"Is your daughter okay? Your girl straight witchu'?" My thoughts about paco fell curious. I just wanted his family to be okay knowing I failed mine.
Paco nods, replying while we sat around with the other inmates filling our stomachs up, "I'm not on good terms with my girl right now but, everything with my princess is okay."
"Been told you to leave that girl alone. I know I recall that she said that you love your daughter more than herโ€”"
"The delusion." We exchanged laughs as Paco finished what I was intending to say. "Juke's people's are looking for him, you think anyone gon' notice that we were behind it?"
I shook my head. "Nah," gripping tightly onto the fork, chewing on the dry unfavorable mince trying to fill up my stomach. "I'm sure the walls are cemented now."
"The devil gon' teach him a lesson." I dapped Paco up, "Just find it crazy how them puncs were jumping you on some homo shit."
"Woon is next." I suggested, "What he did to that kid, Nas, was wrong man. He deserves justice. And all woon got was spending two months in the box, shit weak."
"Watchu' tryna do na' gang?"
"Y'all handling shit without me?" I already knew Kevo was going to join this conversation, now he'll think that we were trying to cut him off some information.
Which we definitely were.
Teenage minds man, teenage minds.
"I thought I was with the big boys? What I miss my exotic fruit cups?"
"Aw, nah!" Paco throws his cold pees at Kevo with a light chuckle. "Kid, don't you ever call me that gang. Exotic fruit cups? Nah, that got it."
"Kevo thinks this is some underground strip club for the boys. Giving out names out like that and shit, pft." I wave him off, scoffing.
"I wouldn't mind if they ever did some underground strip club." Kevo groans, slouching his back on the chair while his arms where thrown over his head. "Some of the inmates got a behind. A fatty."
I snickered, passing one of my leftover bread to Kevo. "Don't tell me you casually look at these men's assโ€” man Kevo."
"Don't be surprised," Paco adds on beside me, patting my back. "Kevo. I'll give you one hundred if you snatch them panties off Thomas over there."
Paco points, over eyes flew over to where he was glaring at dropping our mouths without closing them, shocked.
Thomas was a white boy, and some of would call him a โ€˜womanโ€™ because that's what he prefers everyone to label him ass. He was one of them gay men everyone clicked with, they didn't care about his sexuality much in here.
Violence towards him wasn't bad, the only reason why he transferred here.
"Double it!" I liked Kevo's attention, he was like a dare devil kid I always wanted. "Double it to four hundred man," Kevo says confidently. "Ima do it."
"Four hundred?" Paco replied with a question. "You want to double it up?" Kevo nods. "Damn, gang gon' be gambling for life this week."
"Valentino! You've got a visitor." I heard my name being called out, saying my goodbyes to the two wondering if Kevo was going to actually do it.
What am I kidding? Of course his going to do it. It's Kevo.

"Mama!" Never in my six years would I think I could see my mother, they always restricted me for seeing her. It was draining.
I only wish that I could hug her right now, and I know if I did I'll get yelled at from every guard in here. Treating me like I'm some inmate on death row.
"My beautiful baby," She squeezes my cheeks, leaving small peck's of kisses all over my face.
My hands were locked together so I couldn't do anything but just stand on the spot, showing my excited emotions to her through facial expressions. "I missed you. Yo'!? I can't believe they let you see me now."
"I know, me too. This girl," Her fingers began to click, trying to remember something that was on her mind. "I forgot her name but she was stunning, and baby her tattoos were so beautiful."
I smile, already knowing who it was. "It was my nurse huh? Well, the prisons nurse but you know what I mean."
She nods, "Yes, her! She told me that she talked to some people about my visitation with you. I didn't know she was going to pull strings like this! Six years baby." Her voice breaks down,
I try to reach my hands towards hers trying to confront her, but the guards never want to see me happy. All I wanted to do was just confront my crying mother right now.
Her emotions are all over the place.
"I'm so happy." I'm happy too mama, but I just need help. "You lost so much weight, you're not eating the food in there?" I shook my head with no words, acting like a child,
"Just know, when you get out. The whole neighbourhood is going to be cooking for you! I'll make sure everyone brings a meal baby."
"You have to invite my nurse as well." She stares at me crazy. "What? She helped you, us. She's family now, right?"
"I wouldn't say family yet because she's only done one thing." She giggles. "But as a friend? Of course I will. You know moonie found herself someone new."
"Who's moonie?" I asked mama, confused. I've heard the name before but don't know where I heard it from, my mind was stuck on ice.
"Your ex baby!" Mama gently taps my forearm. "She doesn't talk about you anymore, or the baby. Matter fact, I think she's trying to erase everything."
"Why would you say that?"
"Because she already has a child, two. Did you know that key?" I didn't know if I wanted to feel sad or angry, my emotions wouldn't come out because my mind still didn't process who this moonie was.
I know I had a daughter but don't remember who the mother really was. Was I tripping? Or is my memories starting to fade away.
"The silence tells me that you didn't, it's okay." She says, clearing her throat. "I asked one of the men that works here if I could take you, for some air in a couple of days."
"You want to take me out?" I point to myself, the thought of the fresh air hitting my nose always excited me.
That feeling of summer, summer in south central where family is around you. That feeling of happiness you'd never thought you'd get in a million years.
Man,
I always dreamt about it but always get bummed out that it never comes out true, dreams don't come true unless you sleep forever there with your eyes closed.
"Yes. They still haven't decided yet, you deserve it. And you deserve to be with family, I'm sure you know that your brother's birthdays coming up. It's been years since he died, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to take you out, key."
"My brother?" I have, a brother?
