"Heard them niggas down the block under us knocked yo' shit up key." Kevo jokes around, tapping my wounded area that painted itself under my eye, "That shut cold cuh."
"It's no preference," I reply, eyelids barely able to see nodding my head at Kevo, "No jokes today, I don't have time for anything today Kevon."
"Bro lost me with the full name." Kevo chuckled, "But, I understand. Not jokes today. But when you recovered."
I stale face him, accepting the smallโ€”soft punches he was throwing on my forearm as if I was a punching bag to him. "Fuck on Kevo, I'm being deadset." I shut him up, slightly feeling badโ€” like I was to harsh on him. "My bad."
"For what?" He laughs, scoffing lightly under his breath, "I'm a big boy. Ain't nun but a little anger gon' hurt me." I nod, "But where's Paco? Where you send him?"
"I told 'em to go handle something for me, he on a phone call." I say, leaning my back against the picnic table, glaring up towards the sunny blue skysโ€” clouds filling up the empty areas.
"Handling what? Why can't I handle shit for you? I'm your brother as well key." Kevo says, disappointed at me, dropping his eyebrows removing himself off the table.
"Because this is different, I don't want you to get any trauma for the shit." I lift my back up, patting the side of his shoulders, pulling him back so he couldn't leave. "Where the fuck you think you going?"
"There's no use of me no'more if I'm not gon' do shit to the niggas that fuck you up."
"Bra, kevo." I kissed my teeth, "You're my brother, not my blood, but you my brother fa'sho. If you want to know what Paco is doing bad just ask my nigga, it ain't hard."
"Well?" I pull my thing brows together, waiting for a question to slip out of his lips. "Hurry up, this sun burning the fuck out of me. Swear to buddah I hate California weather."
"What y'all doing?"
"You know them new bathrooms they making?" I ask him, growing a sinister look upon my face, biting onto the side of my cheeks seeing if anything was clicking on his mind.
"Watchu' on some highschool shit? Man!" Kevo huffs, I snickered shaking my head in disbelief. "I could've dunked ol' boy in the bowls if I wanted to."
"No, no." I stood up, hands rested on the side of my hipsโ€”squinting my eyes from the beaming sun. "His bodyโ€”is." I say, waiting for him to finish my sentence.
He glares at me confused, scratching his head like I was speaking gibberish, "Is what?"
"His body is going to be with cement. Bro, bro 'bout to be carved in them walls."
"Wait, soโ€” ohh! Aw, shit!" It finally catches onto him, Kevo looks at me with his mouth gaped open. "Oh, you one sick muhfucker' Key. Nah, nah, you not even a menace, you da' devil fa'sho."
"A'ight bra, you dragging shit." I chuckle, hearing the announcer say 'court yard closed.'
"So, let's be sure I'm talking to my boy Key or that other side of key." Kevo clears his throatโ€” following behind him. "You know."
"I know watchu' mean." I smile, patting his back, pulling him in my embrace. "It's just me, just Key."
"Thank the Lord."

"Hand's out, legs open." Sighing, i felt relieved as the silver cuffs went loose on my wrist, standing outside of the infirmary, waiting for the guard to knock on the door.
"Can you hurry up, some people are in pain here." The bearded guard rolls his eyes, clearing his throat while his head peaked through the transparent window. "Is she there?" I ask, dying to see her face again.
"She's eating. So, you have to wait until her break is over. There's guards in the hallways and off duty if you're going to try something."
"Look at me." I laugh lightly, holding onto my stomach accepting the pain that was slowly forming in my stomach, "Who is this weak body going to harm?"
He chuckles, amused of the choice of words I used. Waving me off.
Glaring around, I couldn't be anymore patient standing behind the door of somebody I kissed, and clearly have feelings for; feelings I quite haven't felt in years from being locked since sixteen.
"Fuck it." I say, barging through the doors. Stopping vendetta from eating laughing at the string of noodles that glued itself on her bottom lip. "Hey beautiful."
Her wide eyes meet with mine, finishing up the left over food she was still chewing on, her palms faced me, "Key!" She calls me out in excitement.
"Yes?" I smile, grunting as I sat myself down on the bed. "You missed me? It's been weeks I'm sure."
