The party started well and even though I was tired from planning all day, I was happy to be there. Organizing a party is just as stressful as training either physically or spiritually and for someone new to the task, I did well.
Although I intended to learn from Iris not because I was certain Lucas and I would get to the level where I would have to take over and become his Luna fully but because I was willing to try and put all the effort into what Lucas and I were building.
When the party started, the white wolves arrived together and they all chose to occupy the empty seats on the right side of the hall, leaving members of the Crescent Pack to sit on the other side. But after an hour of fun group games, the two parts were beginning to mix and relate.
Lucas was sitting with me. Otis and Susanna were also at the same table with us. Andrew wasn’t here yet as he had to run an errand for Lucas and I had noticed the respectful manner Lucas’s pack members were treating me.
They have changed for the better.
Now my kids could run around without masks or bullies.
“You outdid yourself,” Lucas whispered to me. “Thank you for doing this even though you could have spent the time with the white wolves, training spiritually.”
“I plan to resume training tomorrow though.” I chimed, beaming at Lucas just as Zealina and other servants entered the hall with different kinds of food.
Although the servants did most of the cooking, I added my own flare to it and I knew everyone would enjoy whatever they chose to eat from the menu. Otis and Susaanna were whispering to each other, love radiating off them.
All in all, everything was going well with the party until Andrew arrived at the table a few minutes after we all started eating. “Sorry, I’m late.” Andrew apologized as he sat on the empty seat between Lucas and Susanna who was holding Otis’s hand on the table. Andrew was about to greet the lovebirds and meet Susanna for the first time but he suddenly inhaled sharply, his eyes stuck on Susanna.
Otis didn’t seem to notice the change in Andrew’s composure. He laughed, “It’s so good to see you again, Andrew. I have been looking forward to this moment. Allow me to introduce you to my chosen mate.”
Otis looked at Susanna affectionately but Susanna was looking at Andrew in what could pass as awe if I didn’t perceive the fear rolling off her.
Before Otis could complete the introduction, Susanna stunned us all when she uttered one word while holding Andrew’s gaze, “Mate.”
I immediately understood what was happening but Otis and perhaps Lucas didn’t understand until Andrew repeated that same word with what I knew was happiness, “Mate.”
However, Andrew’s eyes shifted to Susanna and Otis’s locked fingers and I saw hurt flashing through his usually kind eyes before he looked at Otis whose face had turned red.
“She’s my chosen mate,” Otis muttered like he was praying that his words would have some kind of meaning to Andrew. “She chose me too. We are in love.”
Oh, this isn’t going to end well.
If Otis a high member of the white wolves and Andrew, Beta of Crescent Pack should start fighting over Susanna in the middle of a party that was meant to bring both packs together, then this wouldn’t end well.
Lucas asked Andrew as he stared at Susanna, “Are you guys sure?”
Susanna detached her fingers from Otis as she rose to her feet, gave Andrew one last look, and walked towards the entrance, almost falling as she wasn’t used to the heels she chose to wear after going through the clothes and shoes Lucas had someone deliver to the apartment when I was planning the party with Zealina.
He was being sweet but that wasn’t the point at the moment.
The point is, that Susanna is Andrew’s destined mate even though she had initially committed herself into a relationship with Otis who had been nothing short of loving to her.
“Wait up, Suzy,” I called after Susanna before leaving the table but not without telling Lucas that he was in charge of stopping Andrew and Otis from getting into a fight while I was gone.
I followed Susanna out of the hall, running after her until she halted outside the hall, looking at the sky. I thought she had her face up because she was trying to stop tears from flowing freely and I moved closer to console her.
But to my surprise, her body shook visibly as she began to laugh out loud while still looking at the dark starry sky of the night.
What do I do?
Do I laugh with her or tell her that the moon goddess has been toying with my life too?
After much consideration, I settled for staying behind her while she laughed. Eventually, Susanna’s laughter turned into loud sobs and I stepped closer to her, holding her as she cried.
“I’m sorry this is happening,” I whispered to her because I knew how much she loved Otis, and growing up the way she did, she didn’t have any hope of finding her destined mate.
But that has changed because the white wolves moved here.
“What do I do, Fiona? I love Otis. I don’t want to hurt him. We were planning to mark each other after the purifying lake has been established tomorrow. We plan to ask for the Elder’s blessings beside the lake.” Susanna said to me, her voice breaking as she spoke.
She paused but soon continued, “But on the other side is that man.”
“Andrew.” I offered, making her smile despite the tears racing down her cheeks.
“He looks like he was ready to live the rest of his life for me even though he just met me. He looked like he was already falling for me the minute we locked eyes. He looked like the nicest person I would ever meet even though I just met him.” Susanna voiced with passion. “He looks like my destiny, Fiona.”
She was torn. Torn between two men.
One, a loyal Beta who deserved her more than anyone else not just because he was her destined mate but also because he was a good man. Second, a loving man who has chosen to love her without a bind and fallen for her in the midst of chaos.
I would be torn if I was Susanna.
Even though I was just a friend, I was torn as I didn’t know what to say to her even after she asked for my opinion. It would have been easy to be biased and pick one man if I didn’t love both men.
“Don’t just look at me, Fiona. Who should I choose?” Susanna asked again but all I could give her was silence.
Ouuu, Susanna is torn between two gorgeous men. This could turn out to be a romantic adventure for her or a love triangle story. Who do you want her to pick? Our Sweet Otis or Loyal Andrew?
