“He’s right. Moving into Crescent Pack will protect everyone and we can learn to become even more powerful physically.” I voiced in support of Lucas.
I knew he was stunned by the way his body tensed behind me. He didn’t expect me to back him up, not after I called him a manipulator the last time he mentioned returning to his pack.
“So we are supposed to trust him with the lives of our people?”
I rolled my eyes and everyone else in the hut groaned, shutting Jeremy up.
Mia Lu sighed as she started speaking our minds, “For once, Jeremy can you just stop? Alpha Lucas just tried to expatiate the same point you were making and he suggested a solution but you are against him? I know your intentions are pure, child but this negativity you hold in your chest has to go.”
Jeremy grumbled but he didn’t dare make a comeback.
Mia Lu shook her head before looking at Lucas and me. She sighed, “We appreciate your offer, Alpha Lucas and we will have a meeting to decide if we would be accepting it or not.”
I believe Mia Lu wanted to inform all the elders and every other adult in the pack so they could all have a say or vote. I respected that and nodded in agreement. “I hope I can have a vote too because I’m a white wolf and I don’t want to lose the new family that I just found.”
“You can have a vote, Fiona but you need to rest now. We need you to see more details that might help us decide but you can’t do that in this shape.” Lori said to me and I knew it was time to go to my room.
“In case I don’t get to attend the meeting, I vote we all move to Lucas’s pack,” I murmured before letting Lucas lead me out of the purifying hut.
He was so gentle with me and I could see myself turning into a fragile flower that only he could handle. I came with thorns though.
“So now you are his flower? Since when?” Inara mocked me, laughing louder with every step I took towards my hut. “He does know how to handle you, even when you flare out like a witch.”
My wolf had a good time laughing at me and I tried to hold my tongue till I got to the room but running into Katie and Kyle meant I had to use my tongue. “Hey, babies.”
Kyle frowned while his sister blurted, “Are you okay, Mom?”
They looked worried sick. That wasn’t a surprise as I have given them a few scares these past few days. The twins have seen me jump in my sleep and get dizzy a few times. “Mama is fine, Katie.”
“You don’t look fine, Mama.” Kyle countered, calling me a liar with his eyes.
Their little feet rushed after Lucas and me as we entered the hut and despite the smile on my face, my babies looked at me like I was a smiling ghost.
Thankfully, Iris came to my rescue, “You both Know your mom has been training hard these past few days. She needs to rest so she can get stronger and smile a lot less like the one she has on right now. Can you both go play outside and later tonight you both can sleep with grandma in her hut.”
“Okay. See you when you have a better smile, Mama.” Kyle raised his voice a bit before running out of the room with Katie who chuckled like a silly duck.
“Silly Duck.” I didn’t know when I let out those two words and Lucas chortled as he helped me get into bed.
“She’s just as silly as her father was when he was younger,” Iris announced with a chuckle of her own,
Lucas cautioned, “Mom.”
Iris drew two fingers over her lips as her way of telling Lucas that she was done talking about his childhood. I laughed hard enough to forget my worries and Iris began to heal me. I stared at Lucas who sat beside me and didn’t stop staring until my eyes closed, my mind shutting down for the first time in days.
A peaceful sleep.
Lori could mend me but even she couldn’t put me to sleep like Iris did.
I woke up feeling refreshed and I thought I was ready for anything as my eyes fluttered open but the second Isaw Lucas asleep on a chair beside my bed, his head resting on the small place beside my body and his hand holding mine tightly, I knew I wasn’t ready to wake up from this relaxing sleep.
His long eyelashes made me smile and his parted lips reminded me of the look in his eyes when he asked to kiss me.
Plus the day he confessed his love.
At that moment, he wasn’t the guy who broke my heart many years ago, he was just the man who slept by my bad and held my hand.
He was just a regular man but in love with me.
And I yearned to love him back.
Maybe it was a dream and just for the sake of its continuality, I closed my eyes once again and drifted deeper into a dream where I was happy, whole, and in love with a certain Alpha.
But one thing about dreams, they end when we wake up and I had to wake up.
“I thought you would like to eat. It’s been hours since my mom put you to sleep.” Lucas said to me after shaking me awake.
I woke up to him holding a tray of food. I thanked him and he watched me eat like I’d choke on it.
I was living the dream-
“Who said dreams can become reality if we choose to make it one?” Inara said in addition to my thoughts about dreams.
I hummed in agreement, knowing that all I had to do was choose Lucas.
Here is to choosing Lucas…
