ALPHA TRISTAN’S POV
I knew what I had to do yet I couldn’t bring myself to do it. After the mating Ritual, all I had to do was complete the ritual by being intimate with Lorraine but I had never seen myself in bed with her.
Fiona was the only woman who had caught my attention like that. She was the one I yearned to take to bed, make love to, mark, and hold in my arms.
It has always been Fiona.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss her or that I haven’t been thinking about what life would have been if she was the one I got married to… the one I made my Luna, instead of the witch I had to settle for.
Dolf had also stopped talking to me ever since I tied the knot with Lorraine and I could only imagine what would happen to us if I took the next step and mated with her-
“Alpha…” Louis’s voice resonated, disrupting my thoughts as he entered my home office.
I sighed, “What now, Louis?”
I presumed he was here to disturb me like he had been doing these past few days. He has tried to get me out of my shell since the grand mating ritual ceremony. “I have news about Crescent Pack-” Louis began.
But I quickly interrupted him, my eyes widening and hope fluttering in my soul, “What news? Did Lucas find them? Is she alright? The twins?”
I fired those questions, jolting off my seat without thinking about how complicated my life would become if Fiona showed up alive. Maybe that didn’t cross my mind because I’d gladly have Fiona back and shut Lorraine up forever.
It would be as if Lorraine and I never agreed to join forces-
“I’m sorry, Alpha but what I have to say doesn’t concern Warrior Lia or the twins.” Louis interrupted. “They are dead. Although their bodies haven’t been found, you’ve to accept that they are dead and move on. We need you to move on, Alpha.”
“What about Crescent Pack is worth telling me if it doesn’t concern Fiona and the kids?” I found myself snapping even though I knew that Louis was right.
Louis cleared his throat, a smile stretching on his face as he announced, “I heard that the pack is vulnerable at the moment, Alpha. Last week, Alpha Lucas left the pack in the hands of his Beta whom he had tortured a few days prior, and as well all know, the pack Gamma has been arrested which meant their military is disorganized. This is the time to strike-”
With interest, I cut Louis’s words short, “How about the plan we have? We have to capture Clinton’s pack first-”
“We don’t have to stick to that plan anymore, Alpha.” Louis stopped me before I could finish as well, earning a deep growl from me. He bowed his head, apologized, and continued speaking, “Alpha Lucas hasn’t returned to his pack in over a week. No one has heard from him which means we can seize his pack first before taking Alpha Clinton’s.”
If that were the case, I wouldn’t have to mate with Lorraine. After all, the only reason I performed the ritual with her was because I wanted access to her powers. If Lucas isn’t in the way, I wouldn’t need Lorraine…. I wouldn’t have to sleep with her nor mark her.
That was a good development.
“I know you like sticking to plans, Alpha, but this time, we can have it easy. Take over his pack and have him killed without breaking a sweat.” Louis said, referring to Lucas.
Despite the advantages Louis had taken upon himself to outline, I hated making changes to my plan. It was a perfect plan until I knew Lucas was Fiona’s ex-mate. Until Fiona didn’t come back home… Until I married Lorraine…
Making any change to my perfect plan might just come back to bite me in the ass…
I held that thought as I said to Louis, “I’ll sleep on it and let you know in the morning.”
Louis nodded and he chimed, “I noticed you haven’t been eating well so I asked the pack chef to make your favorite meal.” My Beta walked back to the door, opened it, and ushered the chef into my office.
“I’m not hungry-”
Louis countered, “He made use of warrior Lia’s recipe.”
I inhaled sharply, hating my Beta’s nerves but at the same time, I couldn’t say no to anything that reminded me of Fiona. The way she used to cook for me and bring it to my home even though she lived in the pack house, far from mine.
The Pack’s chef walked up to my table and dropped the food tray he was holding, saying, “Chicken curry and steamed rice, Alpha. I hope you enjoy it.”
Before I could say anything to either of them, they left. I forced myself to have a taste of the curry. It was well cooked and tasty but it didn’t come close to Fiona’s chicken curry. No one could make it like she does.
Regardless of that, I managed to consume half of the rice portion and devoured the chicken curry. Afterward, I yawned, feeling relaxed for the first time since the accident that claimed the lives of my loved ones.
“I should move on,” I said to myself as I left my office, heading to my room.
The rest of the world might have assumed that I had moved on already since I married Lorraine but Fiona-
“Hey Tristan…” Her melodious voice caused my steps to halt.
My eyes found her flawless face and my heart raced, skipping two beats, “A-Fiona?”
I couldn’t believe my eyes. She was right there in my room… in my bed.
“Is that really you?” I questioned, staggering towards her even though I was certain I wasn’t drunk.
“Yes, Tristan. Come to me.” She voiced softly, melting every bit of sadness and uncertainty I had been feeling in her absence.
I went to her… held her and smelled her like my life depended on it.
Gosh, how I fancy this woman…
