Fiona
We met with Iris in the pack’s general dining hall where the pack usually comes together to dine on special occasions such as the arrival of other packs to participate in the games; the reason I returned to the pack in the first place.
I thought I was stupid for coming here with my kids after a series of events. I thought I was better off staying in Black Fur but now I knew better.
The moon goddess has a twisted way of making me suffer only to make me tougher and happier. I was happier now that I knew better, now that I knew who Tristan really was, and why my journey through life had to happen the way it did.
I probably wouldn’t have tapped into my abilities If Lorraine hadn’t bewitched my man and made me leave. I most likely wouldn’t have known why Lucas turned out to be a nightmare of a mate if I hadn’t returned to Crescent.
Also, I wouldn’t be enlightened spiritually if my crazy journey didn’t lead me to the white wolves even though Lorraine thought she had eliminated me as a threat.
In short, life was getting better and fate was beginning to look like my friend in disguise-
“Except it’s an enemy who plans to take Lucas’s life.” Inara reminded me of what the future holds.
“Not now, Please. Not when he is so close to me and I’m facing his mother.” I cautioned my wolf, swallowing the fear like I have been doing since I woke up next to Lucas this morning.
Iris looked between Lucas and me before she blurted, facing her son, “You keep sneaking behind my back with her but you haven’t relieved me of the duties you forced on me by not making her your Luna. I’m getting old, Lucas and the pack need its rightful Luna.”
“First, I’m not sneaking around, Mom. Fiona and I are trying to revive our bond and we are taking it slow. Secondly, I didn’t make you do anything. Why do women always accuse me of such.” Lucas answered his mother, obviously referring to Lorraine subtly.
I chipped in, “I also can’t be the rightful Luna. Lucas and I are still not-”
“But you are the destined Luna and I need to rest. Whether you agree or not, you will be taking over the Luna’s duties, starting with organizing the dinner that will be happening tonight.” Iris countered.
“But I don’t know anything about how to organize a party,” I exclaimed.
If she had told me to organize a training session, I wouldn’t have had any issues but a party. I haven’t done that before.
“Then you will have to learn from Zealina and the rest of the servants.” Iris shrugged.
Lucas questioned, “What will you be doing if you don’t plan the party you suggested, Mom?”
“Oh, child. I’ll be enjoying myself. I will pick out and dress and also have a play date with my grandchildren. A woman my age can do a lot of things.” Iris retorted and walked away to get Katie and Kyle who had been jumping from one corner of the hall to another.
Lucas and I shared a look and even though a part of me finally felt like I would be using around here, I was scared I would mess things up and there would be an issue at the party.
“I swear I had nothing to do with that. She told me we should organize a dinner party and I agreed because of its benefits-”
“It’s alright, Lucas. I’m happy to step in and organize the party.” I assured him.
He stuttered, scratching his forehead nervously, “How about stepping in as Luna? Someone has to-”
“I can do that as well,” I said because I didn’t want Lucas to worry about anything, not when he has to oversee the training as he doesn’t have a gamma at the moment and the war could break out any moment.
He stepped in front of me and took my hands, “I just don’t want to pressure you, Fiona. I know you need time to accept all of these and I’m willing to wait-”
“Relax, Lucas. I can be a Luna without feeling pressured to sleep with you. You would have to keep it in your pants, Alpha.” I voiced, making sure he heard mischief in my voice as I spoke.
Before he could respond, Zealina walked up to us, bowing her head as she greeted us. She muttered to me, “It’s good to have you back, Luna.”
There we go again with the Luna title and Lucas didn’t miss that. He smirked, “If you don’t need me here, Luna. I’d like to take my leave and get some things done.”
“Just leave, silly.” I chuckled despite Zealina’s presence.
And Lucas also placed a sweet kiss on my lips regardless despite the servants watching us before he took his leave.
I caught Zealina smiling sheepishly but she quickly masked it by saying, “Where shall we begin, Luna?”
“Can you stop calling me Luna, Zealina?” I groaned but of course, that wasn’t the last time I was called Luna that day.
Every servant I worked with to organize the party called me Luna and they showed respect. I stopped worrying about it and trusted them to plan the party with me.Zealina told me about how her daughter has been talking about meeting me again and that she was happy to know that I and the kids returned safely to the pack.
“I guess I will see her at the dinner party.” I smiled, recalling how strong the teenage girl was when she helped me save more of Lorraine’s prisoners.
“Definitely, Luna,” Zealina affirmed.
I felt the need to say something like this to my younger self, “Look at you chit-chatting with Zealina and commanding her respect without asking for it. You’ve grown, Fiona.”
And there was still a chance for more growth regardless of what the future holds.
