The training ground was quiet—a secluded clearing surrounded by tall trees swaying gently in the midday breeze. The rustle of leaves and the distant call of birds gave a false sense of peace. Tension simmered between the two girls standing at its center.
Jessy moved first. A flash of motion. Quick, precise.
Julia met her halfway, bracing low and blocking the first strike with her forearm. The second came faster—a spinning sweep meant to take her down. Julia leapt, barely dodging, but landed wrong. Her foot slipped on loose earth.
“Focus!” Jessy snapped, catching Julia’s wrist midair and twisting just enough to throw her off balance.
Julia hit the ground with a soft grunt, the breath knocked from her lungs. Dust clung to her lips. Sweat trickled down her back.
“Did I hit you too hard?” Jessy asked, suddenly worried, jogging over.
“I’m fine,” Julia panted, pushing herself up. “At least I didn’t fall on my face this time.”
Jessy snorted and offered a hand. “You’ve improved—but not enough. If Valen finds out about this, I’m toast.”
Julia took her hand, pulling herself up. “Relax. Just training. No rules broken... yet.”
They wandered toward the shade of a tree, where two water flasks waited. Julia took a long drink before passing it to Jessy. She sat down, still catching her breath.
Jessy leaned against the bark, arms folded, frown forming. “So... when do we do it?”
Julia looked up at the sky. “Soon. I’ll contact lily. Tell her I want to give her the necklace. That I forgive her. That I miss her. Pretend I want us to be close again—like we were before.”
Jessy blinked. “You think she’ll believe that, seriously? ”
“She’s obsessed with the pendant. If she thinks she’s won, she’ll come. She’s not clever, just desperate.”
Jessy hesitated, eyes flicking to the trees. “She’s in the Northern Pack. Heavily guarded. If we walk in there, we won’t walk out.”
“She won’t want anyone knowing she met me,” Julia said calmly. “She wants to keep her halo intact. Damon still thinks she’s pure. She won’t risk losing that.”
“And if she brings backup?”
Julia’s voice dropped. “Then we outsmart her first. She wants the necklace. She’ll come.”
Jessy sighed, thinking. “We’ll need wolfbane cuffs. Strong ones. She’s human, so she won’t break them. And a soundproof room. I know a place.”
Julia gave a small, impressed nod. “So, you’re in?”
“She deserves worse. But if we can make her talk—about Damon, about what she knows—then it’s worth it.”
“You think she’ll confess?”
“Not unless we make her, but trust me, I Know a way of making her talk . Just in case” Jessy said, darkly.
A sudden rustle behind them made both girls tense. Jessy immediately turned, shoulders stiff.
A familiar voice rang out. “What are these pretty little heads plotting now?”
Aiden stepped from behind a tree, his silver hair catching the sunlight. A smirk danced on his lips. His hands tucked in his pockets.
Jessy groaned. “We’re talking about girly stuff, Aiden. Go away.”
“Girly stuff?” he echoed, walking closer and wrapping an arm around her shoulder. “You mean how madly in love with me you are but can't bring your self to admit it?, besides, no one can resist this good looking me . You are even lucky to have a mate like me”
“Dream on,” Jessy muttered, shrugging him off.
Aiden clutched his chest dramatically. “So cruel. Still denying fate?”
Jessy didn’t bother with a reply. She aimed a kick at his ankle instead.
He dodged with ease, laughing. “Feisty as ever.”
He turned to Julia, who now sat cross-legged in the grass, expression unreadable. “So, really... what were you two plotting?”
“Girl stuff,” Julia replied coolly.
Aiden narrowed his eyes, then beamed, his eyes shining with malicious glint. “Wait—I get it. Period talk.”
Jessy smacked the back of his head.
“Ow!” Aiden yelped. “What was that for?”
“For being disgusting. And nosy.”
He rubbed his head with a pout. “Werewolves don’t even get periods. Julia must’ve been explaining it to you like some biology teacher.”
“I will kill you,” Jessy growled.
“Want me to find you a book on it?” Aiden offered with a mischievous grin.
“I’ll bury you under this tree.”
Julia chuckled but then sat up straighter, her tone shifting. “Aiden. What’s the latest with the Alpha and Beta?”
The smirk slipped from his face. He crossed his arms. “Security’s tight. No wolf or human enters or leaves without us knowing. Valen and my bro made sure of it.”
“And Damon?” she asked.
“Still pretending to be the perfect alpha king,” Aiden muttered. “No slip-ups. No mistakes. But something’s brewing—we can feel it. We just don’t have proof. Without that, the other packs won’t take our side.”
“And if it comes to war?” Jessy asked.
Aiden’s eyes darkened. “Then we fight. Valen’s preparing for that. But we hope it won’t come to that.”
Julia nodded. “That’s why Lily has to talk. No more hoping she’ll change. She won’t.”
Jessy looked at her. “So we trap her. Get it on record. Use her words.”
“Exactly,” Julia said.
Aiden tilted his head, connecting the dots. “So this is your big plan? And you’re doing this behind the Alpha’s back? What if he finds out.”
They were silent. Then both girls looked at him.
He sighed, clearly torn.
“Risky,” he muttered. “But not impossible.”
hey both looked at each other then to Aiden, their eyes pleading to keep their plan confidential. "You can join us too" Julia and Jessy pleaded for his help.
Aiden rolled his eyes, and sighed , feeling conflicted “Fine. I’m in. But if this goes sideways, I’m blaming both of you.”
Silence hung over them like a storm cloud.
Then Aiden grinned, his smirk widening “Still thinking this started as a period talk.”
Jessy gave him a deadly look.
Julia smiled faintly.
And somewhere beyond the trees, the wind stirred again—whispering of things to come.
