Julia's POV
I walked to school the following morning, feeling the itch on my neck where Valen had bitten me. No matter how much I tried to shake it off, the memory of last night kept replaying in my mind. His words, his actions—they haunted me.
I’d been marked. By an Alpha.
The thought sent shivers down my spine, not from excitement but from anger and confusion. I hadn’t agreed to this. Valen had claimed me forcefully, ignoring my protests, and the worst part was that I couldn’t undo it.
I clenched my fists, remembering how I stormed out on him after the marking. His smug, possessive expression had only fueled my rage. “You’ll understand in time,” he’d said, as if that justified anything. I yelled at him, accused him of taking away my freedom, and then I left, slamming the door behind me.
Now, as I walked through the school gates, the weight of last night’s events felt even heavier. People turned to stare as I passed, their conversations halting mid-sentence. I could hear the whispers—some in awe, some tinged with jealousy or curiosity.
“ that's her?”
“The Alpha’s mate?”
“She’s the new Luna!”
The word “Luna” sent a pang through me. I didn’t want this title. I didn’t want any of this attention.
I quickened my pace, desperate to escape their prying eyes. When I finally reached the classroom, the chatter inside died instantly. Every head turned toward me, and I froze in the doorway, feeling like an animal on display.
“Hey, Luna!” Jessy called out, her tone light and teasing. She was grinning as if this was all some kind of joke.
I rolled my eyes, irritation bubbling to the surface. “Don’t call me that,” I muttered, walking to my seat.
Jessy slid into the desk beside mine, resting her chin on her hand. “Oh, come on, Julia. You’re officially the talk of the pack. You should be proud!”
“Proud?” I shot her a sharp look. “Do you have any idea what this means for me? I didn’t choose this, Jessy. He forced me.”
Jessy’s smile faltered for a moment, but then she shrugged. “Well, it’s not like you can change it now. Might as well embrace it. Besides I now have a Luna besty”
I groaned, leaning back in my chair. My gaze wandered around the room, noticing a few familiar faces—and one glaring absence. “Where’s Aiden?” I asked, frowning.
Her expression shifted, becoming colder. “I don’t know,” she said flatly, crossing her arms. “And I don’t care.”
Her response surprised me. Jessy and Aiden had not yet acknowledged each other. They especially looked perfect together.since they found each others Before I could press further, the classroom door opened, and our teacher walked in.
“Good morning, everyone,” she said, her gaze sweeping the room before landing on me. She smiled warmly. “Ah, Julia. Congratulations on your new position. It’s an honor to have a Luna in our class.”
I wanted to sink into my chair and disappear. “Thank you,” I mumbled, avoiding her gaze.
The rest of the day passed in a blur. The whispers never stopped, and I could feel the weight of everyone’s stares wherever I went. By the time the final bell rang, I was more than ready to leave.
Jessy walked beside me as we headed for the school gate. She seemed distracted, her usual bubbly demeanor replaced with an uncharacteristic restlessness.
“You okay?” I asked, glancing at her.
“Yeah, fine,” she said quickly, but her eyes darted around as if she were searching for something—or someone.
Before I could question her further, I froze. My heart skipped a beat as my eyes locked onto a figure standing just outside the gate.
Valen.
He was leaning casually against a sleek black Maybach, his arms crossed over his chest. Even from a distance, his commanding presence was undeniable. His dark eyes found mine, and a small, knowing smile played on his lips.
“What is he doing here?” I whispered, more to myself than to Jessy.
Jessy stiffened beside me, her expression unreadable. “I… I’ll see you tomorrow,” she said hurriedly before darting off in the opposite direction.
I swallowed hard, my feet rooted to the ground. Part of me wanted to turn and run, but I knew it was pointless. Valen wasn’t the type to take no for an answer.
As if sensing my hesitation, he pushed off the car and started walking toward me. Each step he took seemed deliberate, purposeful. My heart pounded in my chest as he stopped a few feet away, his gaze never leaving mine.
“I came to pick you up,” he said, his voice low and smooth. Then, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, he added, “Let’s go home… my love.”
I stared at him, my mind racing. Home? What home? Did he honestly think I was just going to go along with this?
“No,” I said firmly, taking a step back. “I’m not going anywhere with you.”
His smile didn’t waver, but there was a flicker of something in his eyes—amusement, perhaps. “You’re my mate, Julia. You belong with me.”
“I didn’t ask to be your mate!” I snapped. “You marked me without my consent. You can’t just show up here and expect me to—”
“To what?” he interrupted, his tone sharp now. “To accept what’s already done? Whether you like it or not, Julia, you’re mine. And I take care of what’s mine.”
I shook my head, my fists clenching at my sides. “You don’t own me, Valen.”
His gaze softened slightly, but his resolve was unyielding. “You can fight this all you want, but the bond is real. It’s stronger than your anger, stronger than your fear. You’ll see that in time. Now, come here Julia!"
