                    Tara’ POV
I wake up to the sound of Killian’s phone ringing on the nightstand. He groans in disapproval as he reaches over to answer it.
“Now? It’s 5:15 in the morning. This can’t wait two and half more hours?” he says with tired irritation dripping from each word. I pretend to be asleep so he doesn’t know the phone woke me up as well.
“We’ll be down in a bit.” he growls and puts the phone back on the nightstand. He brings his arm around me and pulls me close to him. He nuzzled his face into my neck and starts kissing. The sensation of his beard against my neck and the kisses sends shivers through my body. His fingertips lightly dancing across my skin as he rubs my body feel like electricity running across my skin. I feel the pressure building in my core and my body temperature rising.
“How long will my mate pretend to be asleep?” he whispers into my ear as he lightly nips my ear lobe and kisses down my neck to my mark. My body betrays me and a moan escapes my lips. He laughs into his kiss and I turn to look at him.
“The Elders are downstairs waiting for us. The witch they sent for will be here soon.” he says rolling out of the bed.
“You’re just gonna leave me like that?” I respond aghast at his blatant disregard for my arousal. His laughter came from somewhere deep in his belly and echoed throughout the bedroom. The sound almost made me forget why I was upset.
“I’ll take care of you later, love. I promise. The fate of the world kind of rests in our hands so we need to go.” he says still standing at the end of the bed. I know he’s right but I’m not happy about it.
I fling the blankets off of me and storm into the bathroom to shower quickly and get dressed. When I exit the closet I run into a wall of pure muscle and two strong arms embracing me. There stood Killian with a towel draped around his waist and no shirt. Electricity ran through me from every place our skin touched.
“How long are you going to be mad at me, Tara?”
“I’m not mad… lI’m frustrated.” he tried to cover up his chuckle by clearing his throat.
“Okay so how long will you be frustrated then?”
“I don’t know. Let me go.”
“Tara, I can’t let you go away mad at me… I need to see you smile.” I flash him a very sarcastic grin and try to pull away.
“No ma’am. I need a real smile.” he says and I feel his fingers started wiggling against my sides. I squirm harder trying to escape his grip but to no avail. He continues his tickle assault until I promise not to be mad or frustrated with me and then lets me go to get himself dressed.
Just a few moments later he comes out and we head down to the dining hall. When we reach the bottom of the stairs, the Elders and a woman I have never seen before are waiting. She stands roughly five a half feet tall, long blonde hair, brown eyes, and a dazzling smile. I’m suddenly feeling very insecure.
“I must admit when you said you knew a witch that could help, I thought she’d be older.” says Killian to the group. She giggles and the sound is absolutely beautiful.
“While I do appreciate the compliment, Alpha Killian, I’m afraid you’re right. I am the oldest witch in my clan. A whopping 186 years old. Helena and Levi sent me.” she says and I gasp.
“Your mate on the other hand is a beauty unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Inside and out. I’d be honored to train her and fight against Atlas Nelson at her side.” she continues with a bow.
“Th… Thank you. My name is Tara.” I manage to squeak out and I reach out to shake her hand. The instant she grabs my hand, her body stiffens and her entire eye goes stark white. After about a minute, she jumps like a jolt of electricity had brought her back to life.
“Is there somewhere we could speak privately away from listening ears?” she says while keeping my hand in hers.
“The conference room is soundproof. Let’s go in there.” Killian says and she releases my hand to follow us.
“What did you see, Kaiya?” asks Elder Isaiah.
“A war is coming. During the next Blood Moon the dark wolf will attack. He will wait until the moon is highest in the sky as that is when his power is strongest. That is also when your power will be strongest, Tara.” she says directly to me but also to the group. I wonder if she could tell me if we win and if we will lose anyone in this war.
“I cannot tell you anything else. The outcome of the battle, the lives that will be lost, or any other information would be breaking the laws of witches.” she says as if she read my mind.
“The next Blood Moon is 9 months away. Will he really wait that long?” Elder Isaiah asks her.
“If that is what my vision showed then that is when the vision will take place. You dare doubt ME?” she says heavily offended with irritation in her tone. He simply shook his head and held his hands up in surrender. To avoid any further clashes, I stepped forward and placed my hands on the table.
“Well, Kaiya, I suggest we get to training. We’ve got 9 months to harness my powers and we don’t even know what powers I have.” I say with a nervous laugh. We took our leave and started the walk out to the training center that Killian had built specifically for me. As we were walking, she decides to strike up a conversation about my powers.
“You don’t know it yet, but you can fly.” Kaiya says and I stop in my tracks. She looks back at me and laughs at my confusion.
“You have wings, child. Did you think they were just for decoration?” she says before turning to continue walking. I open my mouth to say something and immediately shut it, realizing how foolish it was to think I couldn’t fly with the massive wings Lola has.
“I think I have some sort of super strength. Beyond normal werewolf strength.” I say as I catch up to her and she tilts her head to the side as if urging me to elaborate.
“Killian and I were in an argument the other night and when he approached me I put my hand up to his chest so he couldn’t get any closer and he flew across the room.” I say timidly. I am absolutely ashamed of that night.
“What were you feeling when this happened?” she asks inquisitively.
