ALPHA TRISTAN’S POV
She knew about my mom’s involvement with the dark witches…
“Not shocking. Everybody knew about that and it’s the reason dark witches were expelled from the realm.” Dolf seethed within me.
But what she knew was more than what everyone else knew. Truly, my mom tried to possess the dark powers so she could use it herself. She went as far as drafting out the steps she’d take and how she would use the power if they were given to her. I still have those drafts in my library.
However, the witches believed that my mom was too weak to possess and channel the powers which was why she wasn’t initiated into their coven.
“You can’t seriously be considering her gibberish, Tris. This witch killed Fiona, Katie, Kyle, and Jessica. She took their lives. You know they would have returned to us if they were still alive-”
As if Lorraine could hear my wolf’s argument, she rasped, her voice low, hiding her pain yet revealing it, “You said Fiona was the key but she is dead. I can be the key you need, Alpha Tristan.”
Dolf let out a fierce growl as Lorraine’s words resonated through the torture room. My wolf expressed his emotions but I tried to be logical.
I cared about Fiona and the twins. I loved them and looked forward to a future where we could be a lovely and powerful family but now that they are gone, I have to make my plans what they are- Priorities.
I shouldn’t give up.
While Fiona was a pure white wolf who would have helped me gain powers just by mating with her, Lorraine was a dark one and I wouldn’t have to mate with her to have access to her powers. I could just make her my puppet.
“These rituals that you speak of, how do you intend to get them done? What materials will you need?” I found myself asking despite my wolf’s displeasure.
Lorraine smiled, “I can’t tell you that unless we have a deal.” She looked me in the eyes as she asked, “Do we have a deal?”
“It depends,” I answered, using the knife in my hand to trace her skin. She sucked in a sharp breath when the knife move down to her waist but I ignored her as I said, “What’s in it for you? What sacrifices would I have to make for us to win together like you said.”
“For me, Lucas would be defeated and I would get to avenge my parents. I’d also like to be in charge of Crescent Pack. It would be my little trophy-”
“I can’t give you Crescent Pack,” I interjected. “It will be my trophy, witch.”
Lorraine’s brows furrowed but he quickly hid her dissatisfaction. She knew to tread carefully. After all, she was the one tied to a table and I was the one holding a knife. I came into this room to draw blood from her and make her feel the same pain I had been enduring as I couldn’t stop thinking about Fiona…
“But here you are trying to cut a deal? Do you know how stupid and desperate this makes you?” Dolf seethed.
If Lorraine goes scot-free, my wolf would hate me, and I’d most likely hate myself as well, but if she has something to offer, she can be Fiona’s dark replacement. She’d never have my heart, but she could become the key.
Lorraine took me by surprise when she, “I guess it wouldn’t matter who Crescent belongs to after we win because we would become one.”
I frowned, “What does that mean?”
“For me to attain full power like I believe you will want, I have to mate with a strong Alpha,” Lorraine stated blatantly.
I hissed, “I’d never mate with you. You are a witch who I will be sparing just because of your powers. Don’t push your luck-”
“I’m not, Alpha Tristan. I’m simply telling you the truth. Why do you think witches fight to death to mate with the strongest wizards in their coven? If you want everything I have to offer, we have to create a mate bond and complete it. If you can’t do that, find me a strong Alpha who is willing to mate with me and still let you benefit from my power.” Lorraine etched, wearing the same smirk that pushed me to slap her the other day.
But this time, I couldn’t slap her.
Not because she had suddenly become important to me but because I realized that there was no way I’d find an Alpha who would mate with her and still let me have full control of her.
It was at this moment that it clicked in my head- Fiona and Lorraine were the same.
Mating with Lorraine would make me powerful. How could Lucas have let two women who could make him even more powerful go? How could he be so careless with his assets?
“Tristan!” Dolf yelled at me.
“Now isn’t the time to be emotional, Dolf. it’s sad to accept but yes, Fiona is gone and so are the kids. It’s high time I move on with my life…. With my plans.” I said to my wolf before blocking him.
If I were to do this with Lorraine, I’d have to subdue Dolf to avoid fighting a constant internal battle with him.
But that would put me at a disadvantage. I could lose my strength and become less of who I had become over the years.
“What do you say, Alpha Tristan? Will you kill me now or will you make me yours completely? Not as a prisoner but as a mate and an ally? Lorraine asked me.
With Fiona gone, the answer was quite simple and the word rolled off my tongue, I could see the future my parents fought so hard to create. “The mating ritual will be held tomorrow. Prepare yourself, witch.”
I started walking away from Lorraine after I agreed to her terms but she called out to me, “Won’t you release me? I’d like to have a fresh bath and get away from this room.”
“Not so fast, witch. Mating with you doesn’t change the fact that you are a criminal. You still have to pay for crossing me and killing my pack members. Get comfortable because this is still your room.” I clarified and slammed the door shut, ignoring the way my heart cried for another woman.
God, Fiona…
