Fiona
As I watched my past self interact with Tristan, anger rose like a bile in my throat. I hated myself for crying and I swore to myself that I’d bring Dolf’s fear to life… Tristan’s plan will backfire because not only has he trained me in combat, but he has also helped me find myself.
I was a blunt knife but with his help, I had become sharp.
Also, with the help of the white wolves I have somehow reconnected with, I’ll break free from whatever he did to me and- Speaking of that, how did he manage to feed me the concoction every month without my knowledge? I didn’t recall taking any such thing from him willingly. I have also been in Crescent Pack for almost two months without Tristan. Why have the effects not worn off?
I asked Susanna and she muttered to me, “Hold on tight. I’ll be taking you through the memory lane and you will get to see how he achieved his goals. It would be fast. Try not to get overwhelmed.”
I didn’t take her warning seriously until the hospital room vanished, various scenes with Tristan flashed before my eyes like I was in a cinema and the movie I was seeing was titled Chronicles of Evil, staring no one else but the deceptive Alpha of Black Fur Pack.
By paying attention to as many scenes as I could, I realized that Tristan usually gives me the dosage through fluids. It could be a juice box that he randomly gave to me during training sessions or a bottle of water that was given to me by him or someone else.
I also saw him mixing it with my food and there were occasions when he injected it into my body with the help of a healer during my visits to the hospital for warriors’ regular checkups. The most shocking scene was seeing Hazel in the apartment we occupied in Crescent and she mixed the same content in my food as she spoke to Tristan on the same phone she claimed Was Jessica’s.
“Hazel too?” I was so close to crying again but seeing how I was toyed with fueled my anger.
Hazel was my best friend. The one person that I trusted even with my kids. Finding out she was with Tristan broke my heart. Tristan couldn’t have manipulated her like he did with me but her betrayal stung. Even Tristan could have broken me as much as Hazel did.
Could Jessica have been a betrayal too?
“No, not Jess… Please don’t show Jess.”
I pleaded as more scenes flashed before my eyes. Thankfully, I didn’t see Jessica and while that couldn’t prove that she wasn’t involved in another way, I was thankful still. At least one person from the past six years of my life should be real.
Tristan and Hazel.
They did all that and I never noticed. Frankly, I wouldn’t have known if the accident didn’t stop me from going back to Black Fur.
“I would have married him,” I whispered unable to hold back my anger. Thinking back to Hazel, I let out, “I thought she was my best friend. I loved her.”
I felt my hands slipping out of Susanna’s grasp and she chimed, “Hold on tight, Fiona. You can get lost here if I’m not holding your hand. We don’t want that to happen.” I nodded before she informed me, “At one point, he fell in love with you but he never fully accepted it. It has always been about revenge for him and using you, mating with you and absorbing your energy was his intention. Your friend-”
“Then that isn’t love.” I countered. “It’s a twisted narcissistic feeling and I am done with that. He and Lorraine will pay for what they did to me and my kids.”
How about Hazel? I thought sadly despite stopping Susanna from speaking about her as I was scared of what her words would make me realize.
“Oh, you might want to focus your energy because as of today, your enemies have become one,” Susanna announced with a sad face.
My heart shattered into pieces as I asked, “How did they become one? Are you trying to tell me that Lorraine has been working with Tristan all this while?”
Just like Hazel?
Perhaps that was why Tristan didn’t reach out to me when I needed his help to heal Kyle.
“I should show you rather than tell you,” Susanna stated. “Hold on tight. We are going to the present and it won’t be a comfy ride.”
Like a puff, the world around me disappeared and I stumbled into a new one. The place was familiar but I had no memory of it. “Why are people gathered in the Black Fur’s grand hall?”
“Alpha Tristan is getting married, I suppose,” Susanna answered just in time for me to see Tristan and his bride. Using the word livid would make what I felt at that moment a joke.
