ALPHA RAIDEN
I enjoyed every second with Katie and Kyle. I bathed them and brought out my first set of gifts which was a light blue ball gown for Katie and a nice brown two-piece for Kyle. My Mom helped me pick out these gifts and the twins loved it.
“You look like a real princess, Katie,” Kyle exclaimed, placing his small hands over his mouth as he stared at his sister who was teaching me how to style her hair the way she likes it.
Katie pouted, “I want to be a strong warrior instead but I can be a princess for today.”
I quickly chirped in for clarity’s sake, “Who says you can’t be both, darling? You can be the strongest Warrior Princess in the realm. It’s okay to love dresses even as a warrior, baby.”
Katie’s eyes twinkled, “Really? I thought warriors couldn’t be princesses. Tristan used to-”
“Princesses can be warriors and you are my princess, baby.” I cut in before she could say any other word about Tristan.
He shouldn’t be brought up today. Not on my watch.
“Alpha Princess Katie Flockhart and Alpha Prince Kyle Flockhart Of Crescent Pack,” I muttered with the biggest smile and my kids lightened up like a bulb.
Of course, Katie told me that I didn’t say their names correctly, and at that time, I assumed she was referring to the last name I used but I later realized her complaint was about her and Kyle’s second name which I omitted.
I freshened up as well before leaving my hut with the kids, all dressed up and ready for a party that should be starting soon. “Mama, look at me!” Kyle yelled happily as he ran over to Fiona who was all sweaty.
Fiona didn’t disappoint him. She matched his excitement, jumping around him with a red ribbon in her hand. “Aren’t you a charming little man, Kyle Anthony?”
I watched my son’s cheeks turn red just as Fiona gasped when she sighted Katie who was still holding two of my fingers, Katie Anne, look at you…”
“I’m a princess today, Mom.” Katie laughed, doing a small twirl.

Fiona’s eyes brimmed with tears as she muttered, “You’ve always been my princess and you’ll always be. I wish I could hug my little Prince and Princess but Mama is yucky at the moment.”
It was at that moment that her eyes fell on me. I could have sworn that she checked me out but the tears in her eyes made me doubt that. Fiona held my gaze and murmured, “Thank you for taking care of them.”
“I’m just getting started,” I replied sincerely before Katie and Kyle jogged off to join the other kids under the fancy canopy that Otis and I spent hours putting in place. I asked Fiona, “What can I help with? You need to freshen up as well.”
“I’ll do that soon. I just need to finish decorating before the party-”
“Go ahead, Fiona. I’ll finish up here.” I insisted even though she said I would get sweats on my outfit.
She mouthed, “Thank you.”
I took over but my eyes remained on Fiona as she walked towards her hut. I raised my voice a bit as I said to her, “I left a bag of clothes in your hut. I thought it’s high time you stopped wearing Susanna’s clothes.”
She stopped dead in her tracks, her back tensing up before she turned around to look at me but I quickly turned my back to her, pretending not to feel her gaze on me and knowing that she would be speechless.
That brought a smile to my face.
It was hard to determine when she would be ready to leave the hidden pack but I could at least make sure she was comfortable here and getting her new clothes was the first step I made.
Otis had to help me put my jaw from the floor when Fiona stepped out wearing a simple blue dress that matched Katie’s gown and throughout the party, I couldn’t keep my eyes off her. I was so in love with the way she carried herself, with her aura, and with all of her.
I was in love.
“You are drooling.” Otis made fun of me but I teased him right back as he also couldn’t stop looking at Susanna.
The kids danced after Mia Lu led a ritual for Katie and Kyle, everyone ate and soon, it was time to present gifts to the celebrants.
My mom stepped out first with two fancy boxes which she must have brought from my pack. She handed the first one to Katie, saying, “This belonged to your great grandma, my mother and she was a white wolf just like most people here. She gave it to me and now, I’m passing it to you.”
“Thank you, grandma.” Katie beamed, tearing the gift open. She took out a silver locket from the box and gasped in awe, “It’s beautiful.”
“Not as beautiful as you.” My mom chimed and faced Kyle. “This is for you, Kyle. I know you are a smart one and I’d like to gift you your first journal. I hope you like it.”
“I love it! I can write my discoveries and plan out my day.” Kyle said to my mom after taking his new black journal out of the box.
Other gift items were presented by members of the pack while Fiona and I helped the twins organize their gifts. I noticed Fiona’s discomfort and I figured she didn’t have a material gift for the twins. So I decided to step up for both of us.
“Happy birthday once again.” I started. “Although your mom and I don’t have our gifts here yet, I’d like to show you pictures of what the gifts look like.”
Andrew had helped me make plans and I had pictures with me thanks to him. From the excitement on their faces, I could only hope I wouldn’t disappoint Kyle and Katie. I pulled two pictures from a folder that my mom had held onto on my behalf.
I revealed the first one to Kyle and he looked confused as his eyes scanned the picture. Quickly I started explaining, “This is the architectural plan of the personal library your mom and I will be building for you as your sixth birthday gift. You will see it better when we return home.”
Kyle jumped into my arms, saying “Thank you” at the top of his voice. He ran to a dumbfounded Fiona and I knew she would tear me apart for not informing her about my plans.
Oh, dear goddess. I was in trouble.
“What do you have for me, Dad?” Katie asked excitedly after witnessing her brother’s happiness.
Knowing I would step on Fiona’s already swollen tail, I muttered carefully, showing Katie the second picture, “This is for you. From Mom and Dad.”
“A sword? A real Sword?” Katie’s eyes widened.
“Hmm mm.” I nodded, “You will get it when we return home and you can start training properly to become a warrior princess.”
“Cool…” Katie exclaimed joyfully.
It wasn’t so cool after the party ended later in the evening and Fiona yanked me off to a quiet place. She barked like a wounded wolf, “A sword? You can’t give her a sword!”
Here we go again with the fight and the sword was just an opening to a bigger issue.
