Killian’s POV
I really wanted the day to be over but once Tara had the vision I knew it was not. We had our meeting with Kaiya and we were now back in the training facility.
“Okay. Show me what you mean by he can use your energy balls.” Kaiya says. Tara nods, closes her eyes, and suddenly an energy ball appears in her hand. I reach out and pick the energy ball up out of her hand. I toss it around in my hands like a baseball before reading back and throwing it at the wall as hard as I can.
“You can share her powers.” Kaiya says with a blank stare.
“Stronger together.” Tara whispers and I look to her in confusion.
“The Moon Goddess. When she attended the Luna ceremony she said we were the strongest bond she had created and we would be stronger together.” she said and Kaiya’s eyes went wide.
“What? Why are you making that face?” I say to Kaiya.
“I must check with my resources but I do believe you may be able to share all of her powers. Didn’t you say you had a vision, Luna?” Tara just nods.
“Well? What did you see? It’s imperative that I know. Those visions are critical to your success.”
“The Blood Moon was at its peak and I heard the sounds of battle surrounding me but then I saw this bright blue glow in the midst of the darkness.”
“What was the glow?” I ask her with intense curiosity.
“It was you, Killian. Your entire body was glowing blue and you were wielding energy balls at our enemies.” she says and I am too stunned to speak.
The three of us stand in silence for a minute shocked by the vision Tara had.
“Um, Alpha, would you mind trying something for me?” Kaiya asks breaking the silence. I look at her with an eyebrow raised.
“Baby, look at me.” Tara says and I obey. Staring into her beautiful green orbs, I feel centered.
“Hold your hand out and close your eyes. Imagine the energy ball. The shape, color, and even the way you feel holding it. Try to will it into your hand.” she says and I suck my teeth at her in disbelief.
“Just humor us. I think Lola knows something.” she says and I nod.
I hold both hands out to the side, envision the energy balls, and just as I feel a surge of power running through me I hear Tara suck in a deep breath. I open my eyes to find that I am holding an energy ball in both hands.
“Lola is telling me she thinks we can do more than energy balls and I agree.” Remus says in the back of my mind.
“Like what?” I ask
“Blast the wall.” he says as if I should just know how to do it.
I let out a sigh and extend my arm towards the wall and nothing happens.
“You have to put power behind it.” says Kaiya. I look over at Tara and she has an energy ball in her hand. She rears back as if she is going to throw it and instead of throwing it, she just faces her hand towards the wall and a stream of blue glowing energy comes out of her hand.
I take a deep breath and plant my feet before envisioning myself pushing the energy from my hands. When I open my eyes I take one bracing step forward and throw my hands towards the wall. Two streams of energy leave my hands and as soon as I close my fists they cease.
“It appears that you will be training with us, Alpha. Let’s pick this up tomorrow. I know I’m exhausted so you two must be as well.” Kaiya says with a smile and Tara nods. The three of us retreat back to the packhouse and Kaiya bows as we part ways in the foyer.
“Let’s have dinner in our room, babe.” Tara says and I nod. We walk to the kitchen and let Ms. Shirley know that we’ll be dining in our room, what we’d like for dinner, and then climb the stairs to our bedroom.
“Wanna take a shower and watch some TV?” Tara asks me and I just nod.
“You haven’t said a single word to me since we were in the training facility. What’s wrong?” she says and I look at her confused.
“EARTH TO FINLEY?! What the HELL is your problem?” she yells getting angrier.
“I’m sorry, love. I didn’t realize. I was just… trying to wrap my brain around this.” I say back and her face softens a little bit.
“I know this is a lot to take in, believe me, I was there a couple weeks ago.” she says gently squeezing my hand.
“How about that shower and then we’ll watch one of your crime shows while we curl up in bed with our dinner?” I say with a small smile. A bright smile stretches across her face as she pulls me to the bathroom with her.
“Love, our dinner will be here soon.” I say as she begins stripping in front of me.
“No funny business. Just a quick shower to get clean and then done. I figured with 6 shower heads we could easily get it done faster.” she says pointing to the custom shower I had built.
“Oh. Okay. That’s a good idea.” I say with a hint of disappointment.
“Don’t get me wrong, I love making love to you but tonight is a night just for lovins. It’s been a long, exhausting day.” she says as she stands in front of me with no clothes on and her hands on my chest.
“You better go shower before I change your mind, Luna.” I say with a mischievous grin and she laughs that beautiful laugh I love so much.
After our shower, we enjoyed our seafood boil dinner while watching NCIS. If it weren’t for the mate bond, I think my mate would leave me for either Dinozzo or Gibbs. To say she’s obsessed is putting it mildly. After finishing an entire season, she turns it off and hands me the remote before rolling to her side. Within seconds she is sound asleep so I turn the TV off and lay down behind her, pulling her as close to me as possible.
“Stronger together” I say to myself over and over until the darkness begins to settle in and I allow sleep to consume me.
“Stronger together.”
