friday nights in the gryffindor common rooms would never not be a night to remember. remus was sitting in the corner, a book in hand, the usual. sirius was high out of his mind with a girl you've never seen before sitting upon his lap. and then, the same james you've been crushing on since third year, was doing rounds of shots like his life depended on it.
"y/n, y/n, come here." the drunk raven headed boy called out to you. he was gesturing you towards him with his hand.
"what's up potter?" you ask, leaning your weight against your arms on the wooden table that his many shot glasses were sprawled across.
"we're playing truth or dare, you should join." he states. truth and dare at hogwarts was a lot different than what you were used to back home. if you picked truth, you had to take a shot of truth serum to guarantee you were telling the truth. if you picked dare, you followed through with whatever the group picks for you. if you back out of the dare, you have to take a shot of firewhiskey.
"sounds fun, why not?" you say, taking a seat down next to james, who throws an arm around your shoulder and pulls you in while laughing.
frank longbottom, at this point a little more than tipsy, called out the first question for you.
"y/n, truth or dare?" he asks, his words slurring a bit.
"truth." you reply, not intrested in any of the dares they may have planned for you.
one of the gryffindor boys slide over the vetriserum tube, and you swig a sip from the top.
"who do you fancy?" frank asks you.
"james." you had zero control over what came out of your mouth, the word came out faster than you could process.
sirius, who you had to assume had been listening in on bits and pieces of the conversation, whipped his head towards you, almost at the exact same time james had next to you.
"you're serious?" james asks you, a certain look in his eye that you couldn't distinguish.
"no, i'm y/n." you reply sarcastically, a smirk falling over your face. james laughed at your comment, you were glad to know he wasn't tense at your answer.
the game continued on a few more rounds, james acting as his normal, drunk self.
as the round came to an end and you began to stand up, you feel a warm hand grab you by your waist. "y/n, can i er- speak to you in private?" james asks you, scratching the back of his neck.
"james!" you turn your head quickly. "uh, yeah. follow me to my dorm." you reply nervously.
the two of you walked up the girls dormitory steps and into your dorm in an awkward stance.
"what is it you needed to talk about?" you ask him, crossing your arms across your chest.
"it's about what you said during the game." he admits hastily.
"oh- james i'm so sorry, i didn't mean for you to find out like that- or even at all." the words sped out of your mouth like wildfire.
"y/n. no, no. i wanted to tell you that i feel the same." he says to you. his grin is bigger than the sun, and his hands are resting on your cheeks.
before you knew it, his lips were pressed against yours and you were tripping backwards together pressed again your dorm room bed.