She stands up, placing the container of noodles down on her desk. "You're slowly healing, I like that for you." Her arms snake around my neck, pulling herself in my embrace creating small butterflies in my stomach.
"Appreciate it. But, guess what?"
"Hm? What?" Her brow rose, pulling down my zipper as she began to get her equipment in the different draws. "Key'mir, don't tell meโ€”" she shifts her body around, "Key."
"What?" I looked around, confused, "I ain't even get to tell you what get, and you assuming and shit."
"You killed the guy?"
"Yes, that's exactly what the fuck I did." I laughed, palms burying my face not releasing what she assumed was right. "How did you know? Ven, Ven?"
"I just know," she sighs, gripping the band aid packet with the tip of my teeth, lifting up my wife beaters I wore under revealing my naked chest. "Hold this."
Accepting the packet, "It won't hurt this time right?" I asked, she nodded making me get lost in her eyes, smiling pleasantly on how she could fix me up, standing there looking like the prettiest girl ever. "You know when I get out, I'm going to be taking you out."
"Out like a date?" I stare at her in obvious, "Oh, you meant like an actual date."
"Yes, bra. Just me and you type shit you know." She smiles, rubbing the alcohol on my wounded areaโ€” I grip onto the white sheets, eyes shut hardly trying to ease through the pain. "Sorry."
"You're not sorry, this hurt cuh!" I spat, accidentally lashing out. Getting cooler down when her warm hands touched mine, trying to reassure me. "Fuck you."
"You can patch yourself up yourself if that's what you want? Shut up key'mir, my lord."
"I'll knock you out right out." I suck my teeth, "I don't really mean that shit though, but you know what I meant."
"Mmm, sure." She rolls her eyes, yet I was still gruntingโ€” trying to hold it in. "Just one more patch than you can your mommy! Okay?" She jokes around, fooling with my current behaviour.
"You think you're funny, huh?"
"I actually do." She says boldly in return, pulling down my shirt notifying she was done. "I've got new medicine for your schizophrenia as well, it's just being processed from the hospital."
"Ion need 'em hoes." I declined, fixing up my shirt slowly. "It doesn't even work, there's no use for the shit Vendetta. I take the pills day and night and expect the voice to stop inside my head, but it doesn't!"
My venting caused her to stare at me in silence, I didn't care though. I just want to let her know that everything she provided me was no use,
Nothing could help me, no one could help me but myself. I felt trapped in my own body and thoughts by previous deaths that are slowly controlling my mind.
"Key. It's okay." Her soft tone beams throughout my ears, causing me to stop my mouth from talking. "Key, look." Vendetta held onto my hands firmly, scooting her seat over so she can seat down.
I listened, travelling my eyes up to hers. "What?" I ask, over it, over this, over everything.
"I'm still here." Her smile rises lowly, "Even if the medication isn't working you know I'm here, right?"
I shrug, not sure. "Your a nurse, isn't that what y'all are supposed to do? To help people, your patients." I laugh, "What's your point Vendetta, just get to it already."
"I know your mad right now Key," Ven scoffs annoyed, letting go of my hands. "But you can't lash out at me, I'm doing everything I can to fucking help you key."
"Well you're not trying harder enough, so I'm not trying to hear that shit, at all."
"You're not trying to?โ€”" She laughs, dropping everything, distancing herself away from me as she rested her back on the door. "I really can't believe you right now. It's just crazy how you think I'm not trying when you're literally a fucking prisoner, you have no life key."
"You low for that shit," I stood up in pain, holding onto the side of my stomachโ€” back of my leg leaning against the side of the bed.
"Oh, so, now I'm low for that shit?" She points to herself, feeling insulted than ever. "I'm low for saying what was right? That you have no life, no future 'cause you fucked it up on your own. You can't blame anyone for your actions except yourself key."
"..." She was right, completely right. I can't get mad at the world because of my problems; problems which I caused on my own at a young age that's finally eating me up,
Slowly. "Okay, I'll shut up. Shush now bra."
"No," Ven continued to lash out, I was starting to think she was trying to avoid and block everything I was trying to say. "You know what, fuck you!"
"You don't mean that." I say calmly, running a hand down my face with a heavy sigh. "Cuh, Vendetta."
"Find yourself a different nurse. One that'll fit your likings on being helpful, bye Key'mir."
