"What are you smiling about, fruit cup?" Kevo nudges the side of my forearm trying to get an answer out of me.
I shrugged brushing him off putting away the dirty laundry into the basket handing it over to him. "C'mon key! We gotta know." Paco adds on throwing light punches at me.
"It's really just nothing man, they're saying my condition is getting better."
Even though I know I'm lying to them, I don't want them to keep worrying about me.
And I hope whatever Vendetta threw at me was false information, as much as I try to let it sit in my head thinking it's true, it never budges through.
"My mama said wassup man," Paco says.
I raise a brow, "Oh, word? She misses me huh. I miss her too. Her bad self!"
"I need to see a pic, y'all chattin' about ol' girl like she's pressure. Let a youngin' see gang!" We wave kevo away laughing to ourselves.
I barely listened to the conversation they had, finishing off the folded clothes that needed to be done, "Fuck." My attention got distracted, I knew it was Woon because of his heavy footsteps.
I haven't seen this man in months, I honestly was about to forget about him. I thought he was dead.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't Key'mir. You're still standing on your two feet man? Niggas can't kill you in here huh. You got ten lives or what?" He chuckles making a small joke behind my ear,
"What do you want man? I'm chillin'." I turn myself around to face him, replying.
Woon stood there chuckling, occupying his hands as they rested calmly in his shorts. "I was just seeing how you were. I was in the box for about 2 months now, just seeing how I you movin'."
"Watchu' need Woon? Enough with the games." He obviously needed something from me or needed to tell me shit.
I just couldn't keep talking to Woon anymore for what he did to that kid, and he's standing here in front of my face like everything in the past was just blur to him.
"A little birdy told me you're slipping away, is that true?" I shrug, but there was a small change in him like he cared, like he was concerned. "I'm not going to joke about this, i know you're going through some serious shit man."
"Hmm, who's telling you this though?" I ask, he doesn't respond. He just gazed at me trying to read my mind which was failing for him. "I'm fine, it's probably not true anyways, woon?"
"Do they know?" He nods over towards paco and kevo, i shook my head gazing over at them laughing about playing with the clothes. "You need to tell him before it's too late, i think your timer is going to run out sooner than i thought,"
"If you forget about me, it's okay. Because i want you to forget about the terrible things i've done and caused you." He brings his arms out, attempting to hug me but i still won't forgive him for what he's done. "Good luck, you need it."
"Where's my daughter when i need her." I sigh, telling myself.
Taking one blink of an eye widening my smile when my eyes caught her standing in front of me,
"I'm right here!" Her squeaky voice broke me, it rushed so many past memories in me i never thought i had with her. "Are you okay?" I nod, going down to her level.
I knew she wasn't there, but my mind played a movie in front of me seeming she was actually here, right now, with me. It felt so real because her soft skin touched my palms when i pulled her in my embrace. "I missed you sweetie. I miss you so much."
"Don't cry. That makes me sad," she tells me wiping away the small tear that slid out of my eye.
"Oh, i'm sorry sweetie." I sniff, cupping both hands of her shoulders. "How is it over there? Are you having fun?"
"Yes!" she jumps off her feet, painting her bubbly smile. "I want you here daddy, it's no fun when you are not here! When are you coming? I want to play."
"Soon."
"Soon?" She questions, moving herself closer creating a small frown. "You don't want to play with me anymore?"
She's got the wrong idea, "No, no. I do baby, it's just that i'm struggling with something right now, you understand where daddy is coming from?" She shrugs. "I'll play with you soon, sweetie."
"Mama said that and didn't come. You just don't want to play with me!" I ran a hand down my face regretting that i shut my eyes, I forgot how much headache you can experience from just one child. "Play with me daddy."
"Alright, i'll play with you." And just like that everything felt different, she wasn't there anymore but i knew something was off mentally in my mind.
My head began to hurt out of the blue which weirded me out, it was so confusing really.
Because during this same time right now, there was this ringing noise surrounding my head, clogging my ears. Getting louder every second, it felt like a timer ending soon telling me to wake up from this nightmare but i couldn't.