Tara’ POV
I woke up to Killian’s strong arm holding me tightly to his body. He was such an array of emotions yesterday. He was excited, amazed, nervous, and frightened all at the same time. I wish I knew how to ease those feelings but I am supposed to lead an army into war and essentially save the entire supernatural race. I’ve barely wrapped my own head around it. Suddenly he released me and rolled to his other side on the opposite side of our bed. I was suddenly cold and Lola whimpered at his sudden absence.
“That was my doing. Don’t worry.” a soft, melodious voice says and I freeze. Suddenly a soft glow appears from the oversized chair in our sitting area and I see her. The Moon Goddess is sitting in my bedroom. I quickly and quietly get out of the bed and make my way to the couch.
“No disrespect because this is such an honor but what are you doing here?” I ask in a hushed whisper so as not to wake Killian.
“You two are both struggling with doubt. I made you two to have one of the strongest bonds in supernatural history but you’re here doubting yourselves and each other. He can share all your powers and you two will fight valiantly side by side. Trust in yourselves. Trust your bond. Trust me. You have everything you need to win this war and more.” the Moon Goddess says.
“Yes ma’am. We will. Thank you so much for coming.” I say standing as she stands up. She reaches her arms out for me and I walk into a tight, warm hug from the Moon Goddess herself.
Just as suddenly as she appeared, she was suddenly gone and I stood where she left me for a few minutes. I decided to sit down on the couch and continued thinking about what she had said to me. Killian stirred in his sleep for a brief second before sitting straight up in the bed.
“Tara?!” he yells in a panicked voice.
“I’m here.” I reply from the couch.
“What’s wrong? Are you still mad at me? I’m so sorry… please come back to bed.” he pleads as he squats down in front of me with his arms around me. I let out a small laugh and hold him for a minute.
“I’m not mad at you, my love. The Moon Goddess appeared tonight to speak with me.” I say softly as I run my nails over the back of his head.
“How did that go?” he replies without moving his head from my chest. I gently push him back so I can look at him and he lets out a low growl. I tap his mouth with two fingers and he glares at me.
“No growling at your Luna. This is serious.” I say and he sighs before getting up to sit on the couch beside me.
“Fine, my Luna. What is it?” he says facing me and I turn my body so I am facing him as well.
“She said that she made us to be one of the strongest bonds in her creation. That you can share ALL of my powers. She said we have to stop doubting each other, our bond, and her because we have everything we need to win this war together.” I say holding his hands. Killian opens his mouth as if he’s going to say something but immediately closes it. We sit in silence for a few minutes that felt like hours before he finally spoke.
“I’m sorry for doubting you and our bond. From now on we will train with Kaiya together and I will personally train you to fight. Nicole can take over pack duties while I get you ready.” he says looking me in the eye and I nod. He pulls me to him as he lays back on the couch and I snuggle into his chest, inhaling his scent to calm my own anxiety.
I wake up to a loud banging on the door and Killian jumps up as if to protect me. I look at the time and gasp causing him to flip around towards me.
“What? Whats wrong?!” he whisper yells at me.
“Huh? Oh. The time. We slept in late. That’s probably Kaiya or an Elder. It’s nearly 10am.” I say as I change into my training clothes.
“Shit.” is all he says as he walks to the door to answer it. On the other side is a very frustrated Kaiya and he gestures for her to come in.
“If you don’t care about training to control your powers and win this war, just say so because I do not appreciate having my time wasted.” she says angrily causing a growl to erupt from deep in Killian’s chest. I shake my head and send Killian to get ready.
“The Moon Goddess was here in the middle of the night and then Killian and I had to have a talk about what she told me. I’m sorry we slept late.” I say earnestly and she nods.
“Ok. That’s actually understandable. I apologize. What did she say?” she asks much more calmly and I proceed to take her through everything. By the end of my story time her jaw may as well be sitting on the ground. I snap in front of her face a few times to bring her back to reality.
“Earth to Kaiya… Anyone in there?” I say.
“You two will be the King and Queen of the werewolves. I read a prophecy of a mated pair of werewolves that rises above all and end up being like royalty in the supernatural world. You will work alongside the leaders of all supernatural kind. Witches, Faes, Fairies, other shifters, and so on. I’ve been blessed to be able to train you.” she says as she bows.
“That’s very sweet but I can only handle one prophecy at a time so can we take care of this one first?” I say with a nervous laugh and she nods.
Killian comes out of the bathroom dressed for training and we head out to the training facility to work on our powers. Kaiya is practicing with Killian more than me because I have already done these beginning stages so I can’t help but let my mind wander… What did she mean by a SECOND prophecy? Were Killian and I destined to be more than just the “supernatural saviors” as they have called us? Would we be able to lead the entire werewolf race? So many questions were swirling in my head.
“Like you said Tara, one prophecy at a time. This one isn’t proven to be us like the one we are training for so let’s forget it for now.” Lola says in my mind and I nod. She’s right. One prophecy at a time.
