Just then, Vincent Lombardi and Noah Luwelton burst into the room.
The moment Vincent saw Evelyn Langley and Sophia Valentine freed from their restraints, his face twisted with fury.
With a vicious kick, he sent both women sprawling backward, his voice a venomous snarl.
"You really thought you could escape? Dream on!"
Noah chimed in with a cruel smirk, "Yeah, just behave. Once we drag you back to the village, you'll be popping out our kids whether you like it or not."
Evelyn and Sophia lay frozen on the floor, too terrified to utter a word.
Vincent then turned his sneer toward Liam Deross, his voice dripping with contempt.
"Look at this sorry excuse of a man—always playing the nice guy. With that pathetic face, he actually thought he could have a wife and kids? What a joke!"
Noah nodded in agreement.
"Damn right. His wife died in childbirth because of him. If he hadn't been such a cheap bastard, refusing to take her to a real hospital, she'd still be alive."
But then, Vincent's lips curled into a cold, knowing smirk as he dropped the real bombshell.
Back then, Liam had given Vincent the money for the hospital—but Vincent had pocketed it.
He'd blown every last cent on gambling, convinced he could double it.
When he lost everything, he returned with a lie—claiming the hospital had turned them away.
A shiver ran down Evelyn's spine. She'd known these men were vile, but this? This was pure evil.
Seizing the moment, she let her voice tremble deliberately.
"Honestly… he's just pitiful. All he ever wanted was a family. Unlike you two—heartless monsters."
Vincent scoffed.
"Heartless? We're just desperate. Slaving away in this city, when would we ever get wives? This is our only shot—we're not wasting it."
Evelyn turned to Noah, her voice softer, probing.
"What about you? Don't you feel anything? What if I were your sister? Your daughter?"
Noah hesitated, but then his jaw set stubbornly. "I don't care. It's fate."
She pressed harder. "Aren't you afraid of karma? This is illegal—you'll pay for it."
Vincent waved her off with a dismissive sneer. "Enough. Karma won't stop us. We'll worry about that after we have kids."
As the two men closed in, Vincent suddenly announced he needed to piss.
Noah muttered under his breath about him always causing delays.
Evelyn saw her chance.
Leaning closer to Noah, she whispered,
"See how he treats you? Orders you around, makes you wait. Today it's this—tomorrow, he'll walk all over you. Let us go, and we'll go back to the village… just for you."
But Noah was stubborn. No matter how she spun it, he refused to listen.
When Vincent returned, he yanked off his shirt and glared at Noah.
"Quit dragging your feet! Get on with it!"
Seeing Noah wouldn't break, Evelyn switched tactics, lying straight to Vincent's face.
"Noah wants us for himself. He said we should only bear his children."
Vincent exploded.
He slammed Noah to the ground with a brutal kick, roaring,
"You backstabbing piece of shit! After everything I've done for you?!"
Noah scrambled back, stammering uselessly.
Evelyn fanned the flames. "See? I told you he'd turn on you."
Realization—and fear—flashed in Noah's eyes.
In a split-second decision, he lunged at Vincent.
Chaos erupted.
Evelyn grabbed Sophia's hand and bolted for the door.
The moment they were spotted, they ran like hell.