"Yo'! Paco... Paco?" I laugh lightly, repeating the familiar name that was curled around my tongue. "Paco?"
"What is it? Are you good?" One of the guys that looked familiar says, he felt so comfortable around me the way he was patting my back.
It was odd because i don't remember even meeting with this guy ever, it was strange. "Key, quit the games and c'mon on. We have to go back to our cells. You done, right?"
"He looks high off some booze," Another unfamiliar male says. He looked younger though but seemed so innocent to me in my eyes. "Key'mir, let's go."
He says my name again, and I start to question myself; how do they know my name?
I laugh nervously, "Are we friends or something? Do I know y'all?" They returned confused expressions, squinting their eyes trying to read my mind. "I'm just confused, because y'all are so comfortable around someone you barely know."
"A'ight now," He scoffs with a light laugh. "Did you take your meds today?" The guy, Paco asks with a worried tone, touching my forehead. "Kevo, should we tell 'em to take him to the nurse?"
"He seems fine, he probably is just playing games right now. He'll be fine tomorrow." Kevo shrugs it off, walking out of the room first.
"I'm fine, my head just hurts." I tell him, trying to calm the worry he had for me. I didn't know who he was, but I know he seemed like he was caring for others around him, it was sweet.
"Just let meโ€”" He sighs, dropping his head down on the cement. "I feel like something is off, I'll ask one of the guards to take you to the infirmary."
"Vendetta gon' there, right?" I ask, noticing the smile across he's face was becoming weak. "You do know her, right?"
Paco nods, "Yes... C'mon."

Vendetta smelt sweeter than yesterday; her perfume scent felt like a drug digging in my nose.
I wanted to kiss her all over her body making sure she knew that I was her property.
"Your friends seem worried, you do seem odd right now," I shrug, fluttering my eyes at the bright light she kept beaming on each eye. "Poseidon say's up don't recognise him."
"Who's that?" The light turns odd, my eyes was stuck on hers watching the hard lump she had on her throat laughing it off. "What's funny?"
"Nothing. Do you know someone named Kevo?" I shook my head, "Woon, Nah?" The names just kept going, as much as I kept saying no to every name she spat out of her mouth, I didn't know any of them.
It was like a blur.
"Evangeline." That was the last name she said, I'd admit it did sound familiar. But my tongue couldn't pinpoint who exactly Evangeline is. "Key, she's your mother."
"Huh? Oh! My mother, how is she?" I laugh playing it off, she wasn't lying. Vendetta was telling the truth the whole time.
"She's fine, still planning to take you out."
"When?" I ask her, unfamiliar of this Evangeline. Jeopardising my relationship with Vendetta by this one lie.
I just wanted her to be happy and not worry about it as much, if i die, i want to die peacefully with my daughter.
"She hasn't told me yet, but i know it's going to be soon." She smiles, "I feel like you want to tell me something the way you are glaring at me right now."
"You look beautiful today, that's all." She cheeses trying to hide the small blush i caused her to express. "And smell sweeter, new perfume?"
She nods, "Yeah, new perfume. Do you like it?"
"Nah, feel like you're trying to impress someone else in these walls. Who he is?" I was clearly lying, i loved the new smell, it was addicting.
"Boy, nobody but you!"
"Oh, a'ight. You're lucky girl. But guess what?" Her brow raises up. "I talk to my daughter today."
"Really? That's good. How is she?" She asks, moving away the small blanket on the bed seating herself down.
"She's good. She wanted me to play with me, and i told her i'll play with her today."
She pushes her eyebrows together. "What does she mean by that? Like, you and her playing?"
"I don't actually know, i told her i will but i don't know when. Maybe when i'm dreaming? Maybe." I say feeling her interlock her hands with mine. "I'm fine Ven, i told you i'll help you fix me. Don't worry about it."
"Key...why do i feel like i'm going to lose you sooner." Her smile fades away, she looks downhearted right now. "Why do i feel like you are going to die in your sleep?"
"I'm not, quit tripping." And honestly, i was scared. I could lose my memory with everyone that i love and die inside of a prison.
I'm scared.
