Alpha Valen's Pov
The morning started with a strange restlessness. I woke earlier than usual, my body tense, my mind unable to settle. It was as though something was pulling me, an invisible force I couldn't explain but couldn't ignore.
I paced my study, trying to focus on the pile of paperwork on my desk, but my concentration was shot. Every time I sat down, that pull grew stronger, tugging at my chest, my mind, my very soul.
"Valen," my Beta, Ryker called from the doorway, his voice breaking my thoughts. "We're going to be late for the ceremony."
I nodded, grabbing my coat, but my mind was elsewhere. I didn't know why I was so on edge about this event. It was just a reopening ceremony at the local school-something I could've skipped entirely. Yet, the idea of not going felt... wrong.
The car ride was no better. I sat in the back seat, my hands gripping the edge of the seat as the pull grew stronger. By the time we neared the school, it was almost unbearable.
"Stop the car," I ordered sharply.
My Beta frowned. "We're almost there. What's-"
"Stop the car!"
The driver hit the brakes, and before the car had even come to a complete stop, I was out, the cool air hitting me like a wave. My chest felt tight, my heartbeat erratic as I looked around. I didn't know what I was searching for, but I knew I had to find it.
The moment I stepped onto the school grounds, the pull intensified. It wasn't just a feeling now-it was a roar in my mind, a fire in my veins. I moved through the crowd, barely registering the faces around me, my focus singular.
And then I saw her.
She was standing near the edge of the courtyard, her dark hair catching the sunlight, her posture casual yet graceful. She wasn't dressed like the others, who seemed to treat the event like a fashion show. In simple jeans and a tank top, she was effortlessly stunning.
I stopped in my tracks, my breath catching.
It's her.
I didn't need anyone to tell me. The bond was unmistakable, its pull stronger than ever. My mate. My Luna.
For a moment, I just stood there, taking her in. Her features were soft yet striking, her eyes bright with curiosity as she looked around. There was something about her-an energy, a presence-that drew me in like nothing ever had.
I didn't know her name, and yet she already felt like home.
"Alpha," My beta's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
I blinked, realizing I'd been standing there, staring. The ceremony was about to start, and people were beginning to notice me. Reluctantly, I tore my gaze away from her and followed Adrian to the front of the crowd.
The speeches began, but I didn't hear a word. My mind was entirely consumed by her. Who was she? What was she doing here? And why did fate choose her for me?
The moment the speeches ended, I turned to one of the teachers. "The girl in the jeans and tank top-what's her name?"
The teacher followed my gaze, her expression thoughtful. "Julia Rose. She's one of our students."
Julia Rose.
The name felt perfect, like it was meant to be whispered by my lips. I looked back at her, my chest tightening as I saw her staring back at me. She had no idea, no clue that her life was about to change forever.
I stepped forward, the crowd parting instinctively as I made my way to the stage. My heart was racing, a mix of excitement and nerves coursing through me. I had waited for this moment for so long, dreamed of finding my mate, of claiming her as mine. And now that she was here, I wasn't going to let anything stand in my way.
As I reached the microphone, the courtyard fell silent. All eyes were on me, but I only had eyes for her.
"I have an announcement," I began, my voice steady despite the storm of emotions inside me.
I found her in the crowd, her gaze locking with mine. For a moment, time seemed to stop. I walked swiftly towards her as the crowd parted, then stopped Infront if her.
"I have found my mate, you're Luna
" I said, my voice carrying across the courtyard. "Julia Rose."
The reaction was immediate. Gasps echoed around me, whispers spreading like wildfire. Julia's eyes widened, her expression a mix of shock and disbelief.
And then she ran.
I froze, watching as she pushed through the crowd, her figure disappearing into the distance. My heart sank, but it wasn't defeat I felt-it was determination.
She was scared, overwhelmed, and I couldn't blame her. This was sudden, unexpected, and probably terrifying for her. But I wasn't going to give up.
I stepped off the stage, my jaw set as I made my way through the crowd. Adrian caught up to me, his expression concerned. "Alpha, what are you doing?"
"I'm going after her," I said firmly.
"Give her time," he urged. "She needs space to process this."
I stopped, my eyes glaring daggers at him. I wasn't going to sit back and do nothing.
"She's my mate," I said quietly, my voice filled with resolve. " I won't let her go. She's mine, and I'll do whatever it takes to make her see that."
As I stood there, watching the direction she'd gone, one thing became clear. Julia was my future, my everything. And I would move heaven and earth to take care of her, to protect her, to love her.
This was just the beginning.
