                    ALPHA TRISTAN’S POV
Anger was the only emotion I had been feeling for the entire week. It was zapping through me and eating me up, leaving no space for any other feeling or thought. I felt disgusted and couldn’t look at myself in the mirror-
“But you still enjoyed the sex.” Dolf scoffed.
My wolf had become the biggest opponent I had to deal with but the feeling of betrayal was bigger than the tension between my wolf and me.
“Oh, you feel betrayed?” Dolf chuckled with mockery. “I wonder what Fiona would be feeling_”
“She is dead, Dolf! She died. She can’t feel nothing.” I snapped at my wolf.
As if it wasn’t bad enough that I have been a mess since I woke up in my bedroom with a smile on my face and with the assumption that I had just made love to Fiona, only to open my eyes and find Lorraine snoring softly and peacefully in my bed … In my fucking arms.
As if it wasn’t bad enough that I actually enjoyed the sex with her…
In my defense, I thought she was Fiona.
Throughout the steamy and passionate moments, I could only see Fiona, perceive Fiona, and think of Fiona.
However, to my dismay, Fiona remained dead in the morning, and Lorraine- Fuck!
I have had enough.
It’s high time I decided what to do with Lorraine and Louis who have proven to be a green snake in the greenest of grass. I had Louis locked in the dungeons after I discovered that he plotted with Lorraine to-
“You can’t hurt her. She’s now our mate. As much as I hate that, you already marked her, and breaking the bond would not only drive you crazy, it’ll weaken us. Becoming a weak ass Alpha has to be one of your biggest fear-”
“Just leave me the fuck alone, Dolf. Please.” I snapped at my wolf, hating the fact that he was right about everything. Dolf has always been right but I had never listened to him… yet, I wasn’t planning to start now.
“Snapping at me won’t help you out of this mess, Tristan. We both know the only reason you have refused to see Lorraine since you had her locked up in her room is because you know what will happen-”
Before Dolf could finish that statement, I blocked him out of my mind and angrily, I left my office for the first time since I shut everyone out after dealing with the issue in the best way I could that day.
I stormed to the dungeon, intending to condemn Louis to the punishment he truly deserved for stabbing me in the back… for going behind my back and becoming less of the Beta I knew him to be.
I ignored every other person I came across as I let my senses take me to Louis’s cell. I found him chained to the wall of the dark cell. He was sitting on the floor, his chained hands hanging loosely on both sides and his legs were stretched out, chains spreading them out.
Although the window in the cell was small and there was no light, I could see his features clearly. It took Louis a few minutes before he realized that I was standing before his cell and in inhaled harshly as realization struck him.
“Alpha…” Louis muttered.
He still had the audacity to speak to me.
“How would you like to die?” That was the only question I had for him.
Despite the one wrong move he made with Lorraine, his service to me and the pack as the Beta could not be ignored. He was a good one until he wasn’t.
“I don’t want to die, Alpha.” Louis’s voice was barely a whisper but I heard him loud and clear and his words infuriated me. “I want to live and be your Beta-”
“You should have thought of that before you fed me drugs and made me mark a woman I didn’t desire. She marked me for fuck’s sake!” I snapped, letting out my anger for the first time since realization sank into me that morning.
I marked Lorraine…
And I let her mark me while I was hallucinating.
She practically owned me and I hated that.
“I was wrong but I did what I thought was right for you and the pack, Alpha.” Louis sounded unapologetic and I seethed, seeing red.
“Who are you to decide?” I snapped, wanting nothing more than to enter his cell and beat the shit out of him until he drops dead but I forgot to take the key from the warder at the front gate.
“I’m your Beta,” Louis answered, his voice surprisingly louder. “You can’t deny that you have been a mess these past few months, Alpha. You have become weaker and more emotional. That isn’t you. Lia was getting to you and you lost focus until you made that deal with the witch. Yet you wouldn’t even go ahead to seize the power she could offer if you complete the mating ritual.”
As Louis spoke, my blood boiled.
“My duty as your Beta is to support you but I also have to push you when needed, Alpha and that’s exactly what I did. I pushed you and even though I’m sorry you feel betrayed, I’m not sorry for doing what’s right for every one of us…. For the future, we have both dreamt of many times.”
Louis didn’t stop talking and as much as I wanted to crush him, I allowed him. He would be dying in any moment from now, he might as well say his last words.
“I know you won’t forgive me but I want you to know that this revenge isn’t yours alone. My parents were killed by the same people that killed yours. I lost my family too and the majority of Black Fur members suffered a loss as well because we supported your parents’ ambition. What exactly did we gain from that?” Louis asked rhetorically.
He continued, “We gained nothing, Alpha and now that we can finally gain something, you are backing out all because a woman with no clear background died. This is our dream, you can’t give up. We have to win this war and even if I can no longer serve by your side, I hope you will stop holding back and move forward with the plans we have in place.”
Louis’s last words left me speechless and I could no longer concentrate on anger, not when he concluded his outpour of emotion with, “It was nice being your trusted and competent Beta while it lasted.”
