even if it means letting you go back to Mason.”
Raven smiled, wiping her eyes and taking a shaky breath. "You're right, I don't care if he wants this child or not. I'm more than capable of raising this baby on my own."
"See, that's the spirit. Go, girl!" Sia cheered, retrieved the phone from Brian, and handed it back to Raven.
“Now?” Raven whispered, her stomach tightening as fear threatened to overwhelm her.
“Now,” Sia nodded, taking hold of her hand tightly.
Brian smiled, he was happy that Sia was able to convince her. Guess all she needed was a little boost from a fellow woman.