“I was angry at Killian for not telling me about the prophecy and the war sooner but also terrified that there was a prophecy about me and a war I had to fight.” I reply sheepishly.
“That tells me that some, if not all, of your powers are linked to your emotions.” she responds. As we are walking she suddenly trips, taking her arm through a thorny bush. When she stood up, her arm was covered in little cuts with blood seeping out of them. I take her hand to examine her arm and as I hold her hand all of the cuts begin to lightly glow until they disappear. There’s no trace whatsoever of the wounds.
“As I thought, you have the power of healing. Atlas is the wolf of death and destruction so it only makes sense that you would be the wolf of life and restoration.” she says with a smile while I stand looking at my hands completely awestruck.
We walk into the training facility and I begin explaining to her how Killian had requested it be sound proof and fire proof because we weren’t sure what powers I possess just yet.
“I don’t believe you have the gift of fire. That’s more of a destructive power than anything else. Please go stand over there, I want to test something.” she says and I nervously comply with her request. As I reach the other side of the facility, I turn to find Kaiya throwing a knife at me. I bring my arms up to shield myself and suddenly hear the blade fall to the floor a few feet away from me.
“That strength you thought you had? I do believe was actually the gift of a shield.” she says with a small smile on her face. She proceeded to take me through several tests to see what powers I have.
By the end of the day, I knew I have the ability to form balls of energy in my hand, fly, heal, shield, control the weather, manipulate the elements, and read the thoughts of others. I am also able to move objects with my mind. Kaiya says this ability will eventually grow into advanced telekinesis as I learn to use and control it.
“I am so exhausted. I’m not sure I can make it back to the packhouse, let alone our bedroom.” I say to Kaiya with a laugh. Killian must have been feeling my exhaustion through the mate bond because just as soon as the words left my mouth, there he was in the doorway of the training facility. A broad smile extends across his face as we make eye contact making my heart skip a beat or two.
“We are done for today, Alpha. Your mate is extraordinary. Please let me know if anymore gifts surface outside of training.” she says with a smile and a bow before leaving the building.
“Are you okay, love?” he says as he reaches my side. I simply nod and close my eyes summoning an energy ball to my hand. I show him and his eyes go wide as saucers but then he starts to reach for it.
“Are you crazy?” I ask him as I jerk my hand away.
“Remus says it won’t hurt me.” he says and I just raise my eyebrows at him sarcastically. Crazy wolf.
“Just humor us.” he says with a roll of his eyes and I move my hand back to him. His hand gets closer and the energy ball sort of changes shape like it is reaching out for him. He moves his hand closer and is able to actually pick the energy ball up out of my hand and throw it across the room. I gasp involuntarily and he simply looks down at his hand in awe.
“I think we should ask Kaiya about this. Are you supposed to be able to do that?” I ask with my hands still on my face from the shock.
“I don’t know.” he says still in disbelief.
“Let’s go home, Killian. It’s been a long day. We can worry about this tomorrow.” I say as I reach for his hand. The instant our skin touches I feel a sudden yank on my mind and when I open my eyes, I’m in a different time. The Blood Moon is high in the sky. I hear the sound of snarls, howls, and fighting all around me. In the darkness I see a blue glow and as I look closer, I see Killian. His whole body is glowing and he is wielding energy balls at our enemy. I feel my mind being yanked again and when I open my eyes this time, I’m standing in front of a very concerned Killian.
“What the hell was that? Are you okay?” he says panic evident in his voice.
“I just had a vision of the battle. We need to talk to Kaiya now.” I say with determined urgency and a renewed energy. Killian nods and we begin walking back to the packhouse.
“Nicole, please ask Kaiya to meet Tara and I in the conference room.” Killian says to him as we walk in.
“She’s already in there. She said Tara mind linked her.” he says pointing to the conference room and Lola suddenly pushed forward.
“I asked her to meet us there. That is another gift the Moon Goddess blessed us with. We can also link with other supernaturals.” Lola says before retreating back to the recesses of my mind.
“Well I guess that explains that. Y’all wanna be alone with her?” Nicole asks us very nonchalantly. He’s so laid back and it makes this whole situation feel a little less intense.
“You can join us if you’d like. It’s just a meeting to discuss the day.” I say before Killian can respond.
“I’ll sit this one out. I have some things I need to get done before dinner.” he says and waves as he walks up the stairs to his office. I let out a sigh and nod at Killian before heading into the conference room.
As soon as the door closes behind us, Kaiya starts speaking.
“You can speak into the minds of other supernatural beings. That’s one hell of a gift to leave out, Luna Tara.” she says obviously upset.
“I didn’t even know it happened. Lola did that without my knowledge.” I snapped back.
“Watch how you speak to my mate, witch. You’re in her home and you will respect her.” Killian says with his Alpha tone and a growl rumbling in his chest.
She immediately put her hands up in surrender.
“I apologize. Perhaps I too am exhausted from the long day. What is it you wanted to speak with me about?” she says calmly and I let out another deep breath.
“I had a vision and Killian can use my energy balls.” I say and Kaiya sat straight up in her seat.
“Show me.” she says and suddenly the three of us are trekking back to the training facility to continue what has already been a very long day.
