The school buzzed with excitement as students gathered for the grand reopening of the library. Everyone was dressed to kill, flaunting their best outfits as though it were a fashion show. I however, chose simplicity. A pair of jeans and a tank top were all she needed.
I spotted my cousin, Lily, a few feet away. Lily looked stunning in a flowing dress, her makeup flawless. But she had been distant lately, I wasn't sure why. I decided not to dwell on it.
The sound of familiar footsteps made me turn. Aiden strolled towards me, his ever-present smirk plastered across his face.
"Hey, beautiful," he greeted, stopping just short of her. "You look...cool?"
Raising an eyebrow, already annoyed. "What's that supposed to mean?"
He shrugged, his grin widening. "You're different. A little sassier. I like it."
I rolled my eyes. "You like everything that breathes, Aiden."
"Not true," he said, leaning closer. "You're special."
Before I opened my mouth to snap back, but a voice cut through the tension.
"Hey, Julia. Hey, Aiden."
Jessy approached, her face serious. "You know, my wolf go crazy every time I see you, Aiden. Any idea why?"
Aiden chuckled, brushing it off. "Probably because I'm too much for it to handle."
Jessy's expression didn't soften. She turned to Julia. "What about you, Julia? Do you feel it?"
I frowned, unsure of what Jessy meant. "Feel what?"
" Smell of roses and vanilla..."
I shook my head with disapproval.
"Mate?" I whipped my head back to Aiden whose now eyes were glowing silver. My heart skipped. I'm Aiden's mate!
Aiden locked his eyes on mine. My heartbeat increased as i process the situation.
Oh I get it. Jessy. I turned just to see Jessy staring at him with the same intensity. I giggled, pulling them out of their worlds. Aiden looked away uncomfortable.
I pulled them together " oh come on you two look great together. Think about it"
Before Jessy could answer, a loud announcement signaled the start of the ceremony. The crowd shifted, and everyone's attention turned toward the stage.
The ceremony began smoothly, with speeches and cheers filling the air. But as it progressed, My heart beat wildly for unknown reasons as I kept looking at the gate.
After what seemed like eternity, murmurs swept through the crowd. Alpha Valen had arrived.
I turned my head, and there he was. Late but undeniably commanding, his presence sent a ripple through the gathered students.
Dressed sharply, his aura radiated authority as he scanned the crowd. Then his eyes locked on me.
Her breath caught. His gaze was eerily familiar, shifting from black to gold, stirring memories of the gray wolf from my dream. My heart raced as he held my gaze for a moment that felt like an eternity before turning away, his expression unreadable.
The ceremony continued, but I barely registered it. My mind was spinning. The Alpha kept his gaze on me and I could see something like excitement and relief in his eyes.
Then, at the end of the event, Alpha Valen stepped forward, his voice calm but powerful as it echoed through the courtyard.
"I have an announcement," he said, his eyes once again finding Mine.
The crowd hushed, anticipation crackling in the air.
He walked in the crowds, people making way until he reached Infront of me. He smiled, his smile gorgeous that melted my heart.
"I have found my mate, you're Luna," he declared, his gaze never wavering. "Julia Rose ."
Gasps erupted around me. Faces turned, a mix of shock and excitement etched into them.
My stomach dropped. The weight of their stares, the intensity of Valen's claim-it was too much. Without thinking, I turned and ran, My heart pounding as I fled the scene.
The crowd, once a buzz with excitement, now stood frozen, their whispers cascading like waves through the courtyard. The bright decorations and banners celebrating the library's reopening seemed to fade into the background, overshadowed by Alpha Valen's powerful declaration.
Julia's breath hitched as she pushed through the throng of students. Faces blurred, their stunned expressions and curious stares blending into a chaotic swirl. Her heart raced, echoing in her ears louder than the murmurs of the crowd.
The once-familiar path out of the courtyard now felt endless. Her sneakers slapped against the cobblestones, her movements hurried and uneven. The vibrant lights of the event illuminated her flushed face, tears threatening to spill as the weight of the moment bore down on her.
Behind her, Alpha Valen's gaze remained fixed, unwavering even as she disappeared into the shadows of the school grounds. His eyes glinted under the lights, his jaw tightening, but he didn't follow. Instead, his presence lingered, an invisible force that seemed to pull everyone's attention.
Jessy stood in the crowd, her expression conflicted, torn between disbelief and something deeper-concern. Aiden's smirk faltered for the first time, his eyes narrowing as he tracked Julia's retreating form. Lily, standing apart from the others, clutched her flowing dress, her face pale and unreadable.
The festive atmosphere had shifted, the joyous celebration now replaced with a palpable tension as they witnessed their Luna running away. Whispers turned to speculation, excitement to unease. All eyes were on Alpha Valen, but his were solely on the space where Julia had stood moments before.
Whoa, talk about a twist! 😱 Julia's world just flipped upside down with Alpha Valen's shocking announcement. What's going to happen next? 😳 Stay tuned! 👀
