Fiona
“Much better. You are almost as good as new.” Mia Lu applauded.
I gasped, panting due to shortness of breath, “Really?”
“Hmm hmm…” Mia Lu confirmed to me. “Your heart is almost healed and you are almost ready to use your spiritual energy.”
The excitement I felt initially kinda died as the word almost became less satisfying. Almost wasn’t enough anymore. I wanted to be able to do things like everyone else. I wanted to start training fully but as it is, I’ve to focus on opening myself to the spiritual energy Tristan was hell bent on blocking for his own benefit.
“What do I do to be ready? Why is my heart healing as slow as a snail and can’t I practice healing tricks or seer’s abilities with the current level of my spiritual force?” I asked Mia Lu.
“I suppose you can but you will be drained before you can master even the simplest tricks and we are not sure if you are a seer or a spiritual guardian like me.” Mia Lu stated as she replied. “The spiritual shield your wolf created to protect you and the kids from the explosion is similar to the one that keeps the pack hidden, Fiona. You could be a seer, a guardian, or even a mender. We’ve to be sure before-”
“I don’t think I’m a Mender. I couldn’t even heal my friend who put herself in danger to save my son.” I muttered as sadness crept into me as I remembered Jessica.
She was the only real friend I had ever had. I realized that after seeing Hazel for who she really was.
“Don’t give room for sadness, Fiona. Even if you happen to be a Mender, you will be taught that you can’t some cases are beyond you. Take your time, open yourself to possibilities and you will fit into whoever you were born to be.” Mia Lu patted my shoulder.
Why does it feel like Mia Lu was trying to change my mind? I mean, I have seen visions before. I knew I was a Seer but Mia Lu-
“Stop thinking or she’ll hear you doubting her guidance, Relia,” Inara warned me. “I agree with you that Mia Lu might have secrets just like Susanna and Lucas but we can trust them and that’s all that matters.”
I didn’t get the chance to digest my wolf’s words when Mia Lu etched, “His eyes have been on you since we started the process, Fiona. His thoughts about you are also very loud despite the distance between us.”
Blinking rapidly, I feigned ignorance, “W-who?”
I’ve been feeling the heat of his gaze on me while I embrace the wind and try to relax in the open field just like Mia Lu taught me. Mia Lu assured me that this was one way to become one with the energy of the realm but with Lucas staring at me, I wasn’t so sure about that.
“He calls this process dancing with the wind.” Mia Lu laughed, moving swiftly with the wind despite her old age… and of course, she didn’t bother to answer my question. I bet she could see through me.
“Befitting name if you ask me.” I dropped my acting as there was no point pretending.
“I can’t argue.” Mia Lu laughed again.
We both continued dancing with the wind but a silly idea popped into my head and I blurted it out before my logical sense could kick against it. “Can you tell me what he’s currently thinking about? I mean, since you can hear him, I-”
“I can’t help you, child.” Mia Lu interjected without hearing me out.
“But knowing what he thinks of me would help me find peace and take the next step, Mia Lu. I need to know what goes through his mind before I lose my sanity.” I tried to convince her.
However, Mia Lu looked at me and said, “How would you feel if I stole your thoughts for the purpose of telling him how you feel about him?”
“He knows how I feel about it so he wouldn’t-”
“Does he know?” One of her brows hit her forehead as she asked me.
My heart throbbed and I avoided Mia Lu’s gaze. “Of course he does. He knows I hate him and don’t want to be around him.”
“Says the woman who couldn’t sleep while he was sick.” She chimed.
I groaned yet pleaded, “Mia Lu-”
“All I can tell you is, you know how he feels. I believe he has told you a couple of times.” She cut in. “He loves you and he’s sorry. Care to tell me why you can’t forgive him?”
“I can’t forgive him because he can’t change the past. I had a past full of trauma because he let himself be manipulated by a witch. I had to raise my kids alone and fall into the manipulating hands of Alpha Tristan-”
“That’s not fair, child.” Mia Lu stated. “You said he let himself be manipulated by a witch even though we can’t control how a witch’s power affects us. You blamed him even though he was also a victim of ill fate but you didn’t blame yourself for getting manipulated by a man you willingly accepted to be with. Tristan didn’t have witch power yet you let yourself be manipulated. Lucas is no saint but you aren’t either, Fiona.”
That was more than a slap in the face for me.
I stopped dead in my tracks, failing to move with the wind as it drew on me that I had just been called out.
Mia Lu practically called me a hypocrite and I couldn’t deny it.
In fact, I couldn’t think of a response not even when Lucas’s voice tickled my eardrums, sounding very close.
“Hey, Fiona. Can I have a word?” He asked me.
That was when I realized that Mia Lu had excused herself and I was alone with the man who I had been avoiding because of what being close to him does to my heart.
