The school day ended in its usual chaos, but today, I couldn't wait to leave. The endless whispers about mates had left me on edge. And also something about the Alpha King left me shivering. I hurried out of the school gates, only to find Aiden leaning casually against a tree, his smirk firmly in place.
"Julia," he called, falling into step beside me.
I sighed, quickening my pace. "What do you want, Aiden?"
"Relax, I'm just being nice," he said, grinning. "Let me walk you home."
"I'm fine on my own," I replied, but he didn't budge.
"You're different," he said after a moment, his tone softer. "You know that?"
I rolled my eyes. "Is that your best line?"
"I'm serious, Julia. There's something about you-something... intriguing."
I stopped, turning to face him. "Aiden, stop. You don't know me, and I'm not interested."
His smirk faltered for a second, replaced by a flicker of sincerity. "You'll see it one day," he said with a playful wink before stepping back.
I didn't respond, turning on my heel and walking away.
By the time I reached home, the sun was dipping below the horizon, casting long shadows over the huge mansion I shared with my aunt. Well, we are the lucky few because my uncle is in military. The door creaked as I stepped inside, greeted by the sharp tang of cleaning chemicals and my aunt's familiar glare.
"You're late," she snapped, her arms crossed tightly over her chest.
"I had school, Lily is late too." I said, keeping my voice steady.
Her lips curled into a sneer. "School. What good is that going to do? You're just like your mother-useless and ungrateful. And my Lily...she has her reasons"
The words hit harder than I expected, but I bit my tongue. Arguing would only make it worse.
"Go make dinner," she barked, turning her back on me.
I moved to the kitchen, my hands trembling as I chopped vegetables. The smell of stew filled the air, but my appetite had long vanished. My aunt's words echoed in my mind, their weight pressing down on me.
After cleaning up, I retreated to my tiny room. The bed creaked under my weight, but it was my only refuge. I curled up, letting the day's exhaustion pull me into the dark void of sleep. I miss my uncle. When he's here, everything is fine.
The Dream
I was running.
The forest stretched endlessly before me, bathed in soft moonlight that shimmered through the towering trees with a vast sea of roses and green grases. My feet pounded against the damp earth, my breaths coming in sharp, shallow bursts.
Behind me, I could hear the sound of paws-steady, deliberate, and far too close. I turned my head slightly, catching a glimpse of the wolf chasing me. Its fur was gray, sleek, and luminous under the moonlight. Its eyes glowed a piercing gold, radiating a power that made my heart race.
It wasn't like the other wolves I had seen in fleeting glances during the ceremony. This one was different-larger, stronger, and terrifyingly majestic.
But it didn't attack. Instead, it slowed its pace, watching me with an intensity that made my skin prickle.
The forest suddenly shifted, the ground beneath me hardening into cracked earth. The moonlight dimmed, replaced by a fiery red glow that seemed to come from nowhere. A low growl rumbled through the air, and I turned to see another wolf-this one massive and black, its fur matted and its eyes burning like embers. And a long scar across it's face making him horrifying.
The gray wolf stepped in front of me, its posture tense and protective. The black wolf snarled, the sound reverberating through the air, and then it lunged.
The two collided with a force that shook the ground, their snarls filling the air as they fought. I stumbled back, unable to tear my gaze away.
The black wolf's strength was overwhelming, and the gray wolf faltered. Blood stained its silver fur as it was thrown to the ground. The black wolf turned to me, its burning gaze locking onto mine.
"You cannot run from fate," a deep, guttural voice echoed in my mind.
The heat intensified, flames erupting around me. The gray wolf struggled to rise, but the black wolf loomed over it, victorious.
Before I could do anything, I saw a sword made of sapphire, shining brightly...drawing me near it...Then, everything went dark.
Unknown person's pov
The room was filled with dark energy. A man is seen facing a dark red smoky mirror.
" Show me the future." He said shortly.
The mirror showed himself sitting at the highest throne with all creatures under his torture. Her smile widening. but suddenly a sapphire blade pierced his heart.
Her eyes widened with shock. Every time he asked for the future, it shows everything the same, the way he wants except for the sword part.
" What's this!" His voice rumbled with anger.
" Sorry sire but I see a girl. Can't make out her face well... She holds the sword"The mirror replied.
The man let out a thunderous laughter. " No one changes the destiny. I need more power. Contact the witch." He said turning around, his scar evident, cutting through his left eye.
I sat up in bed, my breaths ragged and my heart racing. The vividness of the dream lingered, each detail etched into my mind-the Grey wolf's fierce gaze, the black wolf's chilling growl, and the fiery wasteland that consumed everything.
It felt more than just a nightmare. It felt like a warning.
Shaking my head, I tried to dismiss the unease creeping over me. Dreams were just dreams, weren't they?
But deep down, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was coming. Something I wasn't ready for.
And it terrified me.
